PoP: The Lost Crown | 10K Challenge Banned Tricks
Everything in this document is subject to change. Should you accidentally perform a banned strategy, you must go back to the previous checkpoint.
What's Allowed?
Tech
- Sword Hover: Hold the directional input, then alternate attacking up (on keyboard: pressing W+LMB) and attacking down (on keyboard: S+LMB). Lets one hover down. Does not work after a walljump.
- Fast Ground Movement/Low-Dash (no slide cancel): On flat ground tap jump and dash right after.
- Damage Boost (self-explanatory)
- Wall sticking: While gliding down/hanging on a wall move the analog stick in the wall direction makes. This makes Sargon "stick" to the wall, i.e. every re-grab sets his speed to 0
- Yellow Wall Break: Get a red exploding enemy near the wall, and it breaks without the ability.
- Ledge Slide: Only the method of sliding off a ledge is permitted
- More damage: Get someone next to the wall, jump, (hold) attack down, jump to cancel drop animation. Tap jump as short as possible
- Feather walk skip. Either via Ahtra surge, running at the right time, or partially via slide attack
Skips
- Forest Skip. Uses the sword hover tech
What’s Banned?
Tech
-
Slide cancel: Canceling and restarting the slide give a really big speed boost. The said cancel can be done, e.g, by the following:
- tapping the opposite direction key or pressing movement direction and slide at the same time
- the bow
- the dimension power-up (either when dimension is empty or when dimension contains an object)
- the sword
-
Dash cancel: Cancel an aerial dash by blocking
-
Corner Slide Boost : Attack downwards onto a corner to get pushed to the side
-
Infinite walljump without dash: off of any wall: hold direction off the wall, jump off (how long you hold is crucial here), attack. This allows to infinitely climb any wall found it to be easier on kb+m
-
Bow hover: fire bow mid air and wiggle the controller stick like crazy, or in circles, to make the prince float for exceedingly long times.
-
Mask enemy clipping, either via sliding at the right time or turn right and back jump 2x, slide left, spam jump. Banned because it has been patched out of the game on January 18th, 2024
Glitches
-
Flight: Refers to any way to gain substantial amounts of height by unintended means, e.g., by blocking after certain actions. Current methods of flight include using
- the bow, assuming Sargon has at least one arrow
- the dimension power-up
- swing poles
- just debris
-
Zombie Glitch: Refers to any glitch which brings Sargon into an invulnerable state and makes him ignore all trap collision. See section below for known effects; most versions of this glitch require restarting the game to get rid of the state. There are multiple known ways to trigger this state.
- Boss zombie glitch. Zombie can be obtained during certain boss fights by triggering the transfer phase of the fight and then dying before it happens. Works for the Kiana fight as well as the Jahandar fight.
- Shadow zombie glitch. Refers to any zombie glitch which relies on the shadow power or teleporting in general, e.g, change outfit while passing through collision (teleporting via "skip difficult sections" portals also works), fall into floor, use shadow, change outfit, triggering the dragon king amulet and restore your saved position right after, or activating shadow during a room transition.
-
Chakram Super Slide (or any super slide of similar nature): Slide towards a wall from a certain distance. If done correctly the prince will be pushed back, that's when you need to hold the bow.
-
Yellow parry clipping. Refers to any method of clipping through collision by means of a vengeful counter (“parrying a yellow attack”). Also works if the enemy is in front of the door, assuming the animation you get when parrying the yellow attack is one where you jump over the enemy.
-
Rubber band glitch (currently unknown how to trigger reliably)
-
Inverse vine: Jumping into a patch of vines from underneath, clips Sargon into the wall (any movement seems to clip Sargon outwards again)
-
Xerxes glitch: super down attack into spikes collects a Xerxes. Does not work everywhere
Out of Bounds
All Out of Bounds navigation is banned. This includes the following:
- Going behind or through rendered walls
- Player must stay above death planes and below the ceiling of any given play area
- Triggering checkpoints from out of bounds
As an example, refer to this Clock Tower Out of Bounds
Due to some dialogues being unskippable in the game, it has been decided to implement an automatic masher for the enter key on PC.
It is the only tool that will be allowed and no other key can be bound this way.
