Hmmm. Okay, how fast are you mashing? Like really fast? It might be that you're doing the frame, off-frame, frame level that's described in the TAS. On that note, after some practice, quite a few of the TAS strats are viable RTA, so I'll be doing a run with those soon. Amusingly, I thought I had discovered the glitches I employed, only to find out the TAS had already discovered them a year earlier :(

I can't seem to get into a position that has me fall down the way I see you do in the video. Do you have a setup, like 1 sword slash or, jump at 'x' pixel?

BootlegPickle6 years ago

Hey,

I was wondering if there was a setup for the clip in The Desert and if you could go through what you have to do to get it.

I didn't find anything that was better, I was just going off the wiki, I'm not saying they should be separate categories, just a flag. I have the original mapper, I don't use everdrive. The version you have works on everdrive because it is hacked to have a simpler mapper. The only differences that I have observed, are that the color palette is different and there is no lava wave in the original.

Hey guys,

just wanted to chime in and say this game has two different versions with different mappers, and apparently the newer version has content removed.

Rayquaza911's run is with the updated mapper and palette , called "Super Aladdin" and the image on the game's display is of the first version, simply "Aladdin". I doubt there's any real difference in the run, as in my casual playthrough it seemed pretty similar to Ray's run, but the wiki states

"At least two versions of this game exist, with the first - Aladdin - being most faithfully accurate to the original game, and the other - Super Aladdin - being released on a more simple mapper with an updated palette, parts of the game removed and several pictures taken from Mega Drive version of Prince of Persia." http://bootleggames.wikia.com/wiki/Aladdin_(Super_Game)

So I wasn't sure if you wanted to add a variable to the boards. I know right now it's just Rayquaza911, but I'm thinking of future-proofing here.

Not at the moment, if you pop into my stream I'm live right now, lel

It occurs when I fall off ledges and seemingly randomly, without moving left.

BootlegPickle6 years ago

Trying to learn the run, but not sure how to stop the screen rolling back.

BootlegPickle6 years ago

Nice one! I'm glad you thought my guide that said "I'm not sure how to do it, try to copy my movements" was sufficient! Haha. Do I need to be concerned diego? You gunning for record again? :-P

EnchantressofNumbers also encountered this and I have made a guide with both our videos in it: https://www.speedrun.com/dkc4/guide/28itc

I'm not sure, most runners use a flashcart to use the practice ROM that has all the kinds of things you could want. If you have a flashcart I recommend you get that. If you don't, then sorry I can't help.

I present to you: screenwrap glitch

No idea how I did it.

Your post struck some science into me Rayquaza911, so I hopped back into the lab and did some more testing.

I still can't quite get a setup for the one with the blue pot BUT using your setup I was able to observe that the requirement ISN'T jumping on the enemy.

I've done this about 5 times now, but if you do your setup but jump at the "wrong time" you can get hit by the pot and get into a ledge climbing state. Climbing from that state puts you in airwalk mode.

This suggests that my earlier hypothesis about floating platforms may have some credence. The other things that point to their dependency is that you can no longer interact with them when in the state and despawning the platform and moving back onto the screen that has it makes you lose the glitch.

I have a feeling that we need to have a platform spawn at the same time as another sprite to get the glitch.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I'll combine all those attempts into a video and upload it, but not now, as it's bed time for me.

Thanks Rayquaza911, if you can work out a setup for the other instance I detailed in the thread then we can probably save another second on the run. Furthermore, both X.White and I have observed the airwalk glitch off of enemies on other levels. We still don't know how it works. If we did, then we could do it at even more locations.

Maybe I'm just cheese brained but I thought I remember there being some kind of RC car clip to speed up the RC stage or am I misremembering and it's SNES or something?

BootlegPickle6 years ago

My suggestions are to avoid crates, jumping on enemies, and to hold run while rolling to keep momentum. I don't know any positive glitches, just that you get killed if you hit two enemies at once. Rattly can jump after falling off a cliff.

Hello everyone, welcome to the Super Donkey Kong 2 (NES) demake speedrun page.

Feel free to say hello and post any tips/glitches you have, and any suggestions you have.

Cheers, Jesse

Any super mod can edit the times on the leaderboard, probably regular mods too.

Well, the point wasn't to complete the game with nothing, just to become a washing machine without getting anything unnecessary and then complete as much of the game as possible as it. I understand that I would de-transform at furnace fun.

Are there no lag strats like those used to get into TTC early? I don't mind if they're slow, the point isn't to go fast, it's to be the best appliance I can be.

In the end, notes aren't that bad, I just need to make sure I don't get any more than 50.

BootlegPickle6 years ago

Provocative title, I know.

Essentially, as a bit of a laugh, I thought it'd be great to do a any% washing machine run, but I require some help.

To unlock the washing machine requires BK to get to Treasure Trove Cove, unlock the sandcastle and take its requisite jiggy. Once this is done, completing Bottles' jigsaw mini-games will unlock the washing machine code wishywashybanjo which can then be entered at TTC.

Other than that, there appear to be no dependencies.

Ideally, what I'd like to do is get the absolute minimum amount of items as Bear and Bird. The thing limiting me right now is the note door after Mumbo's Mountain, as you can clip into TTC.
