"Is my game running too fast?"

**The short version:**
If your monitor has a 60hz refresh rate, you're fine.
If your monitor has any other refresh rate, **turn off VSync**, and you should be fine.

**The long version:**
Unity, the engine Ori is made in, may have issues syncing non-standard framerates. When using vsync on a non-standard framerate, it will likely reduce the frame time as a way to sync, causing the game to run faster than intended. The difference is difficult to notice with the naked eye, but gaining a ~10% advantage in speed obviously adds up.

In reverse, running the game on less than 60 FPS will cause the game to slow down. Since this works to your detriment, it won't invalidate a run, though it'll obviously suck. If this happens, try running on a lower resolution. Some people may experience slowdown when using or not using vsync; again, if you play on a 60hz monitor, you're fine using either.

If you use two monitors, and your second monitor is a non-standard refresh rate (but your main monitor isn't), you may still experience odd behavior because Unity is stupid. You can add the line "fps_max #60" to your [Steam launch options](http://i.imgur.com/nmeqBsb.png) if you do experience issues (with vsync off).

# All in all, you're just another brick in the wall

Since the amount of terra clips the ACNR category now has can be quite daunting for those unfamiliar with the trick, this guide focuses on explaining each and every one of them.

**First of all, what is a "terra clip"?**
Terra clipping is a trick that involves saving the game while dashing towards any unmovable obstacle from a very close distance but before touching it, then dying far enough from it to have the game unload it, and consequently moving through it before the game can load it again upon respawn. The save is usually placed thanks to the Save Anywhere trick.
Here is an example of terra clipping through a wall:

**How to perform a terra clip:**

- Start a save anywhere;
- Place Ori as close as you can to the wall, without having him leaning on it;
- Use Dash or Charge Dash towards the wall, and save before touching it: it's extremely useful to have a keybind for this, with Dash, the directional input you need and Proceed, or with Charge Jump, Dash and Proceed. Terra clips performed with the regular Dash will need to be accompanied by a directional input (towards the wall), while Charge Dash terra clips won't. Remember that if you have a bind with a directional input, the selected ability on the skill tree in the SA will move before the game can unlock one, so make sure you select the ability adjacent to what you actually intend to unlock to save the game.
- Exit the SA, move Ori far enough so that the game unloads the scene containing the obstacle you're trying to clip through and die;
- In most cases, you will need to keep holding the directional input towards the obstacle as you respawn, to maintain your speed and effectively clip.

# Types of terra clips

Since terra clipping only requires speed, a save and an obstacle to be performed, we have several ways of performing one, although some of them are mostly TAS-only and definitely not recommended in runs.

- A **mid-air terra clip** is any terra clip performed while Ori is in the air. Obviously, you still need to be very close to the wall and perform the exact same movement as any other clip, so not many mid-air terra clips are viable in RTA runs; some do have consistent setups, though, like the Windless clip that will be explained later in this guide.
- A **Wall Jump clip** is a particular mid-air terra clip that consists in sliding down on a wall, pressing jump once while holding the directional input towards the wall and immediately dashing and saving. It is simple enough to perform and very effective when there is no solid ground to stand on.
- A **Rocket Jump clip / Meteor Kick clip** is a terra clip performed by Rocket Jumping or Meteor Kicking an enemy and saving the frame before you touch the ceiling or ground: after dying as per usual, you will clip vertically. Being it a frame-perfect trick it is extremely risky and absolutely not suggested for use outside TAS runs.
- A **Climb clip** is performed by clinging to the corner between a wall and ceiling or floor with Climb, readying a Charge Jump through said floor or ceiling and saving on the same frame you release it: by then dying with the wall unloaded Ori will respawn moving diagonally out of bounds. An important thing to note is that by performing a double jump while Ori moves diagonally he will start travelling horizontally instead, allowing some interesting movement.
- A **Grenade Jump clip** works similarly to Rocket Jump clips, as you will need to not only perform a Grenade Jump successfully in the right direction, but you will also need to save one frame before touching the wall, ceiling or floor you want to phase through. Again, TAS-only trick that should not be used in RTA runs.

# ACNR clips

Now that we're familiar with the concept of terra clipping itself, we can move on to explaining the specific clips you can, or need to, perform in the All Cells No Restrictions route:

- **Atsu clip to Forlorn**
The Atsu clip in the Misty Woods takes you from where you see Atsu's Torch for the first time to the keystone door that leads to it: in this category this is used to perform specific movement and end up in Forlorn.
After performing the clip as shown below, move to the edge of the ground to the right, Dash glide off, Double Jump and hold right until you see Ori's particle trail disappear, then hold Glide to safely enter Forlorn without touching any spikes.

- **Windless**
As the name says, this midair terra clip allows us to reach the Forlorn Spirit Well and leave without actually restoring the Element of Wind.
To set it up, you'll need to place yourself close to the left wall on the platform in the vertical corridor leading to the Wind Core room, then simply Charge Jump and perform the Charge Dash save normally when at about maximum height. The positioning is very lenient, but it's important to have enough height when saving.
When respawning, Ori will keep moving to through the wall and respawning in loop: you'll need to time a save when Ori is about to respawn, make sure that you're through, Double Jump and let yourself fall (or Stomp) through the ceiling.

- **Light Grenade clip**
This moves Ori from where you find the orb in Blackroot Burrows to the Light Grenade skill tree, skipping all the movement between them as well as the trigger for the cutscene about Naru playing with the children of the Spirit Tree.
Clip through the wall as show below, then hold the left directional input and immediately Stomp down when respawning.

- **Fight Room skip**
Down in lower Blackroot Burrows there is a forced fight in a closed room against two birds and two slimes: that fight can be skipped by terra clipping and immediately stomping down on respawn like shown below.
The clip can be performed with a Charge Dash but the timing is more strict, so it would be recommended to at least start with regular Dash for this one.

