Please feel free to discuss possibly routing options and tactics that could be useful for improvements towards runs.
I will organize useful information into a guide I have been working on to be used in general for those that wish to do runs with information pertaining to the game as it unfolds.
Much is yet to be found and or confirmed as there is very little information about the game available else where.
There is a WIP guide in the "Guides" section that is not and most likely not ever be 100% coverage but will detail out what is important for knowing the game and more specifically for speedruns.
ARPGME is an Online Marathon for action rpgs in which the goal is to promote and showcase the games, and communities around them.
We highly recommend new games or categories be submitted as well.
More information about the marathon can be found here: https://nasamarathon.com/arpgme/
Looking forward to the submissions and the event.
So proud to announce that the NASA Marathon schedule is up. Both NieR (2010) and NieR: Automata will be played at the event during the NieR Block. I will be running NG+ for NieR, and Any% Story for Onechanbara Z2: Chaos. Trineas will be running NieR: Automata at the event as well.
I was asked about doing the 4 hour + Any% run for NieR (2010), and got Automata in instead, Trineas will be running it instead of me. It will be interesting since at the event he will be doing the PS4 version that I'm bringing up with me. If we can somehow manage to get a second system besides mine at the event, there is a slight chance that It could end up becoming a Race between us.
Anyways Super excited about that happening, Trineas was not even suppose to run nor was it actually submitted so that's great. You can see the Full schedule at the website link below; https://nasamarathon.com/schedule/

As the title says the purpose of this thread will be to " List any tricks, skips and or Glitches. "
When adding to this thread please put in details of the TSG (Specifics to it such as where and how to do it.) and include a Vod if one is available. You must also state the latest patch and platform(s) it was used in if known and please try to credit the people responsible for it properly as well.
Ideally the videos should be clean 1 shot examples with no commentary unless necessary, provide the additional information as a description with the post as it would be more useful in most cases.
The Main Idea for this is having it all available in one place and it would be good to have it here on our boards for easy access to new and current runners. This thread will be used to gather and compile a Master Guide later on.
So this very nice Resource site was created by Dworim , It has allot of the current and past resources compiled nicely into one place and has been keeping it up to date as he can, currently its on a testing host but if it proves useful for the community and others for the game it may become a more permanent thing.
http://www.elisanet.fi/dwr/yorharuns/index.html new version 17/5/17 -dworim
So if the title of the thread is not obvious here is where we can talk more about the categories and anything pertaining to them going forward more officially.
I do not currently know much about the actual game besides rough mechanics and common knowledge but as I go through it it will be easier to set things up for sure with you guys in the community. Wanted to keep my personal experience for the game intact as much as possible, Sure you all understand and thank you for your patience.
I would like to just say I'm very happy with the number of submissions in the last almost 2 weeks at the time of writing this. I would like to just clarify somethings tho about when we submit runs to be verified;
Please allow at least 2 to 7 days for submissions, I tend to wait a few days to go over the runs a few at a time since I do re-time runs and like to talk with the person(s) about their submission(s) and to make sure everything is good.
Another reason for me wanting to do it a few times a few rather then each day is because I do have a real job that pays for everything I do, I hope that we can all respect that we have lives outside speedrunning games.
One last note is that I will try and continue to do a sorta weekly or biweekly update on runs that were submitted so that we all can see them and talk about the most current runs being done, I think it's fun and lets us see what we have been working hard on.
As an additional Side note, If and when we gain more runners and more submissions come in either for the Demo or the full game going forward More moderators will be added as necessary please do not ever feel like I'm not paying attention I read the Discord frequently and if I do miss something feel free to let me know myself and you all are only human and not an android. <3
Have Fun speedrunning the demo and eventually the full game.
~ MASH
As a speedrun community we have grown since the games launch and we now have our own Discord for SPEEDRUN related ONLY discussions etc. The previous community is still a great place for general chat for the game and other things, but the new Discord will serve as our own hub for our speed related activities.
Join the Speedrun.com Discord here; https://discord.gg/TzAt9zf
Nier Automata's leaderboards should now be setup for the basics for those who have been running the game the past week you can submit your runs to the corresponding difficulty category. If you have suggestions please let me know, Some of you guys and gals have been putting more time into practice then I have so you may have more insight I may not have found out myself or from others.
Looking forward to getting my blackbox around March for the release of the full game, I hope everyone that has not played the previous title and has a ps3 or 360 maybe gets around to playing it. <3
Let's have a Happy NieR YeaR!
This threads primary goal will be to provide more detailed help and information on any of the Categories or Individual level runs, and also discuss any rules or possible changes or additions to them or even old or new Categories or IL's.
This First post will track and be updated as frequently as possible for all current and possible future runners of the game as time goes on.
A guide for the game will be written up later on once more of the games potentials have been explored as it is still very new.
If you have something to discuss about the boards please do post about it here.
Currently IL's are not available as I am working out how to best present them since there are Individual selected story mode chapters as well as Bonus missions which are track-able via clear time at the results screen at end.
RTA(Real Time Attack) will be the default requirement for full game runs(Story Mode), as the individual chapters only track there own clear times. Check the rules for those categories for more information.
IGT(In Game Time) will be the default requirement for individual chapters or missions, as they track there own clear times, tho the in game timer may not be as reliant so this may change.
V Rank(100%) is the best possible rating you can get for each fight and finial overall clear rating for missions or chapters. The ideal goal for this rating is to exceed the S rank scores that are shown for each fight, Since the game is primarily a score attack game, these can provide some challenges when added to speed running the game to obtain. Under Misc categories you will see any of the V Rank alternatives if any due to the nature of them. Please be aware that if you skip fights or do not combo well your rating will become very poor very fast, and for V Rank runs that will be cause for Reset.
So I've been playing around here and there in Raid mode still because I always find it fun to come back to it and do some runs even just for an hr or so, But I'd like to start doing Medal % runs with a Partner on PS4 at some point.
If your interested in doing this let me know. You do not have to be using a max lvl character to start. Medal % criteria:
- complete the a full gauntlet on selected difficulty at the recommended lvl or below. (all stages/missions)
- Do not use Heals and revive crystals.
- Kill all enemies and complete the stages as fast as possible.
In order to get the 5th and finial medal for a stage you need to get the other 4, besides the 3 above ones I described the one you always get is the finish medal or w/e its called. You need the previous 4 to get the final medal.
Contact me on twitter preferred, and we can look at setting up some time to practice and try coop runs. We can also try for any % as well at some point.
I work 5 days a week, Thursday to Mondays normally. ( from 4pm till as late as 2am EST most days) I can set aside time after work or on my days off for this provided people are also serious about having fun and trying for some times on raid runs.
Anyways let me know. ~ M A S H
