Yeah RTA isn't really important, aside from helping validity and some accuracy. But thankfully the IGT does work fine. I think it's worth keeping RTA as a sub timing method for now atleast, just incase the IGT is changed or something in the future. There have been games that change their IGT and that makes past runs obsolete/inaccurate. I don't think that will happen with this game, but doesn't hurt to wait it out for a bit. However, we could make it so it's not necessary to submit RTA, but if you would like to, then go ahead! Probably would be good for the Full game categories, which I will do some testing with when I can and drop a resource to make things easier.
it's perfectly fine, RTA timer is just for reference and to help validity of runs. (not really important for a timing method) nice run!
If you click the IGT on the leaderboard/character you're looking at, it will automatically filter the runs with the IGT. That is immensely easier than building a spreadsheet to calculate almost 6 years worth of runs. Unless you would like to do that. The timing method has never been at the full front of the issues within runners/community. It's not perfect, but it is the best way to ensure accessibility and lively hood of the game. I've run all the smash games and other games of the same genre and this is almost always the right way to go about it. Especially with some games, the IGT isn't always perfectly accurate/is flawed. (ie ssb, nasb 1 & 2) Not everyone who is going to submit runs is going to want to calculate their IGT, especially if they are running more of the hundreds of categories that exist in this game. It's not laziness nor "unjustified" when we've put in a lot of work not just moderating the game, but playing it. Especially when the thing you want is just one click away.
are there any note worthy ones to learn for the run
is there a list of tricks/glitches that are used in Any%?
with the recent patch, the one that added in hugh neutron, gave aang a bug on console; where his down special will instantly KO in one hit. This from what i've seen is affected in all game modes.
This will be banned from runs on the boards as it will likely be patched out at some point (hopefully soon) as it's absolutely not intended. But feel free to get your very own free sub 1 min screenshot for bragging rights lol
again this is only on console and not on PC from what i've seen. Personally, i saw it on switch. If this is something you think SHOULD be allowed then feel free to leave your reasoning here if you want. :p Will probably lock in a couple of days
this run also has WRs for Patrick's VH, H, M, & E ILs lol
if so which ones/versions are allowed?
dude i always knew there was something sketchy about the damn subway ending LOL makes sense why i can never reach my gold split on it
thats happened quite a few times iirc where runners have had perfect master hands with Kirby for example. where you 1 cycle with up tilt
that alone doesnt need to make it a category, the topic of individual levels was brought up but just doesnt seem like the most viable thing to be made for an official category. along side not being able to completely grind a stage legitimately without resetting and starting over at the start just to get to metal mario for example.
I would be interested in running these if they became a category! a cool addition to them could be All Scenarios or All Light or All Dark Scenarios as well.
The first runs I did of 9.9 when it first made to leaderboards were done in that way. Mainly because I just wanted to do every characters run without a death. But after more runs and finding that starting at a difficulty lower than 5.0 can save over 30 seconds of time, there is no reason to start at 5.0. While the run still follows the same format and rules. Nothing about the run really changes except the difficulty on the first few stages. Which is changed to making the end of the run much more intense because the small mistakes or time it takes to beat a stage may result in under a 9.9 run.
Making a separate category just for the final stage to be on 9.9 is arbitrary and changes hardly anything, other than about 15 seconds of doing weaker damage to the Boss.
