Guide Update Notes

On Friday 10/27/2023, v2.2.0 release - nothing much has changed, however, resetting for the bunny hat is a bit of a pain now. The platform and pillar where the tutorial chest is no longer retains saved character position (This was done intentionally as per Atomic Elbow(AE)) The bunny hat is still considered required for this run, and getting it in a timely fashion will require some luck.

Movement

Jump (Space) and then Right Click (block) and then jump and then block. This can be seen throughout JustV and Foxxert's runs.

Holding shift make you to sprint, and the movement speed modifier will affect your speed while in the air. There are varying degrees of acceleration, where thrusting upwards and falling seem to cover more distance faster.

JumpBlocking will allow you to infinitely jump pack and effectively fly across the map once you have it and allows well timed bunny hops during segments of the game where you cannot use the jetpack.

JumpBlocking is the primary movement tech of the game and tied to with bunny hat is responsible for moving you across the map, which there's so much.

Alt-Dodging is pretty quick but limited and I don't use it a lot.

Blocking while falling while accelerate your falling and well-timed blocking while falling negates fall damage.

Some Run Notes

You do not need to progress the quest with the ticket counter at all through the run and can be ignored. Get Gnomes and Grenades for the third boss. Gnomes can save you in mistakes. Leveling up is more of a disadvantage since the tree boss scales to your level. Movement speed is affected by the agility stat, if you happen to level up at all, use that. Dialogue options don't seem to matter at all. Maybe on the bouncer, I always pick the first one. Use of the developer console is strictly forbidden in runs.

Game optimization advice

All of your save game data and config information is stored in a file. C:\Users\V\AppData\LocalLow\Atomic Elbow\Sir Whoopass\savedata.swa This file gets very large, and the game starts really struggling with it. Deleting this file gives you a fresh start on the game and it runs a lot better for runs. You will have to setup the After cutscene save game again.

Splits

Bunny Hat Jetpack Trial of Wisdom (Hat) Trial of Courage (Shield) Trial of Strength (Cape) Ending

The Run

The run officially starts when the beginning cutscene ends. Runners may use a save game at this point to start the run and skip the beginning cutscene. Complete the tutorial and at the end (The obvious long platforming section) there is an orange chest on the right that will randomly give you one of the hats in the game. To my knowledge there are 2 hats that give you +15%. I'm not exactly sure the odds on getting the hat. I may count them at some point.

The Bunny Hat or Black Bunny Band F1 (Quicksave) before you jump onto the collapsed pillar. F2 (Quickload) After you realize it's not the hat you need. Don't spam F, you can open the chest during the cutscene and forces the chest open without being able to recover and having to start the run over. I personally believe getting the +15% movement speed is valuable given how much of this game is simply platforming and running to dungeons. It is entirely RNG and is an early reset point for me if I don't get it fast enough. With the new limitations on saving on this platform, I am only going to do a very few numbers of resets before resetting the run.

Split when either bunny hat is received.

After the Gag ending plays and the loading screen, F1+ F2 to start the boss fight and skip the cutscene. Kill the boss, block his red attack to stun him and attack. Alt-Dodge to avoid the blue attacks. Talk through the starting dialogue, you may level up here. I didn't.

Smash the rocks and gather bacon, eggs and a cat, get the cappuccino, (getting a second one helps do more damage to the tree boss later, might be worth it to just dump the cat in while you're moving around doing other stuff)

Run into the bar, and head downstairs to talk to the table to progress the quest. Head upstairs to the right and talk to the blacksmith and get the weapon.

If you hold S (backstep) while holding F (FastForward cutscene) you can skip him talking to you again after you buy the weapon since it will force a cutscene box. Grab the map since it won't let you advance without it.

Head outside of Stonedale and head to the Goddess map marker (M) and grab some grenades on the way if you can.

Head up towards the jet pack and jump on the grass platform that connects you up to it that allows you to get the achievement tied to getting the jetpack without completing the required quest. Jet Pack Split after you close the jet pack item dialogue.

Head to the closest dungeon. The game segments it pretty well on its own with quest objectives but some of the dungeons later on are a bit spread out and require you to travel, making great use of the bunny hat.

These are my basic notes for this part of the game. Each Trial/Artifact is a split. The split is done when the forced cutscene plays and the player regains control of the character outside of the Trial.

The orbs can be quickly dispatched using your jetpack. Standing on top of them and jumping around seems to dissolve them very quickly, as the health appears to be not linked to raw damage output but number hits, as evidenced by bombs doing sporadic damage, but I'm not sure exactly. Jetpack flames shred orbs. There are times where you can't do that, and I note them throughout the guide.

(I'm not entirely sure how to translate the movement notes that I took after the fact, just trust the process the dungeons aren't hard to navigate and there's a few skips)

The Trial of Wisdom split starts with the first dungeon: Ancient Ruins of Stubbed Toes Straight - Hammer Left - Hammer Left - Hammer Right - Get Box Go Straight to the right to get the Boss Key Double Back and go through the boss door, shoot the target with your wand and run through. Hit the switch on the pillar with chain on it right next to the orb. Hit the switch tucked away in the back corner. Hit the last switch by the Mushrooms. Kill the orb with fire.

