Yo! I've been speedrunning for around a year now, and pretty much exclusively the DKC games. Do any People here have tips on sick speedgames for SNES, GB-GBA? (not SM or ALTTP). If you've got some great suggestions on other platforms I'll Still take a look, just that SNES & GB-GBA are readily available at the moment. Cheers!
Gonna start by recommending the predictable popular games. Basically all the 2D Mario games (But especially Yoshi's Island). GnG Series. Goof Troop. Some SMW romhacks also have SNES ports so those could be cool too.
As weird as it might sound, Open Season on the GBA is actually quite a solid speedgame. They were looking for runners, figured I'd give it a shot, and was pleasantly surprised. Roland's Quest 2 on the GB also happens to be a rather interesting game I haven't had the time to get to yet. Same goes for Spirits and Spells on the GBA.
As for the SNES, Starfox, Mario Kart, and the two Mana games come to mind.

Open Season (GBA) - 2D-platformer game. 21 minute long run. Really sick timesaves were found in the past year, most of them involving faster ways to defeat bosses. Honestly a solid game that I'd love to see more people try. GBA carts sell at 4 CAD, and emu is also allowed.

You can always just look under a platform for the most popular games (section 1 of FAQs) https://www.speedrun.com/speedrunning/thread/pt010 , but personally I recommend advance wars. The problem is, it's 100% not a good speedgame, I just recommend it is a solid game lol.
If you're interested in some GB/A RPGs, I can recommend:
- Golden Sun 1 & 2
- Zelda Oracle of Seasons
- Zelda Oracle of Time I'm not speedrunning these games, but I like watching them.

Having never watched an Advance Wars speedrun I'm gonna say Advance Wars cause the game is dope.
