It's good to know the percentages. I'll probably aim for 14 once I have more completed runs.

Getting a bit frustrated with the Viridian Forest split, I ran a few calcs in the Psypoke calculator and came up with these figures:

13 Spc @ Level 6 = 2-9 DVs 14 Spc @ Level 6 = 10-15 DVs

15 Spc @ Level 7 = 7-13 DVs 16 Spc @ Level 7 = 14-15 DVs

16 Spc @ Level 8 = 4-9 DVs

Wouldn't this make 13 Special far superior? If you don't get 16 at level 8, the only possible DVs are 2 and 3, two out of eight possible values, while if you get 14 at level 6 and only level up once, the run is lost if you had 10, 11, 12, or 13, four out of six possible values. It seems like it may be best to reset at 14, unless you plan on something like resetting on one encounter and doing Deathfly. We could also calculate Bulbasaur's DVs at level 6 to narrow the spreads a bit further (like Red Helper does for Nidoking), but we'd probably need a new program for that. Thoughts?

Okay. Thanks for answering. I guess I'll just keep at it and see what I find out.

Hello, everyone. As of last night I've started learning the route for this game. This is my first post on this site, but seeing as I've spent a good few hours experimenting with this I feel my question is warranted: How EXACTLY does FrogExp need to be executed? I have states saved before entering the train and on the last line of dialogue with Neville. I figured out the "make or break point" (at least for me) is right after exiting the conversation with Neville. After that, I go up to the middle of the window, and then down and left while mashing A.

It seems like there's a specific spot in the left seat you have to hit "A" at in order to get your sprite to flash (this is usually accompanied by the door sound, but you only seem to need the flash in order to get the Frog of Doom to appear instead of the troll; I've sometimes had the Frog appear with the flash but without the door sound).

Most of the time, I can't get this movement right (about 9/10 times), which isn't too promising considering it would take about 10 minutes per attempt in a run (8 at WR pace). I can't figure out what causes the all-important sprite flash, and was wondering if the experienced players here might be able to help me out. Thanks!

(If it's of any significance, upon entering the train I go right to the Folio Triplicus and get the levelup, then very slowly hit A until the sprites go black and then 3 more times, for 5-6 total. I then walk up to Neville and make sure his dialogue box pops up before any others, still making sure there's plenty of space between each A press. The last line of his dialogue after doing all this is where my second state is saved.)