- **Lost Grove swim skip**
This is an optional terra clip that allows Ori to only swim in poisoned water on the way out of the lowest Ability Cell in Lost Grove, which saves a significant amount of health and removes the need to regen with Regroup a few times before swimming out.
The weird shape of the wall you need to clip through can make the trick a bit finnicky to perform, which is why it's not very popular: you need to time a stomp down to the cell at least somewhat precisely.

- **Lost Grove to Moon Grotto**
This is a very useful clip that takes Ori from Lost Grove to Moon Grotto, removing the need to use the Lost Grove Spirit Well to leave.
To perform it, stand on the very small edge shown below, place Ori as per usual and clip, then keep the Save Anywhere open while Ori dies in the spikes down below; hold the right directional input while you respawn, wait about a second, then Charge Dash and save manually (don't use the bind, you need to save about halfway through the Charge Dash) and keep holding right. If Ori is stuck in place with nothing around him, Charge Dash once or twice to the right and you should be where you need to.

- **FACS terra clip**
"FACS" (Frog Ability Cell Skip) is an old trick we used to do to obtain an Ability Cell in Valley behind a Climb Charge Jump wall: even if we don't use the trick anymore, we still refer to that Ability Cell as FACS and, by extension, to this clip as FACS terra clip.
There isn't much to say about this, place Ori as shown below, die on the right side of the spikes and practice timing the Stomp down to the Ability Cell, as it is very easy to miss by Stomping early or late.

- **Ginso to end**
This is the most complex set of terra clips in the entire run, it can be very daunting at first but it becomes absolutely painless with practice.
From the Ginso Tree Spirit Well, move up to left core room and clip through the wall in the upper left corner of the room, making sure to kill the spider first, and go die in the spikes in the right core room while still carrying the Save Anywhere: upon respawn, Stomp almost immediately and make sure you drop down in the void **at Stomp speed** as the timing is very precise and you will need the right dropping speed: if you are unsure or can’t see Ori drop through the Save Anywhere, stomp once again as soon as you’re sure you have no ground below you (it may take a second to unload the ground after you clip sometimes).
Count exactly 5 seconds while dropping at Stomp speed and then Charge Dash save to the left (you can use your bind here, Charge Dash and save can happen together) two or three times with about one second delay each, which should throw you right into Horu, near a big boulder or just by the Energy Cell if you’re lucky.

Pick the Energy Cell up and don’t interact with the rock; I highly recommend placing a save here since your last save is out of bounds and you don’t want to rely on it any longer, move backwards through the room to the entrance door, but instead of crossing it jump on the highest branch on the tree to its left, and terra clip through it, exit the room and die in the spikes. Don’t go back in the room, as that will trigger a 35-second cutscene that you don’t want to watch.


Once you respawn while holding left, you’ll notice you are constantly flying to the leftmost edge of the screen through the tree and respawning in loop: your job now is to Stomp at the right time to stop Ori past the tree, but before he touches the edge and respawns, it can take several tries but hopefully it works out painlessly. Should you respawn and not phase through the tree, just exit the room and die to the spikes again.

Once you get on the other side of the tree, jump on the highest branch, place a save and set up a Save Anywhere, then Charge Jump towards the upper-left corner of the screen and save as you hit it, and this will let you clip to the water section in the escape without reloading the save: keep the Save Anywhere up, do Fish Strats™ and cross the ending trigger, save as Ori falls down just as soon as you see the burning tree with its upper trunk split in two, then quit and reload the save, only to hold right and end the run.

Controller Analog Double Bashing

This is a method for doing double bashes on controller. It's fairly easy and consistent, although it uses 2 out of 4 directional binds available on your right analog stick. (You can still use the other 2 directions for your other binds)

You need to bind your **keyboard** button for bash to opposite sides of your right analog stick. The double bashing is then performed by holding the right stick in one of the directions and then moving it to the opposite one, passing through a deadzone which acts as the one empty frame between the two bashes. 

For deadzone, the sweet spot I found is at 0.4, but feel free to play around with it. The higher your deadzone is, the faster you need to move your stick.

When attempting the double bash, there are two ways you can fail:
* the bash gets released without getting the double bash -- this happens if you move the stick too slow.
* the bash is still being held without getting the double bash -- this happens if you move the stick too quickly. You can still get the double bash out of this one by changing the direction again.

Escape grenade jump

To do the grenade jump in the final escape, prepare a wall charge jump aimed as high as possible, then throw a grenade and do the jump 1 frame later. Hold the jump at least until you bonk the roof, continue holding right and feather (unclear if feather is actually necessary) until you trigger the second part of the cutscene.

To find the position to do the charge jump from, refer to these images which show the lowest and highest position where these inputs will work (there may be some spots outside this range that work, but this is a particularly wide window). The small indent above Ori's hand in the first image is a good visual cue for this.

The y-position Ori is at in these images is, respectively, 553.06 and 553.69 (around 20x larger than the vanilla R1 OOB position).

Fast stompless practice tip

**What is "fast stompless" ?**
This tip aims to help the players who are trying to practice fast stompless. If you don't know what fast stompless is I recommend watching [this tutorial](https://youtu.be/Oel4qg2ap7s) from sigmasin.

**What is it all about ?**
Because of how fast stompless works there is no way to practice the angle of the bash, without doing a part of the movement towards the ability cell. The idea is to use the "advanced debug menu" to manually unload the cliff that prevents the shot from hitting the rocks above Kuro's head.

We're going to use the "advanced debug menu". To use it, you need to have the proper "debug menu" enabled. To enable it you can use [this tool](https://www.speedrun.com/tools/debug_v7sxs.zip) made by JHobz.

