Autohotkey is now allowed to be used in runs, provided it is only to rebind controls (one to one keypress rebinding). Macros, scripts that allow for more than one input per keypress, and scripts which otherwise modify the game or allow for unintended behaviour are prohibited.
You can find an autohotkey script created by Avethis in the Tools section of the Fable TLC leaderboards.
Hello! Requesting to become a super moderator for Fable: Anniversary https://www.speedrun.com/anniversary - the super moderator @giantsteps92 hasn't signed on in 2 years and no longer remembers his srcom details.
I can provide proof of him confirming he's happy to pass permissions over if required, as right now it's not allowed us to add any more moderators causing a delay in verifications. I currently moderate the Fable series and am supermod for Fable TLC/Xbox/III, let me know if anything else is needed!
This is a tutorial on how to get Fable: The Lost Chapters to run in a window. This works for any PC version of the game, including retail and Steam versions.
- Download DxWnd ( https://sourceforge.net/projects/dxwnd ) and extract its contents into a folder of your choice using either 7-Zip on WinRAR. Alternatively, download the file from the resources section ( https://www.speedrun.com/fabletlc/resources )
- Once extracted, run the DxWnd.exe file, and right click anywhere on the blank area, then select Add.
- In the new window, the name doesn’t matter too much, just call it Fable or something so you know what it is from an icon.
- For both path and launch, click the three dots besides the text box and point to fable.exe, which should be in the base Fable folder wherever you installed it (e.g. if you used Steam, it will be INSTALL\steam\steamapps\common\Fable The Lost Chapters\Fable.exe). It is the same for both, so locate the file for one, then copy and paste the same thing into the other.
- Under Position, you can use the X and Y coordinates to set the location of the window on the monitor. You should also set the resolution to whatever you have set it to in the in-game options for Fable. (e.g. if you play Fable in 1080P, set the W to 1920 and the H to 1080) Note: whatever resolution you set the game to, the main menu will be at 1024x768, which can cause some distortion if you have not set the W and H to 1024x768; this will fix itself once in-game.
- OPTIONAL: If you would like to run in a borderless window, under Video change the ‘window style’ from ‘default’ to ‘modal’.
- Under the Input tab at the top, change ‘Window size & position’ from ‘Autom.’ to ‘Hide’, and under Cursor Handling, tick ‘Keep cursor within window’ and ‘Keep cursor fixed’.
- Once done, click OK, go to File, then Save. A window will appear saying ‘Task list has changed. Do you want to save it?’. Click Yes, and you are done! To run the game in a window from here, simply double click the icon in DxWnd to launch the game.
Hey! The game is on Steam, sadly it's not free. You can buy it here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/288470/Fable_Anniversary/
Also, the Discord invite link is here, it covers all versions of the first version of Fable :) https://discord.gg/agBHM93
Try again now, DMs were disabled on my account haha, sorry!
Hello!
What map did you dig out of? My DMs are open @Etem_T, do you mind sending me some pictures, I believe this is a known glitch which takes you to Filler Maps (my personal favourite one is digging out of Hook Coast to a placeholder version of an unused map called Dragon Cliff), but also would like to see it to make sure, who knows, it could be useful! :D
The Fable Discord is the best place to ask questions, contact a leaderboard moderator, or just hang out - anyone with even a remote interest in the game is welcome! :) https://discord.gg/agBHM93
Feel free to DM me on Discord or Twitter if you have any questions or issues with it.
No problem, I've just added a link to the Resources page to download the French language pack, the instructions are all in there :) good luck!
Hey there, is this the Steam version of TLC, or is it a retail copy? If you're using the Steam version, you can change it from the language section on the game properties. If you're using the retail version, I'll put the French version on the Resources :)
Hey, can I get my name changed from Etem_T to Etem?
Thanks!
A few updates from my end -
Fable: The Lost Chapters any% - Very good progress made, I kept good on my promise and got a new PB yesterday, 1:26:24, saving 1 minute and 9 seconds over my old run, just narrowly missing 2nd Place by about 15 seconds.
Link -
I've been doing no-reset runs on stream, and have been doing fortnight races with other members of the Fable speedrunning community, with all of the races and no-reset runs being under estimate by a comfortable amount, and I'll have backup saves on hand for segments just in case.
I should be available to do my run on any day of the marathon, but if possible, I'd like to avoid doing it late night/very early morning :)
Practise for Fable: The Lost Chapters any% has been going well, in addition to a new loadtime remover and autosplitter, over the past month there's been new strats which improve consistency by a whole bunch.
My PB is currently around 4-5 mins faster than the estimate, which is more than enough time for anything the game wants to throw at me. I've got an array of backup strats, and double backup strats, though the run is already very safe and marathon friendly to do. 2 of the few areas that have issues now have a safety strat that is makes them almost impossible to go wrong.
Sadly no new PB's due to work taking up a lot of time, but the run has already been cut down by quite a bit in the past, and I am certain I will come out under estimate in my run even under worst case scenario.
Game Name: Fable: The Lost Chapters
System: PC
Category: Any%
Gameplay Estimate: 1h 35m Ending/Bonus Estimate: 5 minutes
Possible Donation Incentives: Changing Character's In Game Name from "Chicken Chaser" to "Arseface", Filename (10 char), English (better dialogue and voices) vs French (40s faster)
Sample Run Video (old PB video, no commentary):
Description: A classic RPG that's turned into a technical and interesting high skill, low RNG run that has been my main speedgame for over 2 years. This run contains very interesting movement mechanics, becoming more and more varied as the run progresses. We also abuse the in game economy, combo meter, exp, then later the combat, as well as perfom clips that allow us to skip the majority of 2 quests, and exploit basically every other mechanic in the game for the sake of speed.
Availability: Saturday the 30th from 9AM - 8PM GMT, maybe Sunday 31st 9AM - 8PM GMT
Got another PB for Fable, 1:31:30, cutting my time by another 30s on a decent-ish run! http://www.twitch.tv/etem_t/c/6693124 a bunch of new faster and more consistent strats have been found, leaving almost zero points that can kill the run!
