As I mentioned in the news post I published yesterday, we need to start organizing the times for the Stage 1 category. I will review all uploaded runs to correct the times and measure them all in the same way. Some things to keep in mind:

  • Runs will be measured with a tool that counts frames from videos uploaded to YouTube called Youtube Frame Timer https://retime.mcbe.wtf/. By adjusting the fps to the rate at which the video is uploaded and marking exactly the starting frame (when the pink circle appears around the play button) and the final frame (when the in-game marker at the bottom reads 1000), you get the time that will be considered for the run.
  • The way YouTube processes videos means that sometimes some frames can be lost, even from one measurement to another there can be a difference of 1 or 2 frames. In this way, the measurement will be done several times and the highest frame count will be taken as the time (thus trying to avoid errors due to frame losses). However, if each user makes the frame count before uploading the video to YouTube, that time will be taken as true (as long as it is not very different from the measured result from the YouTube video).
  • The rules of each category will be rewritten to make the measurement method clearer, and each user can check the times for themselves and, if they wish, obtain the time of their run before uploading it to be verified."

As I have previously posted in a forum post, I have requested the role of moderator to mitigate the problem of inactivity from the game's current moderators. Currently, Otterstone_Gamer is the only moderator actively verifying runs, however, the lack of activity from the other two moderators means that not every run uploaded to any of the three categories can be closely monitored.

So, now that I have been assigned the role of moderator, I will begin making changes over the coming hours/days in various aspects:

  • Aesthetic changes to the game's page.

  • Verification of run times, especially in the "Stage 1" category, since its times demand precision to the hundredth of a second, and many of the runs are hand-timed, without taking frame count into account.

  • Possible inclusion of new categories. Some of the suggestions have been "Race to Overtime II", "Commuter World" (as a nod to the game Does Not Commute, also by Mediocre, but it could be done for any of the other three minigames "Lazer Racer", "Space Rocks", or "Ascender"). Another category that several of us will have surely thought of is, like the one that exists for "Stage 1", a category for each level of the game, but that would imply having the premium version of the game, and given that this is a game with very little activity, it would be necessary to evaluate whether it would make sense to include something like this. Feel free to post any suggestions through posts in the game's forum.