Here are the steps:
- Load a save at the fast stompless spot. Make sure to stand around the spot where you bash the shot. If you are standing too far left you will stand in the scene we are trying to unload.
- Open the advanced debug menu by hitting 8 and shift (R2/RT and R3 on controller).
- In the list, uncheck "sorrowPassValleyD".

Getting Started: Configuration Guide

This page details some recommended configuration steps and useful information to help you start running Ori.

# Debug Mode

Debug Mode is a useful practice tool built in to game. The game checks for the existence of “C:/temp/moonDebugPC.txt” when launched and enables debug if the file is there. You can create this file yourself or use the Debug Enabler found here: https://www.speedrun.com/ori_de/resources

Once enabled, press 8 or right stick to open the debug menu in game. This allows you to save anywhere, quickly load, set your health/energy/skills, jump to different parts of the game, and so on. To increment/decrement values, use the bind for Glide (shift or RT by default) and Charge Jump (W or LT by default).

Enabling “Debug Controls” in the left column adds some additional functions. Dash (ctrl or RB) will let you debug teleport, and Grenade (R or LB) will fast-forward the game.

Using debug functions to help you practice is highly recommended, but any use of debug in runs is disallowed.

# Control Schemes

Ori can be played effectively on controller, keyboard+mouse, or some combination of the two. The control scheme you use is personal preference, but there are advantages and disadvantages to both:

- KBM has more room for rebinding, and has access to scrollwheel binds for fast mashing
- KBM has an easier time with precise bash aim; movement keys are independent of bash aim, allowing for easier bash glides
- KBM can double-bind bash to make double bashing easier
- KBM can navigate the ability tree faster
- Controller can instantly aim charge jumps from walls
- Controller has analog movement (though you will be running at max speed 99% of the time)
- Controller can swim in any direction (KBM is limited to 8 )

At this time, KBM holds a roughly 10 second advantage over controller in All Skills no OOB/TA. The difference is more pronounced in All Cells (~20s for KBM) and nonexistent in Any%.

# Key Rebinding

Custom key bindings are allowed in Ori as long as there is no timing present in the bind. Multiple functions can be bound to the same key, but any kind of “do X, wait 0.1s, do Y” macro is disallowed.

You can set custom rebinds for Ori using the key rebindings file, found at “%localappdata%/Ori and The Blind Forest DE/KeyRebindings.txt”. To use the bindings in this file, change “Activate Key Rebinding: False” to “Activate Key Rebinding: True”, then set the desired binds. For example, to make Q perform a rocket jump, you would add “, Q” to the end of the Jump, Charge Jump, and Dash lines. If you’re unsure about what a key is called, see https://docs.unity3d.com/ScriptReference/KeyCode.html

For controller rebinding or functions not supported by the key rebindings file (mousewheel, for example), use of 3rd party software is allowed as long as wait times are not injected into commands. Which key rebinds you use are ultimately up to you, but here are some commonly used settings:


- Glide - Moved off of the default bind for keyboard (a mouse button instead of/in addition to shift)
- Dash - Moved off of the default bind for keyboard (a mouse button instead of ctrl)
- Charge Dash - Charge Jump and Dash on one button
- Rocket Jump - Jump, Charge Jump, and Dash on one button
- Save Anywhere - Spirit Flame and Escape on one button
- Proceed - Unbind Proceed from the Jump button (default Space) -- allows you to jump freely during Save Anywhere.
- Cancel - Unbind Cancel from the Bash button (default Mouse1) -- allows you to bash freely during Save Anywhere.

# Double Bound Double Bashing

If you release a Bash one frame, then re-press the Bash button on the next frame, Ori will be able to Bash twice off of the same target. When you perform this technique, the first Bash will determine the direction the target goes (opposite of the direction you aim it), and the second Bash will determine the direction Ori goes. Using this technique, you can move the target in a desired direction while following it closely.

Note: Bash has a 20 frame "windup" delay during which it cannot be released. If you release and re-press the Bash button/key during the windup delay, the Bash will simply not release. Make sure you wait for 20 frames (1/3 of a second) before trying to double Bash.

The difficulty of double bashing can be eased by using your native keyboard/mouse drivers or a third-party program such as x-mouse button control to simulate having 2 keyboards (or, actually use 2 keyboards). Having 2 keys bound to Bash allows for more consistent double bashes. Assuming the bash bind is the default “C”, this works as follows, where C1 and C2 are the two "C" binds:

1. Press and hold C1 to initiate the bash.
2. Aim the first bash. (wait at least 20 frames)
3. Tap C2 to trigger a double bash.
4. Aim the second bash.
5. Release C1.
By using 2 binds, essentially you trick the game into reading the release of C2 as the release of C1, then on the next frame, the game reads that C1 is held and causes a double bash. Many players use the mousewheel as the 2nd bind for the double bash.

# Autosplitting

A configurable autosplitter by Devilsquirrel is available for Livesplit: http://livesplit.github.io/

To activate the autosplitter, open “Edit Splits”, set the game name to one of “Ori DE”, “Ori and the Blind Forest DE”, or “Ori and the Blind Forest Definitive Edition”, then hit the “Activate” button. You will need to configure the autosplitter to match with where you split in game by pressing “Settings”.

# Modified DLLs

There are some community-accepted mods which change the game’s configuration for ease of use while not affecting gameplay. These can be found here: https://github.com/ShootMe/OriDETAS/releases/tag/Speedrun

The effect of each mod:


- NoPause: causes the game to not pause while not in focus.
- Save: Expands the amount of save slots from 10 to 50.
- MaxSave: Expands the amount of save slots from 10 to 127.
- Menu: PageUp and PageDown will scroll 10 slots through the menu screen
- Bash:  Increases the controller deadzone for bash (some controllers can do this through their drivers, some cannot)
- Green and Red: Makes Ori respectively turn green or red 100% of the time when the color code is used

To install one of these mods, rename it to “Assembly-CSharp.dll” and replace “Steam/steamapps/common/Ori DE/oriDE_Data/Managed/Assembly-CSharp.dll”.

