More info on Tier5 category

how would this work? start new game -> do 7*4=28 quests to unlock tier 5 quests -> get and do a tier 5 quest -> return to trader to hand it in then stop the clock? or be any level with any equipment have a teir5 quest. have the timer start when you hit 'E' to reset the POI and start the quest. have the timer stop when the quest says "return to trader" meaning that you have finished the quest and now just have to return to get the rewards.

also the type of teir5 quest is important. there 4 types. and the "fetch" is the fastest. maybe this category should be broken out my POI and quest type?

Its a good question. I took it as 'fastest to unlock tier 5' meaning aa soon as you complete the return part of the queet to the opening trades for tier 5 you stop the clock.

it's to complete any tier 5, starting from a new game. Do whatever you want to get there. You should pick your quests based on what you think you are most fit to do in that part of the run. As far as I know, the one that is currently on the board is accurate.

Just completing a tier 5 would be an "individual level" speedrun

is there an individual level category for 7 days? Fastest clear of a particular tier 5 would be fun.

the current run in the teir5 category is 13 hours. that is a long time playing.

There is a lot of different missions. Making ILs for all of them would be annoying to scroll through. Maybe I could do a "complete any trader quest" speedrun.

that is true there are lots of POIs and quests. one idea could be one level for each quest type and tier: tier 1 clear -> tier 5 clear tier 1 fetch -> tier 5 fetch tier 1 fetch_clear -> tier 5 fetch_clear tier 2 restore_power, tier 3 restore_power, tier 4 restore_power

that would be 18 "levels" this would allow any POI of that tier to be used. I think that would make the runs all very different. and I think it would be fun to try and find what POI can be done the fastest. and what short cuts can be used. like use dynomite to blow a hole in a wall or something.

I might just do tier 1s for now, because those are easiest to do. Tier 5 requires you to have that save ready before hand, resetting would be hell, and where exactly you'd start the timer from would be heavily debated. Not to mention that you'd have to grind a game for hours and hours to get the best loot for the job. A tier 1 you could just start at the beginning of the game and run straight to the trader.

the timer would start from the activation of the quest? like the yellow bouncing "!" and the timer would stop when the quest objective changes to "return to trader"

my thinking is that people can submit runs from a game they are already playing. you can also use creative mode and console commands to get any tier quest, and get the equipment. and get the level needed for a quest? as long as they dont use them during the quest it should be fine.

would that work? or am I missing something?

Is it allowed to re-enter game? This resets quests list and could massively shorten tier5 run.

Ok, but since it's a strategy, no pausing the timer while exiting and reentering. (the only time you can pause timer is when game is paused and nothing is being effected, so if you're leaving the game to do a strat then it counts as being timed.)

Is dying allowed? Including intentional.

outside of cheating, you can do whatever you want while the timer is ticking. As long as it's not something that would be obviously considered cheating by a casual 7dtd player (editing your files, using commands)

20.1 (finally) goes stable - it's ok to use it or it have to be 20.0?

I'm pretty sure you can use what ever version you wanna use. The real question how much advantage you wanna have? Different versions have different handicaps, you decide. What version you enjoy the best use that version, nothing else matter, I think.

Any of the A20's will be fine. But, I'm sure if there was some sort of drastic change (like imagine from A20.1 to A20.2 something changes with the stamina or whatever), we'd discuss it in the Discord to see if we need to do something about it.

And feel free to join the 7dtd speedrunning Discord, no one really uses these forums, whereas a bunch of us are always in the Discord chats.

ThreePercentNS I could see that being the case

What Three said + since everyone is using re-logging it should not count for time. Hardware wars.

Hello everyone, I post the message because in 7 days and in the future speedrun attribute for the game, a thermal bath on the guess and the developers on the already talking and the aura of a final boss and the run to finish the game of the same way final quest will be able to see the light of day. For the moment we are not there yet but in the last 3 months the game has evolved a lot and the most difficult quests are at stufe 6, previously it ended at lvl 5 I find that it no longer makes sense to run tier 5 because tier 6 seems to be more logical, Especially since finishing the T5 quests to access T6 is a difficult and very interesting part of the run to play for the moment I have done several t6 runs and my personal best is 5h20 but I think we can go much lower I imagine around 4h30 which in my opinion is not too much for a run There, what do you think ?
