Congratulations to our four new runners on the boards! Although Gustavo_Kennedy came in fourth place due to the time limit, later in the day he achieved a new PB time of 3'19"46 putting him in the top 10 on the board!

In third place came CecilMonk, $30, a WR holder in Top Gear, who has recently been working on the Original Mode version of the game, and who made us an autosplitter! He posted a superb time of 3'20"26.

In second place came Shime, $60, who is one of the denizens of Genesis running and features regularly in multi-game races. He is also a WR holder in the very demanding Super Monaco GP series, and came out with a time of 3'19"26.

And big congratulations to the winner, Kludge! $100

Kludge very sweetly requested that his prize be donated to The Wildlife Trusts. His first prize run came in at 3'13"60, already 4th all-time, but you should be aware that since then, he eclipsed that. He told me that he first tied the legendary Defanged_Develon's former WR 3'12"86 to move into third place. Then he tied Barsie95's 2nd place run of 3'12"83. But this morning he finished a run at 3'11"66, moving into clear 2nd place and becoming only the second runner to ever see a 3'11. He is now just .67 away from the grand prize of $310 if he can achieve a 3'10"x or lower by 3 May!! I am rooting him on and you should definitely give the runners a follow on Youtube/Twitch to see their future runs. I must admit I didn't expect anyone to be this close but I am ecstatic about it: this could very well end up as the greatest year in SHOG history if we have a bunfight over the WR.

You should run this game! It's an easy 5 minute run that makes a quick learn and is a classic from retro days. We would love to see you pick it up no matter what your skill level.

As of 19/12 with only thirteen days left of the new run bounty we have a new leader!

Barreling into first place is US runner Kludge with a SENSATIONAL time of 3'13"60 vaulting him in to line for $100 and becoming the fourth fastest runner of all time!

This pushes former leader Shime into the $60 place, CecilMonk into the $30 place, and Gustavo_Kennedy on the the no prize bubble! Even more exciting, those three runners' times are separated by only one second, setting up an absolute grandstand finish to the competition!!

All runners (except petaQ, Barsie95, Defanged_Develon, JKL, and SmeggedHead) have until 1/1/2022 at 12:30pm GMT to submit their fastest new runs. At this time the top 3 will win money.

Kludge the newcomer is now just 2.61 seconds away from the ultimate goal of 3'10"99 and he has a further four months to make attempts. Will he hang on for a bit longer at the top of the current contest, or will one of our Brazilliant trio overtake him?