**Important**: the “Assembly-CSharp.dll” on the linked page without any of the NoPause-... modifiers is the TAS creator version of the game. This file includes significant modifications that may have unintended effects on gameplay, and thus is not allowed for real-time speedruns.

How to setup & use the Debug Menu

Before we start it's important to remember that using the debug menu during a run is forbidden and will make a run invalid. 

To set it up you need to completely close ori if it's open, go into your drive where windows is ( which normally is C:\ ), make a folder called "temp" and make an empty text file called MoonDebugPC
You can create this file yourself or use the Debug Enabler found here: https://www.speedrun.com/ori_de/resources
This works with ORI Definitive edition bought through steam or GOG only. 

Once you have created this file you can close everything and launch the game. During any moment of gameplay you will be able to press Alpha8 (the number 8 on the keyboard, but not the one in the numpad) or the right analog stick to open the debug menu. 

All the following will take into consideration default bindings.

- On KB 
To move use arrows, but take care that the up arrow will cause any numeric parameter to go down.
Press W (= charge jump) to decrease values
Press Shift (= glide) to increment values. 
Press X (or your proced button) to select and deselect 
Press Esc to exit.

- On Controller
To move use °°°
Press RT (= charge jump) to decrease values
Press LT (= glide) to increment values. 
Press °°° to select and deselect 
Press °°° to exit.

How to setup LiveSplit for Ori DE (from A to Z)

This tutorial aims to explain how to fully setup LiveSplit for Ori and the Blind Forest Definitive Edition. It is an updated version of [this tutorial](https://www.speedrun.com/ori_de/guide/0hzv7) originally made by Trojandude12.

# Introduction

LiveSplit is a timer program for speedrunners made to help you time your runs and track your progress by allowing you to split your run into individual segments. Some games may have tools called "autosplitters" that will automatically split for you, which is the case for Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition. Finally it embeds SpeedRunsLive support to allow you to join races and compete with the community members.

# Installation

All you need is to download LiveSplit [here](https://livesplit.github.io/downloads/) and to go through the installation. Once the installation is done, launch LiveSplit and you will get something like this:

Before going any further, know that some livesplit configurations are available for Ori DE in the [resources](https://www.speedrun.com/ori_de/resources)

Note that you can skip the sections tagged as "[Advanced]" unless you want to tweak your livesplit in depth, as they are not required to get a liveplit up and running, ready for Ori runs.

# Game Time vs Real Time

To be valid, **any ori run has to be timed using Real Time** and not Game Time.

Long story short, some glitches, like "Save Anywhere", enable you to move and progress while the ability menu is open. Having the menu open in general stops the Game Time, distorting it entirely.

Make sure that the time comparison is set to "Real Time", which should be set by default. To check it, hit "Compare Against > Real Time". If the comparison is correctly configured, hitting "Edit Splits..." should automatically open the Real Time tab of the split editor. Make sure that any split change is done this tab.

# Splits and Layouts

When you install livesplit, you are using the default splits and the default layout.

## Splits

To submit a run you do not need to have different splits as the final time is the only time that matters, but having some helps improving because you can see where you gain/lose time over the run more precisely, you get access to your golds splits and, by extension your Sum of Bests. Your gold split is the best time you ever got on a section and your Sum of Bests the addition of all the golds splits, which technically represents the run "if you were playing perfectly".

By default, you only have one split. We will give that split a name. It can be whatever you want, but we will name it "End" to keep it explicit.

We can now add as many splits as we want, one by one. As an example we will add the “Wall Jump” split to our layout. To do so, we first need to hit "Insert Above" then give the new split the name “Wall Jump”.

First of all, we will replace the "Splits" component by the "Subsplits" one. Both components do basically the same except from the fact that the "Subsplits" one provides more customization options that we will cover later in the tutorial. Just keep in mind that you don't need to tweak those extra options. If you don't want to, "Subsplits" will behave exactly as regular "Splits". The problem occurs if you were initially using "Splits" and want to have access to those extra options "Subsplits" provides. You will have to switch and you will lose all your settings for that component, so better just use "Subsplits" from the begginning.

TL;DR: Subsplits better than Splits

To do so, hit Edit layout… > Layout Settings

For there you need to select "Splits" and then click ont the "-" button, then click on the "+" button, then add the "Subsplits" component under the "List" category. You can now use the arrow buttons to move the "Subsplits" up to where the "Splits" were

We can now start tweaking the layout.

Because the layout and the splits are independent, your layout might not have the right amount of lines. To adjust the number of lines shown on your layout hit Edit layout… > Layout Settings > Splits

Then increment/decrement the "Total Splits" as you like. You might want to update this value everytime you add/remove a split.

LiveSplit offers a lot of customization tools. Just spend some time in the layout settings and build a LiveSplit layout you like.

Now that we changed what we needed to, let’s save our changes. Right-click on the LiveSplit window, then both click Save Splits and Save Layout. LiveSplit will ask you to save 2 files:

• A LiveSplit Split file (.lss)
• A LiveSplit Layout file (.lsl)

I recommend you to think about how you will organize your files already. You will probably need a split file and a layout file for each game, and each category of a game. For example, you can create a folder "OriDE" with another one called "All Skills No OOBTA" (or whatever category you plan on running) inside it, where you can store your all skills split and layout files.

## Subsplits [Advanced]

Earlier in the tutorial, we replaced "Splits" by "Subsplits". Subsplits enable you to create group of splits that will unfold as you get to the first split of the group and fold once you're done with the last one.

