Oh, yeah, that makes sense! Cool, so going forward, we'll just do the stuff I mentioned in the other post once you have a submission you want to put up, let me know and I'll make the category
Sure, here's my opinions but I'm not necessarily set to them:
1- That's an interesting idea, I was definitely thinking about how to deal with this case, like making a split on patch version or something along those lines, but since I can't seem to download an older patch, not much to be done there and seemed silly to make a new leaderboard with (at the time) only 1 or 2 runs in it. Definitely worth reassessing; I'll look into seeing how to split Fly out
2- Interesting, haven't looked too deeply into all doors just yet, but wouldn't surprise me if it's been changed in an update. In combination with your note on 3 and 6: I think All Doors needs a rework altogether. Probably will keep the current and make it legacy, and make a new one if you submit a full run of it with the new door.
4- I lean against IL for this game as many of them are a second or less. Appreciated you submitting them in your run, but will really just make more work on the leaderboard for me on timing millisecond stuff. I'll definitely reconsider if we have another runner or two who actively want to compete in the category!
5- Unfamiliar with the category, lmk what you mean and if it's different enough I'll add it!
Feel free to let me know what you think/if you feel strongly against anything I've said above
Hmm, not sure what you mean, lmk when you have the youtube video up and I'll take a look and hopefully understand a bit more :D
My best run so far: Lots of improvement possible, so gonna keep improving
Gonna take me a while to get used to that, thanks :)
Cool, just wanted to clarify since technically it would split if you get the right memory thing in place, but wouldn't mark when you're in the right place or print memory so sounds like it'd be alright
I understand why you can't run on the modded rom.
But if there was an autosplitter/timer that used memory addresses to time it for you, would that be allowed? It would make timing a run much easier, and you'd learn if you messed up the run earlier than getting to the end and it not working (I know it's only like a minute or 2 or 3, but if I'm gonna grind a time, I'd rather not waste any :P)
Curious to what people think about it
Yeah these sound like good solutions, though I don't have experience with frame count stuff either
Agreed, as the top3 are recent runs anyway, they're timed with milliseconds anyways (just double checked to make sure, and yup) So even that annoyance isn't really a problem. Regarding even older runs that aren't timed with ms, I feel as they aren't even top 3, I'd argue is less important, but am open to the opposing opinion :)
Moving over here from the Discord discussions, but as the run is fairly short, the removal of ms I believe will cause more issues than resolve.
