Basic Guide to What the Golf

This is as much a guide for myself as for anyone else, but i think it'd be nice to keep track of this info somewhere, and if others have input i'd gladly welcome it.  I'm new to speedrunning, but this game is so charming that i need a reason to keep coming back.

Basic tips:
You need 5 crowns by the time you finish Area 8, and 10 crowns by the time you finish area 4.  Picking these up on your way is important, but i haven't routed which are the fastest/most consistent; even if i had, your preferred holes may vary.

Just a bit of patience will go a long way to more consistently fast runs.  Going full speed means squat if you're not finishing the hole on your first try.

Avoid unneeded holes.  Any hole not in an themed area can be skipped after the intro, and there are a few holes that are skippable within some areas as well.  These are:
- Left hand side in the four-portal hallway
- In last meat boy sector, the farthest hole down in the last sector (i think)
- Far north and far southeast islands (also needs verification)

Other than that, focus and memorization are the most important things.  There's a lot going on in this game, but thankfully you can recognize most holes without having to memorize the order as a rule.  Good luck with your runs, and may the hotdog bounce in your favour.