Ancient Ruins of Dirty Feet Straight - Left - Right - Orb with Fire.

Trial of Wisdom Head into the red room behind the trap where the jetpack turns off. Jump up to the right and hit the teleporter, and then bunny hop skillfully to the lever in the middle of the room to open the next door. Bunny hop back down and avoid the lava and head through the blue gate we just opened. Finesse the flames/traps. It's really just figuring out timing. You can alt-dodge to cancel fire projectiles and later can be blocked entirely. Straight - Left - Right - Look for the big Scary face that occupies the entire entry way - left - Hammer the rocks (careful there is a trap). JumpBlock up and turn around and over the out of bounds and JumpBlock fly to the boss arena. There is a point towards the middle where you can see stairs clipping, fly into that and land on the stairs outside the boss arena zone in, kill the boss and get the umbrella hat. The first boss fight requires you to shoot your twinkle want into the mouth of Big Boi when he roars (Flashes green). There are 3 exposed targets in their mouth, and once you realize that's what you're aiming for, you'll wonder why you struggled with the boss. After he takes damage from a hit, he will spawn spawns. Use the jet pack and bounce around to get your flames on them to slowly burn them to death and kill them and just bounce around until he gives you the chance to shoot him 2 more times and kill him. Hit the green portal that comes out of the lava and grab the Umbrella Hat. You cannot skip these cut scenes, doing F1+F2 seems to stop the game from progressing the quest. The Trial of Wisdom split is when the player regains control of their character following the cutscene.

Run to the next dungeon: Ancient Ruins of Moist Overhangs Straight - Left - Straight Ignore the Box Wasn't turned off at night.

Ancient Ruins of Leaky Roof You need the first box. Straight - Right - Left to get box, open door and jump up to the top right where there is a hole in the map that will take you out of bounds. JumpBlock Fly to the far end of the dungeon where the orb is. There is a jetpack canceller here that may kill you/reset your position if you're not careful. Land outside of the orb and hit it with the hammer until it dies. Wearing the top-hat that the first mandatory boss drops can save some time maybe. The exit portal can be interacted with on the direct opposite side of it.

Ancient Ruins of Empty Echoes (Only open during the day it seems) This one is a platformer. Straight Left watch the fire jets they are insta-kill. Straight Left Through the rocks Jump to the elevator to the left and get the box, put it on the button, run through and kill the orb. Use F1 To create quick saves throughout the tricky parts in case you fuck up. After you leave this dungeon, you'll head to the next trial.

Trial of Courage This is just a platformer. Dodge into fire and avoid the traps. Get to the boss. There is a lit up square shoot in this boss arena behind the boss where lights coming in from a window. Jumpblock Fly up here and fly around to the portal and activate it, grab the Shield. Run Straight and take the fast Travel Point to Stonedale, get cattoccino or get it here at the beginning of the game then head to:

Ancient Ruins of Moldy Ceilings There's a turret here so be careful. Right click block the projectile back to kill it. Enter the dungeon: Right through Hammer wall Jump up the left broken wall and straight. Run through the clown head straight ahead. Kill the orb with fire.

Ancient Ruins of Vitamin D Addition Run Straight Through Ignore the box. Kill the orb.

Ancient Ruins of Chilly Winds Run through a get a box. Turn right and go straight to get the boss key go back box the first button. GO through the boss door. Run into the puzzle room and save and reload to deaggro boss. Dodge roll into the shield and kill the orb with hammer. Run back to the entrance. Probably faster than whatever nonsense puzzle this map is. puzzle.

Ancient Ruins of Misplaced Belongings Turret here. Straight through get box, go to left door with button and go through kill the orb with fire.

Trial of Strength There's a turret here. Primarily you will want to use grenades to damage the tree. Friendly fire is useful. Jet pack fire damage is good chip damage for when you're lacking grenades to hit it for a lot. Kill mushrooms before it can heal, or it will kill your run. Slap it with your sword. The grenadiers in this game shoot grenades that you can pick up with the interact button. Picking these grenades up is essential for killing the tree in a timely manner. Get the cape.

The End

Using JumpBlocking, head to the Not-So-Secret-Portal-to-The-Sky and talk to the bouncer. Use the top option and he'll let you in without talking to Melisande.

Run straight ahead and either block to destroy the turret or dodge roll to cancel the projectile and hit the lever. Run out to the left and through the door and Jump pack up over the fire traps, avoid the monsters, and head through the spike traps and smash the rocks, and hit the lever to open another gate. You can save-load here to return to the doorway with the gate open, without the need to jump back. Run back through the spike trap, jump over the fire-dart traps and head through the opened gate. Jump up over the large orange orb thing. If you touch it, you will die. There are a number of levers that have to be switched to open grates. Jump over enemies and avoid them, continuing moving up the tower in a linear fashion and get the boss key. Smash the wall, head up, avoid traps, avoid monsters, get lagged out and audio spammed when your flames hit all the enemies you avoid and cause damage and noise from them all. Open the boss door. Jump up and turn around and fall out of the map. JumpBlock Fly over and enter the wyvern boss room without triggering the weapon pickup cutscene. You will enter the boss arena with the final weapon. Defeat the Wyvern and enter the portal on the other side of the egg console to end the run!

Should be it for now ;)
