Hello. As some of you know, YouTube is going to private videos from before 2017 that are marked unlisted, starting on July 23. If any one of you have runs that are unlisted and are uploaded before 2017, then either
- Op out of the change
- Change the video share settings to public
- Re-upload the video as an unlisted video and resubmit your video link.
This is important as we could potentially lose old runs, especially "maybe" old world records.

Hello. Something that's never talked about when making the IL rules is Baby Yoshi. Should Baby Yoshi be allowed for IL runs? I looked over recent submission videos where they make clever usage of Baby Yoshi to either do skips or get star coins. But I want your opinion on this. Should Baby Yoshi be allowed for ILs?
Hello. Apologies for another forum post so soon but I really need to make this discussion.
Whenever I look at IW runs, I can see that the timing rule is not consistent with every run. I'm not a proponent for moderating IWs because the rules were never clear to me even before I became a mod of this game. Some runs have that I've seen start runs on first level select, while some other runs start from the starting space. But every run ends on either the flagpole grab of their last level or the final hit of a boss, which is consistent for all IW runs.
I moderate NSLU IWs because I wrote out the rules for those runs long ago and IW runs in NSLU start from the starting space of each world and end on the final flagpole grab or final hit.
So I want feedback here: What should the start timing be?
A. Start from the start space and add approximately a second for all other runs that did not start from the start space?
B. Start from first level select and subtract approximately a second for all other runs that started from the start space?
Hello. Secret exit ILs are now available on the IL boards and also 6-Castle now has a split between front and back entrances. I managed to move all of the secret exit runs that have surviving video onto the ILs. If there's something that I missed, feel free to let me know.
Hello. I've been seeing this a lot recently but if you're going to submit IL runs and the video link is one video that features multiple levels, then please either trim the video or time code the video link. For YouTube links, you can right click the video and "Copy video URL at current time" or for Twitch links, go to Settings on the video player and "Copy Video URL at [current time code]".
This also applies for some full-game runs that I've also been seeing do this. I am not a fan of rejecting runs just from having the video start at either a different IL, a different category run or a completely different game unrelated to this game.
I brought this up in the main discord server but I want to change the rules of IL runs here.
If you read the rules under all of the IL categories, it states that all levels must start as Small Luigi and that all IW categories state that all levels must be completed, including the Any% section of the IWs. The IL leaderboards were created back in mid 2016 by somebody who is no longer a moderator of our leaderboards and made the rules just like that.
The reason I want this rule change is because every other IL boards on the other NSMB games allow levels to start with power-ups and I want this game to follow up with those as well. Let me know about some possible feedback here.
I should make a post of this because I've been getting activities of this as of lately.
Global Rules:
-All runs must require video proof. Submitting YouTube channels, memes, or screenshots are unacceptable. No vid, no did. Submitting splits with video is optional -Abide by all of the category rules -When submitting ILs, the IGT must be visible or your run MAY be rejected. -While NOT required, the run should start within at least a few seconds of the beginning of the video and should end after the credits or resetting to check your file, but it helps prove the run isn't cheated.
After submitting your run, please be patient as it could take a maximum of a week to view your submission as we moderators have priorities outside of speedrun.com. It is okay to let us know that you submitted your run but don't harass the mods about not getting your run accepted. Sometimes, we'll need other mods to view your submission as well.
Any further questions can be contacted through one of us privately or in our community discord server.

For those who have been requesting categories that are too uncommon to be considered being added to the main boards, I've created a spreadsheet that has listed all of the categories that are not on these boards but have been ran at some point. This also includes DX and the original NSMBU game

Hey would it be okay to add some non full-game categories like the original version has such as Forest Temple, Goron Mines, Master Sword, etc. I want to do those because I'm afraid if a full-game category would be too long for myself to complete.
Hey, I did a race earlier today with a friend of mine. We both did hard mode with 5 stocks and I don't see that anywhere here and I want to submit my run. Do you think you could add that?
What do you guys think of doing a non-full game category where you have to unlock all of the cap switches? Similar to SMW's All Switches category.
Hey, I think the run types for 11 exits should be in "Sub categories" instead of extra variables for some who prefer to not use certain tricks to get through 11 exits faster. Like me, I like to beat all 11 levels as fast as I can without using any crazy glitches. I think that should apply for 96 exits there are now really crazy glitches to get through some levels quicker, such as duplicating blocks for Yoshi wings.
Alright! I just created some sub categories for all categories because some people (like me) prefer to not use Nabbit when playing the game.
I'd like to see a category for this game for "All Castles" where runners have to complete each world as fast as possible. Kind of similar to NSMB and NSMBW's cannonless runs and SMB3's warpless runs.
