I just created a discord server for this game. I think it would be easier for any new members joining the community. https://discord.com/invite/JqEkBxrH
I think we should, as a group, revisit the idea of merging all the platform categories. Almost all runners only have the game on one platform, and it would look really nice if the list was longer and we were all competing against each other. The load times are not outrageously different.
I think we should vote twice to establish what the community here wants as a whole. First vote; Do we leave the categories exactly how they are, or merge them? And the next vote; if we merge them, Should we either, Cut out load times, just leave the load times in and if you play on an inferior system that's just the penalty you have, or the third option of adding or removing specific amounts of time depending on what system you are running.
I would really like to hear peoples thoughts on this, I've been thinking about this and wanting to merge the categories for years, this would also bring in more runners, and I know that everyone who ran this game loved it. It's a hidden treasure and I want as many people to discover it as possible.
danielkohbad's any% run has no video associated with it. Are videos required for proof on this game?
Is there a difference between each platform? I'm confused as to why there is a listing for all of them when they could just be in 1 cohesive list. More people would be inclined to run the game if there wasn't like 10 different categories.
There's no rules for either of the categories. As well only pc is listed for the platforms available. I'm interested in running the game but I'm certainly confused about how to even go about that.
Why don't you use a new save file each run and not use ng+? There should be separate categories for using the locked items.
I just started running this today. I absolutely do not understand the door Glitch; And it really only seems like 1 person here has it mastered skipping multiple loops. I can pretty consistently skip 1 loop on the first door. But I don't understand how you skip multiple loops?
By far the worst luck I've ever had in this game. I barely even play but when I go for a Pb this happens. ?
I have compared two of my runs that I used the exact same strategy during.
Time starts the instance you see the word "Loading" begin to appear. Timing ends when you can no longer see the word "loading" (It fades out, so you time it to the end of the fade, not the beginning.)
I am playing on a ps4. To time the run I used a digital stop watch and played the video back at 0.25 speed and then divided the time by 4 to receive the real load time. It's not frame perfect so if times are fairly close then it's considered equal.
Format will simply be.
- Name of load trigger A. (Game A time) B. (Game B time)
If there is many entries from everyone I'll make an excel chart.
- Ch.1 Load In A. 1.82 B. 1.68
- Ch.1 Load Out A. 2.64 B. 2.52
- Ch.2 Load In A. 10.71 B. 10.53
- Scaffolding Load Out A. 3.37 B. 3.37
- Scaffolding Load In A. 16.92 B. 17.05
- Ch.2 Load Out A. 3.32 B. 3.21
- Ch.3 Load In A. 5.32 B. 5.15
- Ch.3 Skip Load A. 9.08 B. 9.11
- Ch.3 Load Out A. 3.37 B. 3.34
- Ch.4 Load In A. 2.83 B. 2.87
As you can quickly tell, the load times are basically identical with only a couple of places having a very tiny slight discrepancy that won't effect anything in the same console.
I'm interested to see what ps3 is, and what other ps4s would compare to mine.
I think it goes without saying that if all systems are within a certain margin of each other, then merging is the only logical option, and if they are drastically different between the same console, then load times will need to be removed. Both directions are to encourage fairness and inclusionism. (is that even a word? Lol)
There needs to be a rule in place for individual levels that prohibits leaving the chapter and reentering. So you need to play from start to finish without quiting and returning. Since in chapter select there is no such thing as continue, it's not a true chapter complete, it's technically picking a random level in the chapter, even if you have entered the area.
Technically there is 1 more platform available for this game; Pstv. I had noticed that ps4 pro was added so if we're covering all bases, then playstation TV as well.
There really should only be 1 category for any%. The separate platforms have a filter for them and it looks infinitely more professional that way.
Since when can run be rejected for being too slow? That doesn't sound very inclusive. ? Context, I attempted to submit a run for an IL that had no other times verified as a joke; This screenshot would make a great meme.
Tldr: I'm too slow to play SMB.
Why did you verify your own runs with no video evidence? How can you prove that you got that time?
I have only recently started running super meat boy, so I'm not aware of what the rules used to be, but for individual levels some of the times (including 1st place times) do not adhere to the rules stated. Is this something that is removed upon request? Or do times existing before a rule is set in place have a sort of grandfathered loophole? I wasn't sure how else to contact any moderators so this seemed like an appropriate place to ask.
