I've spent some time looking at emulator runs as well as trying the game on Dolphin emulator. Playing on emulator allows players to use a keyboard as their peripheral instead of a controller, but no one has done that for a run. (NootAndShoot's GBA ver run is inconclusive.)
What opinions do the community have on using keyboard in the case of playing on emulator? Should it stay as default and be allowed, or should using keyboard be restricted or banned?
I've been looking at the loading time for stages in each home console release, and have found some estimated ranges for loading times. These times I've measured from the player pressing A to the loading screen cutting to black.
Xbox: 21 seconds (character intro cannot be skipped)
Additionally, PS2 can take an additional 1~2 seconds for the elevator screen to load over Xbox and GCN.
It's worth discussing what action should be taken to accommodate for runs on other consoles, since the only accepted runs as of far have been for GCN.
This top post will detail ruling changes on Egg Mania as they are set in place, featuring timestamps for days that changes are enacted. The post will be updated over time as changes are made.
[Dec 7, 2021] Separation of GBA from other consoles, creation of "Over Easy [GBA]" and "Hard Boiled Hard [GBA]" categories
I looked at the current categories in this game, and I noticed two overlaps in gameplay:
-"Hard Boiled Hard" is played as a part of "All Character Unlocks" because it's how you unlock Yolkohama. -"Bomb Mode" allows any difficulty setting, but completing it on Medium or Hard also unlocks characters. (Sir Eggolot and Poncho)
We have two speedrun categories which can help in practicing a run of ACU. This makes me wonder: Could we have a category based on reaching 1 million points in Solo as fast as possible? This is also the requirement for unlocking Angelica.
I'm a long time fan of I-Ninja since I was young, looking to have a better opportunity to replay the game and try speedrunning. I have been able to get a copy for Windows and have it installed properly, but I am having some troubles:
-
Because my computer uses Windows 10, it obviously isn't perfectly compatible since the game is intended for performance on Windows 98 through XP. I'm sure there's a simple answer, but I want to ask if there's a way to improve compatibility to have the game work optimally.
-
There are also issues coming from the star-force copy protection, since the game refuses to "complete installation" because of what I'm guessing is a false flag from the copy protection. The window that the program is stuck on whenever I open it is this: I'm wondering if there's any way to solve this or if I'd need an entirely new copy. (The latter of which I really don't want to do because I've already had to hunt down one copy of the game for PC.)
If there's any assistance that the runners on PC can provide, it'd be greatly appreciated. I'm also hoping I can hear something from iexrrr, since he's not only a runner for PC but also a moderator of the game's speedrun side.
