I never played around with -seed, so cant really comment on what the better approach is (active/inactive) and where the problems are

I think its an interesting category and fun to explore, however i dont think the "grind to compete" gets solved by that, at least not for long. Once we have figured out the good maps, the grind will simply shift to stuff like "no hsarus from andy? reset." Or if shrines are random, grind out that xp shrine streak...

Basically with map-rng gone, you will now need heavy drop-rng to compete

cool stuff

What might be interesting: A window that just shows one of the items and rotates trough your gear. We could capture that + put it in our streams, that way even Vod-viewers would be able to see our gear "live"

Some people in MrLlamaSC discord are trying to do just that, mainly aimed at figuring out the arcane ( https://discordapp.com/invite/0cdE0TjHEACCSO2L if you want to join them). They have gathered data from like 20k seeds

Problem is there is an insane amount of stuff you can combine with each other, so if you just want to bruteforce check for correlations, you probably have to ask NASA or google if they are willing to borrow you a supercomputer for a few month to get it done.

Then looking at speedrunning, the relations need to be something thats actually useable for us. Lets say something in radament-level would tell you the arcane direction, "just get lucky" would still be the fastest strat.

I dont really see a reason to change it tbh.

Will people go and try to beat the easier time first? Yes. But easier isnt necessary slower. Last time i grinded sorc for example i did it on SC, simply because dying on a good pace to random beetlebolts is really tilting. And beating the easier first doesnt mean they will not attempt the other one.

But does it really matter?

In the end we all run to have fun, if you enjoy the char/category its a good thing being able to run it twice. If you dont want to run it twice, just care about getting the fastest time (or like Ryu, just care about HC, whatever you prefer). Egg likes amazon, so he runs sc zon after crushing HC, you (327) like druid, so you go for all druidtimes, Mojo likes Sin, same for him and indrek on sorc. I think no-one of you keep running these because "you have to", but because "you enjoy to"

And about deathstrats: There is a lot more you could do with them but noone does yet really. Different topic tho

Someone deleted the most run category by mistake and so all old runs had to get added again.

After this the active players will drop back to normal

Would it help if those of us who are willing/still around just resubmit our own stuff? That way you could just ignore our names and shorten the list a bit trough that.

If the obsolete runs are also in your list i probably could cut off 50 runs to check just by myself

The mods will love to add 10000 new categories for all the patches ;)

Personally i think you should have to stick with the patch you start the game with. Because otherwise everytime you reset you would have to reinstall, which is kinda stupid (start version 1.00, gamble that no lvlreq Tarnhelm and patch it up for example... bad run? reinstall)

About running older patches: 1.10-1.14 are pretty much the same, except the better runedrops in the new ones. I dont know a lot about 1.07-1.09, but i`m pretty sure the no-respec alone makes it slower. Probably something to worry about if someone actually comes up with something? Could add a "retropatches"-category if needed

About classic->LoD: I don`t really care either way. Think for P1+pX and all norm runs it will be slower either way, so its only a concern for p8 hellruns (yes i have seen indreks run, but LoD-barb can probably still be 60-90 min faster than it currently is and then i dont see classic competing)

Livesplit is the most commonly used.

With "Edit splits" you can add as much splits and comparisons as you like and with "Edit Layout" you can get them to show up (Splits -> Add column -> select whatever you called your WR column)

at 1) Scepters + flails also both count as Mace weapons, so you get that early Dmg/Attackrating boost.

  1. I like Javs/Throwing Knives for the Den in palaruns (snipe shamans, just throw instead of run after the fallens) For the barb: Lvl2/3 macemastery already gives ~40% Attackratingboost which is quite noticeable. Nothing wrong with using them, keeping enough around to be useful might be a timeinvestment, which is why i usually dont use them (go to charsi -> buy -> back to action is like 20 seconds)

  2. For a barb I`d go for gloves. Leather gloves can roll attack speed if you wait to lvl 17 with imbue. Helm is your easiest slot to get Res (RalRal) or dmg (in case you find +maxdmg jewels, this can add a lot)

For a pala I`d probably go for a scepter to get an additional chance on the +3 hammers

  1. Maybe Right hand hits first? Malice reduces enemy defense by 100 per hit, so if it hits first, it increases the chance for your tal-flail to hit. In the long run it shouldnt matter unless your weapons have different speeds

I recently started to look more into tiles and their rules to speed up my runs. Yesterday, I spent some time in the City and found out some stuff about it. Basically the map is always a 6x8 tileslot grid and the entrances are always at the same points of the grid. By knowing your position on the grid, you should be able to explore the map more efficiently.

Since I don`t know how/if I can add pictures in here, I made a little googledoc to show you my findings: https://docs.google.com/document/d/17sjHBF_NaRf4L9Wz9OI1IuwFiIXlZIVFQtwDN0jN3Jc/edit?usp=sharing
