The game has lower graphics qualities that you can switch to, but your settings will be reset when you click new game so if you have to change them to allow your computer to run the game you can lose precious time.

My solution to this has been to change the resolution. Lowering the resolution causes the game to be a bit fuzzy, but it runs much smoother and more importantly it saves your resolution choice when you select new game.
