it's obtain netherite with an advancement challenge dedicated to validating it
We actually do have a "Bowser stages" category just like this one on the "Stage RTA" section of our button challenge leaderboards, so I do agree that the category makes sense. Even though the category is particularly unique in those challenges because 0, 1, and 16 star literally don't exist there, I do like the idea of a movement-based Bowser stage category (where movement optimizations aren't outshined by getting the BLJs quickly) in parallel to the Stage RTA concept. To bring this category optimally in line with Stage RTA, the red coin stars would have to be required, separating the category further from 0 and 1 star.
Isn't Ganon even part of All Kilton Medals because you have to reach the postgame for something?
yeah currently it seems like the "2x XP" speedrun option is suffering the same fate that Single XP was saved from when I started speedrunning. I think that a non-obsoleting filter variable for XP multipliers would be best, seeing how 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x (Discord reward), 1.5x (Hunted), 2.5x, 3.5x, and 4.5x are all realistic possibilities for the XP boosts used, and 8 options is definitely too much for subcategories
This has been mentioned a few times, but categories of the type "Do Any% up to a certain point and then do one thing" are not candidates for category extensions. Some categories that would be notoriously duplicate if starting from a fresh file (All rabbit moons, or returning Peach back home) have instead been designed to start from a file where the postgame has been reached, but obviously this isn't a reasonable option for entering the Odyssey either
so the thing with 1x carpetless is that it is alreay just the singlestar, so it would probably end up being like 3x 10x wdw elevatorless could be interesting with the recently developed setup, that one could actually become useful for 70 runs if it was solved well enough
So the issue with that is that SCW doesn't let you get the bloodmoon quest, so the category would pretty quickly be about as dead as All Kass Quests
This video explains why runs are already optimal in this regard:
As for the activity... the only No Bank levelup runner in here is attempting DnD and currently prefers it over levelup
You can do IP skip instead and get the IP moons later on the revisit
"And for the Wynncraft version and DXP subcategories, I think they are fine the way they are right now because it would be little unfair to have a really good run that could potentially unbeatable in the future updates due to future changes and the xp sub category should be alright since its cutting a significant amount of time from the runs" - mLg
That's why they would of course remain as filterable variables so that when looking at the board, it would be possible to only view single XP runs or only view 1.20 runs. Also note that if a version ever becomes so much slower that a run becomes virtually unbeatable, then there is an option to set the latest version as "default" so the board is filtered for that version by default.
The main reason for why I prefer XP multipliers as a variable rather than a subcategory is because there's still a difference between the relatively reliable 2x or 2.5x (Hunted) XP on a DXP weekend and the 4x XP that requires both a DXP bomb and discord XP at the same time, and so lumping those into the same subcategory with no separating variable can be about as demotivating for 2x XP runs as having no separating variable between single XP and DXP weekend
Of course it's supposed to be a speedrun. But a speedrun has a goal, and not every speedrun category has to have "levelup" as the goal. What I'm suggesting is a different category that has a different goal and happens to include levelup as part of the measure to achieve that goal. The goal is to complete the main lore of a region by finding all secret discoveries and beating all dungeons.
This concept is pretty similar to many speedruns in the The Legend of Zelda series.
oh wow somehow i managed to end my recording like 20 minutes early. I died to Hashr and didn't have a backup key.
(and ofc creating a filter variable to separate them from macroless runs)
Hi! I do have one more request to my previous suggestion of a Single Experience subcategory: Since subcategories take up quite a bit of space and can become hard to navigate, I suggest changing both the XP Multiplier and the Wynncraft Version subcategories to non-obsoleting variables that can be filtered for (similar to currently the "Class" filter, but without the tick on "Values obsolete eachother").
As filter variables allow for significantly more options than subcategories without creating clutter, I also suggest allowing any XP multiplier to be added (e.g. 1.5x for Hunted, 4x for dxp weekend and dxb bomb and discord xp).
When working towards my long-term ambition of Level 1-50 No Bank, I thought of a set of categories that could serve as stepping stones, and also add some extra lore, diversity, and ultimately mandatory boss fights to the Wynncraft No Bank runs: All Dungeons and (secret) Discoveries of a region.
The subcategories I have in mind would be Wynn Plains (containing DS, IP, LS, and UC), Desert (containing SST), Tundra (containing IB), Wynn Province (containing the prior plus UR), and All.
Time would start on selecting a new profile for the first time (and thus starting the tutorial), and end when either the last dungeon is complete or the XP for the final discovery are added (whichever happens last).
I'm posting this now because I got very close to finishing a run of DnD Desert today, and plan on doing so soon (will post the run when it's uploaded).
Max shrines would be all except for the one locked behind an impossible Divine Beast, and even that could maybe be gotten with the new Naboris skip (if there is a variation that doesn't require pauses). Pauseless Master Sword would similarly also probably be possible. I'd be interested in watching a pauseless run that does something more than Any%, but ofc if nobody wants to do it that's fine
Someone made a video about a pauseless playthrough, and it sounds really complex, advanced, and thus interesting. They also seemed to reference a different way of changing your clothes. Not sure if maybe the boss fights might be too slow to keep the categories sane