The way it works is: Any split that starts with a dash becomes a subsplit. The group will unfold when reaching a subsplit during the run and will fold when reaching the next split whose name does not start with a dash, giving its name to the group. On the screenshot, "Leaving Ginso" is a subsplit and "Stomp" the next split whose name does not start with a dash, so "Leaving Ginso" and "Stomp" are both under the same group, the last split of the group being "Stomp" so the group's name is "Stomp".

If you don't want the last split of the group to give its name to the group, you can override it by prefixing the last split's name with "{group name}". In the example, if the stomp split was called "{Swamp} Stomp" instead of just "Stomp", there would be a group called "Swamp" with 2 splits "Leaving Ginso" and "Stomp" under it.

Subsplits are really handy if you want to time your runs really precisely without overloading your layout.

# Autosplitter

The autosplitter is a LiveSplit tool which splits when a condition based on a game event is filled. The latest versions of LiveSplit embed an autosplitter for Ori and the Blind Forest created by **DevilSquirrel**.

To enable the autosplitter, you first need to set the game name (we also set the category name at the same time because why not, but it's not required) you’re running and LiveSplit will detect if there is an autosplitter available for it.

To do so, go to Edit Splits…

• Game Name: Ori and the Blind Forest Definitive Edition ("Ori DE" works too)
• Run Category: All Skills (or whatever category you want to run)

Once you have done that, the "Activate" button should not be grayed out anymore and you should be able to click it. Click it, then hit "Settings".

In that window, you can see the "autosplits" that are already configured.

"Start Game" is an autosplit that is triggered when you choose the game difficulty. By default, it is the first one in the list so the timer will start as you select the difficulty.

"End Game" is an autosplit that is triggered when you lose control of Naru at the end of the final escape. By default, it is the last one in the list so the time will stop at the end of the game.

From that point we need to add some autosplits in between. Appart from the first autosplit (in most cases it's "Start Game") that will start the timer at the beginning of the run, every split on the layout has to have its related autosplit configured in the autosplitter, respecting the order !

## Basic Configuration

This section covers everything you need to have an autosplitter correctly configure, ready for your runs.

Here is the autosplit configuration to use with the splits we're using for the example.

That's it, you are good to go. All you have to do is save your splits and your layout and you're ready to start a run.
The autosplitter will automatically starts and stops the timer and split during the run.

## **Hidden (or unchecked) splits [Advanced]**

In the autosplitter settings, there is a checkbox next to every autosplit in the list. By default, checkboxes are checked when you add them.

• If the checkbox is checked off, this is the default behaviour, LiveSplit will split the current split when the condition is filled.

• If the checkbox is not checked off, LiveSplit will check the condition but won't split the current split. We can see it as a requirement for the next split

For example, if you have the following autosplit configuration:

• Start Game (checked)
• Wall Jump (checked)
• Dash (checked)

The autosplitter will start the timer, split when you get to wall jump tree then split when you get to dash tree.

Now, if you add an extra "Charge Flame (unchecked)" between the "Wall Jump" and "Dash" autosplit like this:

• Start Game (checked)
• Wall Jump (checked)
• Charge Flame (unchecked)
• Dash (checked)

The autosplitter will start the timer, split when you get to wall jump tree but it won't split at dash tree **unless** you collect charge flame after leaving wall jump tree and before getting to dash, so the unchecked charge flame autosplit becomes a *requirement* of the dash autosplit.

A commonly used sequence of autosplits. This one splits when it detects a reload, often used to split when we enter Blackroot Burrows in All Skills, as it's the first save and reload in this section.

## **Hitbox Splits [Advanced]**

The autosplitter enables you to create your own autosplits using hitboxes. You define a rectangle based on its coordinates and the autosplitter will be triggered as soon as Ori steps in it.
Under the autosplitter settings, you can add an autosplit as any other autosplit and select "Hitbox" in the list, you then need to fill a textfield. The textfield must contain the coordinates of the hitbox and the syntax for a hitbox is:

**X-pos**, **Y-pos**, **width**, **height**

*where X-pos, Y-pos defines the **top left corner of the box***.

Here is the hitbox of valley TP as an example.

Key rebinding guide (using AHK)

Setting up key rebindings can quickly become obnoxious as the complexity and the number increases. In fact, the default rebinding system the game provides turns out to be pretty limited, forcing you to configure extra external tools such as your peripherals software or community ones like XMouse, in case you want to change the behavior of your scroll wheel. That's where AutoHotkey can come into play.

AHK is a scripting tool which enables you to rebind any key you are using, including scroll wheel. It can also be used to lock your cursor within the game window. All of that in one portable script that you can easily start, stop and customize as you wish.

Leveraging rebind through AHK can be daunting, this guide walks you through setting it up while complying with leaderboard rules.

Before starting, just a quick reminder about rebinding rules.

> Custom key bindings are allowed in Ori as long as there is no timing present in the bind. Multiple functions can be bound to the same key, but any kind of “do X, wait 0.1s, do Y” macro is forbidden.

## How to configure your script

The script is written to give you an easy way to rebind your scroll wheel. You can configure the rebind through the **MOUSE_WHEEL_UP_BIND_TO** and **MOUSE_WHEEL_DOWN_BIND_TO** variables.

The default resolution is 1920*1080. If you have a different screen resolution, you can modify **SCREEN_RES_WIDTH** and **SCREEN_RES_HEIGHT** according to your screen size.

If you are not playing Ori on your main screen, the cursor lock feature may not work correctly.

By default, the script is meant to play with Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition. If you want to adapt the script to another game or to the vanilla version of the game, you can modify the **GAME_NAME** variable to fit your need.

# Gotchas

When it comes to AHK and rebinding softwares, it can be especially hard to get a grasp of the behavior of the different tools. Here’s a little list of some problems that you could encounter.

## Modificators 

Pay attention to how you prefix the key that should be rebound. In most general cases you want to prefix it with a “*” which means it will ignore any modificator.

If the wildcard is forgotten, rebinding might not work when pressing it at the time with other keys such as “Alt”, “Shift”, or “Ctrl”.

