I know video game journalism is a low barrier but since Speedrun.com is listed as a patron on the website, you should disclose that. If someone else makes a similar website, do they get a free writeup in the official newsletter? How do you know joey hasn't done a speedrun in nine years? Is he your friend or an admin here? If people know, they can decide for themselves.
The Gold Split is not affiliated with speedrun.com or therun.gg in any way. Therun.gg has no intentions to compete with speedrun.com. And yes, I spoke to joey.
Note: the article was written before @Niftski crushed their previous record with a 04:54.565, 18 frames away from complete perfection and being tied with the TAS.
@hutchyben: It's tricky, but if it a machine is too generous it will be very obvious. Unless we see something that looks way off or know the run was played on a busted machine I'm inclined to always give the benefit of the doubt.
@InfinityGene: Seven runs were removed and three moved to the leaderboard for glitched runs.
I understand and it's unfortunate. I have no reason to not believe your time to be legitimate, but it was important to establish a new Top 5 with exclusively runs that adhere to the new rule requirement of including a full video. The Top 5 will be actively moderated, but the rest of the leaderboard will remain open for everybody to post without verification.
