I don't think it's necessary; we tried one run and we were able to get a time similar to what's already there without too much problems by optimizing everything, and a bit of luck for the Bounties.
After Briggsy and ashen key/guardian I came with the conclusion keg damage stacks. But with my experience and research it seems that damage does not stack against the Ghost Of Grammarrow only. https://www.seaofthieves.com/forum/topic/111199/gunpowder-barrel-max-stack/5 Natsu V.2 talks about it https://seaofthieves.gamepedia.com/Ghost_of_Graymarrow and the wiki, even if I know everything is not true. I tried myself and killed the boss quickly by placing groups of 2 or 3 kegs everywhere on the fort. (Total of 15 kegs, 3 minutes of blunderbuss with one mate) but 30 at the same time doesn't kill.
I think I'm going to test if the keg damage caps to be sure tomorrow with emergent captains. I'll try with one, then two, then three and then ten kegs. If ten doesn't kill it, damage doesn't cap. I'll post the results in the evening if everything goes well.
I think a Fort Of The Damned Category should be added. It would start when the player clicks the interaction with the ritual skull and end when the player clicks the interaction with the fort key on the vault. No other crews would be allowed to help, and the speedrun would not be able to be submitted if any player of another crew damages/light up a skeleton or the boss or is seen on the island. As the kegs damage caps around two or three kegs using them to kill the boss would not be optimal and players would stick to canons/blunderbuss. As the boss has the same health for every crew type there will be more likely only full galleons playing. Storages of all kind (ammunition included) would be allowed. Other players attacking should not be a problem as the fort is doable in around 12-13 minutes, not enough time for others to come if only one is done in a row. This category would be more likely the most played as players would not see the speedrun as a time loss because doing it get them loot.
