Performing the Sonic Boost :
- First of all, having a high mouse sensitivity can make it easier to perform.
- Hold 'W' and 'D' for diagonal movement to the right, then quickly move your camera to the right to spin clockwise
- Hold 'W' and 'A' for diagonal movement to the left, then quickly move your camera to the left to spin counterclockwise
- Choose the direction based on the situation
Mind the Terrain :
- Be cautious of obstacles, as even a small thing on the ground can make you lift off and send you airborne
- As the game is dumb (or strangely accurate on this specific point) the horizontal speed adds to the vertical speed when calculating fall damage, which can lead to instant death, even from low heights.
Bonus Glitch – The "AdrenaKill":
- (I haven’t seen this in other speedruns even if it looks basic so I explains it here just in case) If you have the upgrade that boosts your speed after a melee kill and the one that increases speed when you take an adrenaline pack, killing someone and then taking a pack after won’t give you much speed.
- However, if you take the adrenaline pack a fraction of a second >before< performing a melee kill (just by pressing both keys at the same time with a little delay) you’ll not have the animation of the kill and be able to continue running while the time dilatation is still here and experience a drastic multiplication of speed after the time dilatation. Combined with a Sonic Boost can be extremely powerful even with a single spin.
Guys, I'm sorry, but bad news about this bug: after buying a new computer (a very powerful one), I realized that the better your computer's performance, the more powerful the Sonic Boost technique becomes (drastically more powerful, to the point that I'll personally need to relearn the Any% run). This means that fairness no longer exists in this speedrun. The more money you invest in your setup, the better your chances of getting a good time
Hello hello!
I've discovered that the "Sonic Boost" technique is heavily influenced by your PC's performance. Simply put, the better your hardware, the more of speed you gain, which can lead to a "pay to win" situation
