This is a revised Monk Route which uses 1 Red Mage and 1 Black Mage, instead of 2 Red Mages. The Black Mage stands out as your primary magic damage dealer, dealing significantly greater AoE damage to random encounters, as well as having the option to use Scourge on Tiamat 1 for a potential quick-kill.

This latest revision includes a new equipment route using 1 Mythril Glove/1 Protect Ring, instead of 4 Protect Rings. This saves 48,000 Gil and offers a lot of flexibility if you end up with extra money, but relies on the hidden Magic Defense stat to guard against Status Ailments until Ribbons are obtained (and there is still some risk afterward).
