There's that, and I don't think financial barriers should prevent a game with a community this small from growing. Why shouldn't emulated runs count? It plays literally the exact same. If the run is legit, who cares what platform it's on? Somebody having to buy a capture card, adapters, and a good enough computer setup is fair for a game that's either: hugely popular, like Mario 64, or newer, as capturing newer games is way easier, cheaper, and smoother. That, and there's the issue of people eventually having a hard time even finding physical copies. If some 13 year old kid wants to run TS2, but doesn't have access to a credit card, she'll literally never be able to, because it's never sold in pawn shops. I've never once seen it in the real world since it was released. Please consider that not just us bitter old 30 year olds might enjoy running this and being competitive.

IGT typically only works if the game itself has an in game timer. Otherwise, an absurd amount of busy work is going into meticulously timing a 30+ minute run. If a person is a frame off counting each map of book 1, we're talking a full second or 2 of deviation and that's clearly not an option. No auto battle is so much more doable but yeah the mods take a very long time to change categories. I proposed race to 40 almost a year ago.

What about people that want to do a bit of both? Don't forget that auto battle AI occasionally makes the least optimal move and costs you massive time. I get what you're saying for main story and I fully support it. That said, we're speedrunning a mobile game, one that is almost entirely dependent on connection speed in some cases, and one that, with each passing update, is completely different. My 28 minute main story run is very good for example. I played it well, and I waited hours to get a quick Ike summon. People want to remove load times now which is legit, but on the other hand, I consider it pretty shitty that anybody who plays now has access to better units and much more easily than I did 8 months ago. Long story short, we're speedrunning a game people shouldn't speedrun. Nothing about this is "legit."

If you just mean proposing a no auto battle category for each category, I'm totally in support. Unfortunately I'm not totally sure what the mod situation is right now. I've asked for mod quite a few times as I've been by far the most active runner for the last year, but no luck.

I get what you're saying Solareon, but I can't stress enough how big of a deal and how much planning and actual hours goes into a race to X run. And given recent updates, in which we can no longer exit a map to forfeit gained exp and levels, we have one shot. My race to 40 5:58 took days to prepare for just one attempt.

Fully in support. My 28 minute main story is unbeatable without an absurd connection, which I don't believe should be a barrier to somebody getting competitive times. I propose timing starts on selecting "fight" on prologue 1. I think players should be able to change all their settings prior to RTA start.

Good question. I personally don't mind the idea. The only issue I see is that we could see an even smaller pool of viable units for these categories. My boy Xander would just be useless compared to other characters.

Agreed on all points, except making the best teams and pressing buttons quickly are the case for all runs, auto battle or no. Download time needs to change because until a recent update, my main story time was basically unbeatable by someone with a bad connection. The issue though is that all loads are dictated by connection to a degree, so it's extremely hard to tell how much load time removal is too much. If I do a 1 hour run, and have to load 60 maps in that time, and each time is .25 seconds longer than another runner, it's unnoticeable, but at the end of the run, that's a 15 second difference.

Right so to specify I was thinking Ironman specifically as a new file category, in which full story, stratums, and a level 40 character are done.

Race to 40, New Game race to 40, Intermission, New Game intermission, and my personal baby: Ironman %, in which you start a new file, complete up to intermission, get a character to 40, and clear the stratums.

Would like that as a bit of a longer category.

Would also be nice to do something up to paralogues.

Start immediately on completion of the second large update IMO. People (myself not included) with bad connections need to not lose up to 2 minutes of time from a run. It should start from first action following the update.

ALSO, I feel we need to do some sort of load removal for Main Story, as my update download was 120MB larger than in past runs, slowing it down considerably.

Same as new game+ and new game race to 20, just to max level. With Race to 20 being so low it might be cool to see if we can do something insane like 1 to 40 in like 20 minutes!