## Forbidden rebind notation 

While searching on the internet you may encounter a simpler syntax for simple rebinds on AHK.

While this syntax might be simpler, it is actually forbidden as it can input multiple presses of the key instead of holding it.

## Alt-tabbing while key is held

Pay attention when using rebind together with switching windows.

If you switch windows when one of our rebind is held and release when not on the game, the simulated key will not be released.

Such a behavior should not be exploited to gain any benefit.

If you happen to get this unintentionally, you can usually get rid of the simulated input by pressing your rebind key again.You can also restart the script if that happens.

## Cursor Lock on Linux

Cursor Lock is handled in the quickstart code through Windows API call. Hence the current AHK cursor lock function doesn’t work on other operating systems such as any Linux distribution.

Normal+ File Creation

A guide on how start a normal+ file. This is a file with: sein, wall jump, cflame, djump, bash, stomp, glide, climb, 3 energy, 3 hp that is on normal mode. Optimially should take you about 1:20 seconds.

**Steps/Explanation for Easier Setup:**

- Start a one life file
- Menu storage the pause menu
- Die
- Wait for the "You have died" screen to completely appear
- Exit to menu using non-proceed binds
- Restart the dead onelife file created and repeat steps 2 through 5
- Start a new Normal mode file
- Instead of skipping the prologue use a proceed bind to proceed both (total of 2) "You have died" screens. You have to wait inbetween proceeding each menu or you will get input locked. (Default Proceed Keys: space, return)
- Die in this file (sometimes refered to as a two life file). This will create a broken state dead one life file.
- Restart the original dead one life file
- Wait until the game autosaves (audio cue)
- Game storage
- Start broken one life file

**Steps/Explanation for Optimal Setup:**


- Start a one life file
- Menu storage the pause menu
- Die
- Wait for the "You have died" screen to completely appear
- Exit to menu using non-proceed binds
- Restart the dead onelife file created
- Game Storage as soon as you load in
- Load the file again (you should skip the "ori getting up animation" if you gamestorage properly).
- Repeat steps 2 through 5
- Start a new Normal mode file
- Instead of skipping the prologue use a proceed bind to proceed both (total of 2) "You have died" screens. Personally for consistency I have to wait between starting the new file and proceeding each menu.
- Die in this file (sometimes refered to as a two life file). This will create a broken state dead one life file.
- Restart the original dead one life file
- Wait until the game autosaves (audio cue)
- Game storage
- Start broken one life file

**Menu Storage:**
Menu storage is when you open a menu and then regain control of ori while keeping that menu up. Many menus have object in them that can be selected to display extra information. If you click on many of the object on the pause menu it will give you a text explanation. From this state if you press cancel and jump or cancel and spirit flame keys simultaneously it will keep the menu up but you will regain control of ori. If you know what Save Anywhere is this is conceptually identical.

**Game Storage:**
Quick explanation: Game storage is (as far a my understanding goes) when you store certain states and properties from a file by pressing proceed on the frame after you leave a file. It causes all sorts of really weird stuff that is difficult to explain. To excute this trick it is best to have scroll wheel bound to a proceed key or to have a secondary key bound to proceed. Then get to the part in the menu where you have the prompt box "Return to Main Menu?" then press a key to advance the menu then press your secondary key right away. Alternativly, if you are using a scroll wheel you just need to time your scroll correctly and you can get it rather consistently. There is a certain audio cue that occurs when you get game storage but you also can confirm it by pressing a cancel input on the file selection menu and instead of backing up to the previous menu it will pull up a sort of pause menu if you have performed game storage correctly.

**Game Storage for when doing Optimal Setup:**
If you are doing it with optimal setup you run into a particular problem where proceed will advance the "you have died menu" but so far it is the only way to do game storage. Note this game storage is only to skip the "ori waking up" animation. While behind the "you have died" screen you can have a special profile that sends mouse0 (left click) inputs through scroll wheel to cause game storage (LusTher). However, I personally think it has a different feeling and it not as easy. I have also gotten game storage under "you have died" screen by pressing a SA proceed bind (jump, cancel, proceed) to advance the "Return to Main Menu?" prompt and then press your mouse0 to cause game storage but this is not throughly tested yet.

**Advice for Binds (If you are using default binds do not worry about binds):**
If you don't care about menuing with only left click default properties then you can disregard all of the following and just take mouse0 off of proceed. If you like to menu with proceed or proceed+left click properties you will most likely want to create seperate profiles.  Whatever you have in your main profile is completely preference but you cannot have mouse0 on proceed in KeyRebindings.txt. Instead take a key that you aren't using like for instance "H" and put it on proceed. Then have left click, scroll wheel or whatever your menuing key to send H and/or mouse0. In the bind profile for the trick you need to have a key bound to send just left click which the game will interpret as mouse0. I also recommend you have a SA key (proceed, cancel, jump) so that when you are menuing back to the main menu under the "you have died" screen you can use it to advance the "Return to Main Menu?" prompt without having to move your mouse. I am going to be honest and just say that depending on how you like binds this could be very difficult or very easy. Feel free to talk to me or anyone in the Ori Discord about binds.

**IMPORTANT NOTE:** Because of the hardcoded properties of left click (mouse0) this trick is possible. If you have mouse0 bound to proceed in KeyRebindings.txt this trick is impossible.

Lure the birds in the same way the video shows it (tip watch the video reference often if you seem to not get any closer to how it should look like). Take damage on the bird immediately use your i-frames to jumpoff of the spikes on the ground (try to get as high as posible). Should you use 5 health you can also damageboost directly on the spike wall on the right. Just remember to get as high as posible. Once in this position BASH the bird upwards and hold your feather. Also hold the button that loads up your chargedash. once the bird is bashed away press your DASH button ( Bash =/= Dash ). This will immediately catapult you to the bird. Now hold your feather and bash off of the bird to safety up above.

