The idea of gatekeeping runners like this in any game is a terrible idea that should not be done ever. Speedrunning should be a welcome experience for everyone, not a select few. This decision will only prevent community growth, and may cause people that maybe interested in learning at their pace have second thoughts. I hope you seriously think about this decision and hopefully you change your mind on this. But this will only make this community worse if you do this.
Hey so I had a question in terms of All minigames and it's categories. Why is it just Master Difficulty and then Any difficulty instead of dividing the categories like All Boards is with Easy, Normal, and Hard along with Master?
okay later mah dude. Don't let the door hit you on your way out.
So I saw that my activity as a leaderboard mod has been put into question and people are proposing to remove me from the position. Although I've been saying all that I can to convince you guys to let me stay, apparently I don't care enough for this community. So I would like to issue a proposal if you will. I would like to verify the next 10 runs that are submitted to the leaderboard to try and prove that I can still keep the position, but if I fail to get any of the runs verified within a 24 hour timeframe of when any of the runs are submitted, then I will consider myself not worthy and will step down from being a mod. However if I succeed in verifying them all within the timeframes, then I get to keep my position and there will be no further arguements. Does this sound like a fair compromise? I would like to hear the mods answers to this.
Well then if that's the case I want to have a word with each of the Mods about this and end this, because I refuse to step down.
I've already said my two cents. I have no interest in stepping down and I don't want to hear another word about without a fair warning. That's all.
and yet I was still not notified that I was involved in this conversation? Do you think maybe talking to me and saying "Hey you're being talked about on the forums you should probably say something about it" Didn't cross your mind? To be completely honest, it kind of hurts me that this was brought up and was not specifically told about it. I'm still a part of this community, shouldn't I have gotten a fair warning from someone that I could be demoted? It seems a little going behind my back to me. But whatever, this was never a job to me, and to be honest this shouldn't be a "job". I volunteered to help with this leaderboard ever since it's inception, and just like this community I won't turn my back on it. If you don't think dedication to the game is important and consider this to be a job, then go ahead demote me, but I know where my loyalties lie and that's with the community as a whole.
Maybe it's because they're all taken when I log in? ¤Shrugs¤ But anyway, I was not aware that verifying runs shows more of a commitment to the game then actually doing runs day in and day out for the last 4 years, taking the time to practice and improve. But hey I guess you learn something new every day. If you really want to demod me, you should oh you know, speak with me first?
I don't know who's been mentioning removing me as a mod, but whoever said it they're wrong about my inactivity. I have no interest in stepping down because I am still very much committed to this game.
Any form of Video proof would be much appreciated, if you think it would make this game go much quicker.
Super Mod:
Smoof: He's a well experienced veteran that knows how to keep a level head in situations. He also was the one that taught me how to play the game to it's fullest potential, and in my book he should be recognized for that.
Tozino: He's done it before and I see no reason why he shouldn't have it back. He deserves it.
I've decided not to vote for a 3rd super mod due to not seeing anyone that truly stands out to me without being blatently biased to one specific person. Please do not take this the wrong way.
Regular Mods:
Purpleghostkasper: A truly calming person that deserves to have a shot being mod. I feel that she could do great things to help usher in the new generation of LM runners.
A2Rhombus: A very relaxing person with the knowledge and talent to boot. His knowledge and personality would be a great help to making this community as great as it was in 2014 and 2015. I believe that he would also be a great help with ushering in the new generation of runners.
Okay Nimbus. The only reason why I have been so distant is because I have been incredibly busy with my real life, and that's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more important than speedrunning at the current moment. It's the same reason why I haven't been able to stream either. I still care for this community as much as I did when I first came on the scene almost 4 years ago. I really do want to come back to playing this game, and help the community. But my own life comes first. I should NOT have to drop everything I'm doing to say that.
Regardless of whether you agree with me or not, I still stand by my choice. I am against removing any times without the consent of the runner. It would be unfair to them regardless of what they used. It should be their choice and their choice alone. You should never force someone to do anything if the person does not want to.
This was already discussed, and was ended with a fair compromise. It should be left up to the runner if they want their time removed or not. Getting rid of all the times by force would be unfair to the people that have submitted their times in the past, back when it was still fair. So my vote is to leave it as is.
I find this to be completely silly. I don't think this should warrant a split because you're using another controller for the speedrun.
