Just a thought, but maybe adding a thing in the rules that says sub 4:20 times must include ms? Maybe make the lives of the Mods a lil easier haha.

Can we change the rules on timing to reflect how the game is actually timed? The rues say the run starts when you press start on the title screen. But everyone on the bord is starting their time from the first frame you take control. So which one is it?

We are in the process of updating the rules and agreeing on a format but to answer the question it will be time start when you gain control of Nick. You can use a -5.00 second timer as you press start on the title screen as that is what polsvoice determined was an accurate delay for the splits.

Sorry I have not updated the rules yet, I will get it set in stone ASAP which is hopefully tomorrow.

@NinpoManiac theres a seperate thread i started about this. Frame counting is from control of Nick, the -5.00 start pretty much lines up with this

Yeah the -5.00 is dead on for timing from start input and Kuma is hard at work on updating all the rules at the same time. This is such a new game and we want to make sure we get everything possible in there so we only have to make slight changes if any later.

i agree with Steve though. it's such a short run that if you know how and can add ms it would be nice... aaaaand also pls highlight your run on Twitch if you're not uploading an individual run to YT. It's not fun to hunt through a 2-4 hour stream to find that one 5 minute run where you got a PB. Those are few and far between but it happens. /shrug

Since 4:06 to 4:15 is a tight window and yet have most submissions within that time frame, I would say all runs under 4:15 should have milliseconds. Let's make that required.

Definitely agree that the run should be clipped from the stream. It should include the reset or booting up of the chosen system so we know save states aren't being used.

Pretty sure all of that is in the proposed verbiage I sent Kuma. Glad to help hash out any details in that proposal, suggest changes, and help with the verbiage!

Modified proposed Rules:

Game Rules Timer starts once you get control of Nick in Stage 1, and ends on the last frame that Nick is visible and has stopped moving on Stage 4. Suggested Start Time is -5.00 from pressing Start on the Start Screen. Milliseconds are required for time below 4:15.

For emulator runs, please state the name & version of the emulator used in your submission. Smartphone emulators are banned. Versions of FCEUX below 2.5.0 are banned. For MESEN users, the emulator's input display MUST be shown on screen. Save states are not allowed before, during or after the run.

Reset/power on prior to run must be shown on video. For the Nintendo Switch (non NES-online version) version, the "Reset" option must be used.

It is the runner's responsibility to ensure video footage remains available. Therefore, if a run with a missing video is brought to our attention, it will be removed.

The more i think about this more i think it's a meh point to add. People can add ms but i'm going to check it anyway and i wouldn't want this to be a reason why someone would be turned off to running the game. Not everyone knows how to frame count their runs and i like to say that speedrunning is for everyone. i just feel like adding that in doesn't sound as inclusive as i would like.

That's fair polsvoice. Thing is if someone is committed to get to the top, they probably have a significant gaming aptitude and likely are proficient at framecounting. But I'm cool with the wording being "suggested" instead of "required" so folks that can do it will make an effort.

Working on the final draft of the incoming rules updates. They will be final until someone discovers something game breaking or otherwise requiring another update. I will be very happy once we have everything squared away and everyone has the same experience going in.

that's perfect. i think "suggested" wording is a great addition.