[section=Introduction]
In the last month or so the route for All Cells has changed quite a lot thanks to quite a few tricks that have been discovered and saved about 30 seconds or so: since the revisit routing has changed and we have a few new tricks to learn, I decided to step in and create a full guide for anyone interested in the new tricks or in picking the category up in general.
All Cells is a glitch-unrestricted category that only requires ending the game with all the 12 Health Cells, 15 Energy Cells and 33 Ability Cells available in the game.
This guide assumes good command over the All Skills No OOB no TA category, and will only delve into details about anything that is not done in ASnOOBnTA. Please refer to the very well-made guides we have on that category should you have any doubts on tricks this article doesn't explain.


[section=Terra clips]
The most relevant trick that this category has to offer that is not in All Skills is called Terra clipping, and is the main way of clipping out of bounds in this game: it is performed by setting up a Save Anywhere, dashing or cdashing towards a wall or obstacle while unlocking an ability (which will automatically save the game), then dying far enough from the same wall or obstacle to have the game unload it. Doing so, Ori will respawn dashing through the wall before the game loads it, successfully moving out of bounds and allowing a series of extremely useful sequence breaks throughout the run.

Due to the cost in both energy and ability points, failing terra clips can be extremely costly to the overall run time, and sometimes it can go as far as corrupting the save, making it impossible to continue the run without loading a backup save: being consistent at terra clips is crucial, but don't be discouraged as the trick itself is really not hard to pull off.


[section=Early game route changes]
In this guide I will refer to anything before unlocking Glide (Kuro's Feather) as "early game", anything from there to unlocking Light Grenade as "mid-game" and anything past that as "late game".
This section will quickly underline the early game differences from All Skills routing in this category, since the overall route is the same, but having access to OOB and needing a longer experience route requires some changes.

* **OOB tricks**:
**Blackroot Burrows to Moon Grotto boulder clip**: performed by positioning Ori leaning on the square wall at the end of the boulder escape section, ducking and waiting for the boulder to push you under the floor, then waiting for it to move past the spikes and dashing several times to the right while ducking until you reach the far right of the screen. This will deal 2 points of damage to Ori so make sure to have more than that at that point.

**Ginso puzzle room boulder clip**: performed by saving between the wall and the boulder on the upper left corner of the puzzle room in Ginso, then moving the boulder to the wall, letting go of it, rekindling the save and quit+reloading the game while holding the "movement down" button. This will let Ori phase through the ground, past the wall you would be supposed to break with a flower projectile. The save must be placed far enough from the wall but also to the left of the wall below it, because having the save too much on the right would leave Ori stuck between the ground and the wall.

* **Experience route changes**:
**GET**: 15xp at Grotto Skip, 100xp by the cutscene skip before Water Vein, 100xp before the Gumo lasers after getting out of Thornfelt Swamp (DO NOT get this pickup before entering ginso).
**SKIP**: nothing.
* Another important thing to be aware of is that you will need the Ginso and Valley Spirit Wells as available teleport locations, so make sure you do step on Ginso’s Well after successfully doing core skip and on Valley’s Well after obtaining Glide, otherwise you will lose several minutes.



[section=Mid-game]
Here All Cells diverges from the All Skills route and makes its own way through the content to unlock fast movement before proceeding to collect every cell in the game: since unlocked skills are no requirement for the category, the Climb tree will be completely ignored as there is nothing to collect in Misty Woods past a certain point, and the skill itself is not worth the time investment required to get it. On top of that, it will also be necessary to visit Forlorn as there is one Health Cell there, two rooms away from the core room, from which the escape sequence will be then skipped altogether through Save Anywhere.
Since describing every single cell pickup in the game might be a little inefficient, a link will be provided at the end of this guide showing a full run, from which you will be able to discern all the pickups and their order.

* Moving into Sorrow Pass thanks to the scary Sorrow Bash trick, it will be necessary to take a detour before reaching Charge Jump to collect a few cells on the way. After picking up Charge Jump, Sunstone will not be collected and you will only need to get a Health Cell and an Ability Cell on the way out.
* Misty Woods is the next place we will see now, and the movement is exactly the same as in All Skills all the way up to the Atsu's Torch cutscene, although right before getting there you will need to get an Ability Cell to the left. After seeing Atsu's Torch, place yourself leaning on the wall, then move ever so slightly to the left and set up a Save Anywhere, then dash or charge dash to the right and save on the same frame (it is suggested to create a keybind containing RIGHT+DASH+PROCEED and one with LEFT+DASH+PROCEED to make terra clips much easier), then die all the way to the left in the spikes near the slime and hold "movement right" as you respawn, which will let you dash through the wall successfully. Once all this is done, **move to the edge of the ground, and dash glide into the void, hold right, double jump and keep holding right until you see Ori's white trail of particles disappear: this means the next zone has been loaded, and you're approaching the last room of the Forlorn Ruins**.

* Once you see Ori's trail disappear, hold Glide and make sure you don't hit the long ice spikes below you, then safely drop down to the room below where the laser cycle will start: from here you need to open the door to the right by stomping a peg below it, then move in that direction through three lasers to obtain a Health Cell, the only cell in this area. Move back to the core room and set up a Save Anywhere, then restore the Wind Element; wait until the screen goes black and you see a different room, then save by getting an ability and reload the save, this will warp Ori near the teleporter, effectively skipping the entirety of Forlorn Escape and letting you teleport away to the Sunken Glades, our next stop.
* From the Sunken Glades teleporter, enter Blackroot Burrows and pick up the Ability Cell in the first big room, then move down to Light Grenade in one of two ways: stomping the floor to the left of boulder escape, or terra clipping from where you first find the light orb directly to the tree. I didn't include this trick in the set-in-stone routing for the category since it makes the experience route a bit different and has not yet been perfectly timed. I would definitely recommend to go the intended way to newer runners.

