Cool Skips for Any%

There are several places in an Any% run where you can skip cutscenes and chunks of a level by going into cool mode and then dropping out of cool mode after holding it for one phrase. There are 3 skips in stage 2 and stage 3 and 2 skips in stage 7. If all of the skips are done right, you can save a considerable amount of time.

Stage 2 (Romantic Love):

The first skip of stage 2 starts on the 4th line of lesson one. Go into cool mode starting on the “love turn” line and hold cool for one phrase before failing out of cool mode.

The second skip of stage 2 starts on the 4th line of lesson 2. Go into cool mode starting on the “let’s get it on” line and hold cool for one phrase before failing out of cool mode.

The final skip of stage 2 starts on the 4th line of lesson 3. Go into cool mode starting on the “won’t last forever” line and hold cool for one phrase before failing out of cool mode.

Stage 3 (BIG):

The first skip of stage 3 starts on the 2nd line of lesson 1. Go into cool mode starting on the “what’s that sound, who dat be huh?” line and hold cool for one phrase before failing out of cool mode.

The second skip of stage 3 starts on the 2nd line of lesson 2. Go into cool mode starting on the “better make it quick, hey hey look down” line and hold cool for one phrase before failing out of cool mode.

The final skip of stage 3 starts on the last line of lesson 3. Start getting cool on the “let’s not waste no time, here we go alright” line and then go into cool mode on the first line of lesson 4. After going into cool mode, keep it until the end of the stage. This is the only skip where you hold cool for more than one line.

Stage 7 (Noodles Can’t Be Beat):

The first skip of stage 7 starts on the 1st line of lesson 1. Go into cool mode starting on the “slurp it, suck it, I know you all like it” line and hold cool for one phrase before failing out of cool mode.

The final skip of lesson 7 starts on the last line of lesson 2. Start getting cool on the “As long as they got noodles, the king of all foods” line and then go into cool mode on the first line of lesson 3. After holding cool for one phrase, fail out of cool mode.

How to get sub 31 on PaRappa 2

Here is my strategy guide to help you get a good time.

1. Hold L1 and L2: L1 and L2 skips the cutscene and the boxy boy practice so the stage loads faster.

2. Press Triangle to not save, then spam the Cross button to quickly start the next stage: This is kinda helpful to know because obviously its faster if you dont save and PaRappa automatically moves to the next stage after you're done.

3. DONT GET "BAD" IF YOU WANT A GOOD TIME: Getting "Bad" can waste a lot of time, at least 10 seconds in your run because the devs thought it was a good idea to tell you that you're bad.

Heres some things you need to look out on your run.

Stages 2, 4, and 6 have the bonus mode, so after you finish those stages, spam the start button to skip it.

Meters

There are times when the meters at the bottom are important for getting a huge time save. Here are a description of what the meters do.
The blue meter measures how you mimic the buttons given to you in a line. The first button is very important, and if you mess up the first one, the blue meter will go down and you will not get that many points/lose points.
The orange meter measures how well your buttons are placed. The amount of buttons matter and you get a huge score boost for that. Make sure you hit it on the white dots or the orange meter goes down.
The purple meter is my personal favorite. It measures the funky flow of your freestyle (that is, how many offbeat buttons you press late). It grants you a huge score boost if the purple meter goes up. Otherwise, you won’t get that much points. If you hit notes early or offbeats on the dots, the purple meter will not be affected. Tip: Hit the buttons late but not too late; it still needs to be to the music and it still needs to be on the points.
