Not 100% positive but i think that what we settled on March 1st as a date to do the cuts stream.

As long as you stick to the total number of games and category limits you can do multiple submissions.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking as well.

Figure it as 1 day set up, 5 days of marathon, 1 day bonus/teardown.

Edit: this has the added bonus for tech that if we have the space Sunday through Saturday the staff and any volunteers have that first Saturday for travel. That means no more first day of staff that is basically zombies trying to set up and run the event.

For a proper setup and test run we need a day.

We are looking at fundraising with t-shirts and online events geurge, if you have any ideas hit me or someone else on staff up. We can always use fresh opinions.

I would like to clarify something.

"feedback should be liseting to the complains and taking notes, Not responding to them and try to defend X thing you did"

This is silly. We want feedback to help us identify issues and we will be responding to things people say to explain why something happened and what caused us to make decisions. This is not us deflecting or making excuses we take feedback seriously when we discuss future events. Everything runners say in this thread will have an impact for both teams on how things are done in the future.

That being said we want transparency so we are going to respond with explanations.

Secondarily please don't make this into a hate thread. Most of the staff are fairly new to this and this is a learning experience for us. Please try to stay constructive with your criticism because alot of people put in alot of effort to make this event for the speedrunning community and all want to improve.

Thanks so much for helping nasa and no reset out on the first north American dreamhack speedrunning event. Now Let's work together to try and make the next one better!

Haven't written up my feedback yet however as far as dk64 I can tell you as nasa staff off site when I saw what was happening with the schedule I asked how it was going to be fixed. I talked to aries and Joel and from the get go they told me that they were going to ask for a shorter category not ask to cancel the run, so unless there was a miscommunication with me, that seems over exaggerated. I can also tell you that I have it from multiple people that when they did that they were not informed by the no reset staff member who had talked to max that he had told us we could run over on time. Essentially it's a shame the dk64 got cut short and all of the nasa crew on site and off regrets that it had to happen over a series of miscommunications.

As far as the tech delays go unfortunately a member of no reset told the nasa staff that tech was covered and we didn't need to worry and then on July 3rd (5 weeks before the event) we were told that wasn't the case. Which as you saw drastically impacted the knowledge level some of staff had with our new gear. We will do our best to ensure we never let ourselves get held up on planning like that in the future, and get our core staff more time to learn to avoid messing with runs and runners plans.

I'll have alot more coming later tonight.

It will certainly not be chicago this year. However that doesn't rule out other cities for 2018 , just depends what we hear from atendees.

One thing to keep in mind is that a large portion of atendees seemed to be east coast based, and in addition every staff member except naegleria lives on the east coast. That makes it hard for us to transport equipment if we stray too far west. It also drastically increases the staffs out of pocket expenses for the marathon the further west we go. It's important to keep in mind that our staff is unpaid and uses their own money to make nasa a reality. Getting a passport and a plane ticket to Toronto isnt that bad when you consider that I made a 16 hour drive for nasa 2016 with equipment.

Don't take this to mean that nasa will never be further west again just that we need to see real interest in that happening from atendees to make it worth it for us to spend the extra money on gas and hotels to transport the equipment. It is much easier for atendees to get a plane ticket and passport than for us to drive cross country.

As it stands enough people expressed interest in Toronto this time around rather than staying in chicago and Toronto also makes our lives easier so it is a no brainer to try it out.

Hey guys, a bunch of us were discussing doing a meet up for the northeast out of someone's basement in august or september. This would be a small event, most likely only 10-15 people. Currently the main thing we would need to make this happen is someone in the northeast who could host us. I would probably be able to host but that wouldn't be ideal seeing as I am in Maryland and most of those interested are in the NY area. If anyone is down to host please let me know so I can start coordinating things. Also if you are just interested in attending let me know.

I'll be making a video talking about my thoughts on this and next NASA later today from the perspective of staff, tech, and atendee. In the meantime I just want to give a shout out to lurk, dark aries, thosecrazyguys, lanaryu, tterraj42, jymotion, and anyone else who helped with tech. Once we figured out everyone's strengths and got the equipment working properly our setup times were great.

I will go in depth into what we should change and such for the next event in the video Ill post later.

I'll be bringing betrayal at the house on the hill in addition to my commander decks. I would also be down to take part in a draft.