From here on, what is called the “revisit” starts, as we now possess all the movement skills we need and we are on our merry way to collect every single cell in the game that we don’t already have.


[section=Late game]
All Cells late game is all about collecting the remaining cells throughout the map and finishing the game as quickly as possible.

* After picking up Light Grenade, it’s time to move up to the cutscene trigger, activate the grenade door to the right and pick up the Ability Cell, then go deeper down in the Burrows to the right.
After picking up a Health Cell and and two Ability Cells, you should terra clip to skip opening a grenade door and fighting a forced battle: lean on the wall of one of the small stairs below the slime by the Ability Cell and, after killing said slime, terra clip towards that wall and go die past the laser, up in the spikes above a frog and a slime; upon respawn, hold left and immediately stomp down directly to the lantern that you will need to activate to proceed to the Lost Grove.
Once all cells in Lost Grove have been picked up as well, you will need to perform another terra clip, this time twice, to move from the Grove to the very bottom of Moon Grotto: lean on the rightmost wall in the room you terra clipped in previously, make sure there are no enemies around and terra clip through it, then go die in the spikes down in Lost Grove to the right above the underwater crushers; hold right and stomp immediately. Now set up another Save Anywhere if you haven’t carried the previous one while dying, charge jump, charge dash and save manually to make sure you delay the save by a bit to save while hitting the loadzone. It’s very difficult to obtain a hyperspeed from this clip, but you can just charge dash a couple times while holding Glide to successfully make it through *mostly* unscathed.

* Once in Moon Grotto, deactivate the lasers with the lever right above you and proceed to pick up the various cells one by one making your way up to the long vertical drop, but instead of going all the way up get th Ability Cell to the left and terra clip through the wall right by it, take the Health Cell and teleport away to the Valley of the Wind.
* From the Valley teleporter move down and get the so-called FACS Ability Cell, either by using a frog shot to break the wall or by terra clipping to it from the petrified plant below the Spirit Well. Now move down towards the entrance of Forlorn to get the Ability Cell locked behind the grenade door, then go back to the room with three birds and move right in the direction of the Spirit Tree, only stopping to get the Energy Cell in the underwater maze.
* Move past the Spirit Tree and drop down back into the Sunken Glades to the right of the Charge Flame tree, then go left and up to get the Ability Cell behind the grenade door, the one behind the 4 energy door and the Energy Cell above the laser; now get the underwater Energy Cell below the first keystone door of the game, the Ability Cell by the Fronkey Walk fronkey and move past the beginning of the game to the 4 energy door to grotto.
* Clean up the gauntlet area, don’t forget to get the 2 energy door Health Cell if you didn’t earlier on and move up towards Thornfelt Swamp to the right: don’t go back in the post-Ginso escape area but instead move up to the entrance of the Ginso tree, collecting the cells you don’t have yet, then go left to the spider sack area in the Hollow Grove.
* Rocket jump off the first spider you see hanging above the water and get the Energy and Health Cells up there, then move deeper into the spider nest to collect the remaining cells in there, and go back to enter the Horu Fields.
* After taking the Health Cell, remember to open the baneling gate with a stomp or baneling and stomp the peg beyond it, to make the Spirit Well accessible; get the Energy Cell above the Elementals and the Ability Cell below the breakable ground, keeping in mind that the boulder you push down on the ground can softlock you: it is best to make a backup save in case that happens, though the chances are very low. Move back to the Spirit Well and teleport to Ginso for the final section of the game.
* From the Ginso Tree Spirit Well, move up to left core room and terra clip through the wall in the upper left corner of the room, making sure to kill the spider first, and go die in the spikes in the right core room while still carrying the Save Anywhere: upon respawn, stomp almost immediately and make sure you drop down in the void **at stomp speed** as the timing is very precise and you will need the right dropping speed: if you are unsure or can’t see Ori drop through the Save Anywhere, stomp once again as soon as you’re sure you have no ground below you (it may take a second to unload the ground after you clip sometimes).
Count exactly 5 seconds while dropping at stomp speed and then charge dash to the left+save two or three times with about one second delay each, this should throw you right into Horu, near a rock or just by the Energy Cell if you’re lucky. Pick the Energy Cell up and don’t interact with the rock; I highly recommend placing a save here since your last save is out of bounds and you don’t want to rely on it for any longer, then move backwards through the room to the entrance door, but instead of crossing it jump on the highest branch on the tree to its left, and terra clip through it, exit the room and die in the spikes. Don’t go back in the room, as that will trigger a 35-second cutscene that you don’t want to watch.
Once you respawn while holding left, you’ll notice you are constantly flying to the leftmost edge of the screen through the tree and respawning in loop: your job now is to stomp at the right time to stop Ori past the tree, but before he touches the edge and respawns, it can take several tries but hopefully it works out painlessly. Should you respawn and not phase through the tree, just exit the room and die to the spikes again.
Once you get on the other side of the tree, jump on the highest branch, place a save and set up a Save Anywhere, then charge jump exactly to the corner of the screen and save as you hit it, and this will let you clip to the water section in the escape without reloading the save: keep the Save Anywhere up, do Fish Strats™ and cross the ending trigger, then save just as soon as you see the burning tree with its upper trunk split in two, then quit and reload the save, only to hold right and end the run.

Why play All Cells?
While All Skills forbids OOB and ends the game shortly after obtaining all the late game movement skills, All Cells allows the player to truly optimize their movement throughout the revisit thanks to charge dashes and terra clips, and while All Skills is definitely the best category to start running this game, I would suggest All Cells to any player that enjoys not only moving out of bounds, but also soaring through the map spending a lot of energy thanks to constant refills and getting to see more of the game than just the ability trees.
