Hello there I've been practicing this game recently and I've noticed that most of the players use emu for this game. I've tested out movement in the game and found that I can't keep up with the emu on console. Lag reduction on emu makes it hard to keep up with compared to PS2. Is there plans to add a separate category for console runs? Thanks :)
Probably I won't put any more categories. There aren't enough runners, so I think it is useless to make a new one.
The European version, overall, is faster than the American version, too, across the board for the Syphon Filter trilogy on PS1. Runs about, on average, 3-4 minutes faster.
What makes that version faster? Also you should see what the fast disc setting on PS2 does to the voice acting. You guys probably already know about it, but I love how much sooner you can make Myra and the Agent walk in stage 2 when the voices go a million mph.
I don't really know what makes it faster, but when you play on PAL version you can notice how movement is smoother than NTSC version. Anyways, If I see a big time difference between PS2 and Emulator, I'll consider making two categories.
J.Y., the former WR holder for SF1, played the PAL version of SF on a PS2 to achieve his time (no emulator), which serves as a useful barometer for the overall higher speed of that version versus NTSC.
I did my SGDQ submission on the NTSC version (because they don't allow emulators) and my time was a shade over 1:15. Not bad overall, but it likely would have been a 1:11-1:12 if I were playing the PAL version.
