Faster paced RTA setup that seems even more consistent:
So far this route is 3 for 3 with my attempts
Better RTA setup:
Walled City Void Walking Height Map:
If you spam A and staff swing 3 times when loading into the WC void walk section, you can figure out Fox's Y position using these visual cues:
Here is a method to get a good camera every time for K5E:
I hold A the entire time, and press left for just a short period (I use the music to help time it)
Then I tap L until I get a good camera, and move the camera out of bounds in fireblast stance slightly to fix the camera in place
Can temporarily skip the bomb spore patch dialog.
I think this was being done by accident in runs sometimes, but it wasn't documented
If we could entirely skip the dialog in TTH, it could be a small time save in void travel route
The bounty has been solved for finding an RTA Bike Flag Glitch setup https://speedrunbounties.gg/bounty/620863a3ff4955001fd17592#submissions
Here is another setup that "works":
We need to find a way to improve/normalize Fox's starting position, but otherwise these setups are the best we have right now, and still work reasonably well.
Not super interesting, but by spinning the camera after doing a DR GrubTub dismount, DR reloads
This can cause a few effects:
- Nothing happens
- Soft-lock / crash
- CRF files load, causing massive lag
In theory it may be possible to do a stale mount pointer manip to hit the save triger passed the high top gate, but it would probably be TAS only.
Single-File can do DIME too, because we can potentially finish the SnowHorn Challenge with shield/GQ hovers
However you need to do the hovers in under ~37s. Single-File can potentially do GQ hovers too by getting GQ with cam-lock.
New potential WC void walking strat -- it turns out there is an invisible ledge grab trigger out of bounds near this bomb spore plant.
This means we can gain height here. I'll need to see if this opens up new strats.
Trigger Y position is -1081, Fox can hit it with a Y position around -1061, not sure how much margin of error.
There are many levels with OOB ledge grab triggers floating above or below them.
It turns out if Fox touches them, he will cancel his swim, grab them, and can pull himself up to the nearest surface
I have not tested if this works with void walking yet
(Hacks used to get the right water height)
I forgot if this was posted before. You can save/quit warp to do CC early a different way, but I think it's like 20s slower
I found an RTA viable Garunde cutscene skip, but it fails to set the "DIM unlocked" flag, so it softlocks.
By feeding tricky after the bar fills (this is a large window, easy to do), and then mashing X while holding forward next to the load trigger, you can unload Garunde.
IDEA / CONCEPT - It may be possible to do K4 early on single file if we can find a way to keep Garunde Te event from completing, and enter the K4 Shrine (via mem-leak/glitch-loading the door)
Solved Pieces:
- Enter the K4 shrine early (via glitch loading)
- Escape Garunde before the event completes (this is easy, just run away while Tricky solves it)
- Enter K4 without Flame (This can be done via the Dark/BvqR K4E concept, but mixing it with Garunde will be hard)
Unsolved Pieces:
- Find a way to enter K4 Garunde Event from completing. This may be possible if you load Garunde, but keep moving the camera OOB (in under 3s)
Using mammoth #1 clip, it is possible to hit this save trigger through a wall and collect the 3rd bridge cog early.
However, this is a soft-lock because Fox cannot escape from behind the wooden door.
I revisited that Ice Block skip glitch in DIM, it looks like it might actually be possible.
Sadly this is ~10s slower than just pushing the block
A ~37 second timer starts after starting the fire (which ticks down during the cutscene too). After the timer is done, the water remains lowered after save/quitting or dying (setting 803A3FA3 in v1.0 from 12 to 140)
The first death resets the timer. The 2nd death (save/quit also works) warps you back to the start, and the water will be raised as long as the timer never ticked down.
Any% time save! Discovered by LobsterZelda (in fact, even BvqR did it in his TAS), I just figured out the root cause.
By zooming twice after entering the OFPT exterior map, the password for the electric puzzle gets set to 1 2 3
This password will stay as 1 2 3 for OFPT 1 and OFPT 2 in the BMC route.
Also, the password is set to 1 2 3 when warping to the Interior map, so in Any% BMC, the password was already 1 2 3 for OFPT 2.
(Discovered by Rena)
Items given by NPCs exist below the map usually, and these can be grabbed. However, you need to be able to stand.
So currently there is no known way to pick up these items. It wouldn't save time anyways I think.
If you can get passed the electric grid (maybe with ESW techniques), you can get electrocuted while using the cheat token well
Also, there is a small gap where you can avoid setting a flag, but I don't know what the flag is used for
Minor trigger issues
The ESW trigger and save triggers in CRF intersect, so going left/right changes whether or not ESW trigger gets set:
Hugging the right wall hits the save trigger later than normal, causing Fox to lose Tricky abilities after save/quit/reload:
Using Rena's tool, I found that you can save warp passed the IM cutscene trigger, but it does not appear to help
Note: The save trigger disappears in IM Act 2 (so after rescuing Tricky, it's gone)
