its literally discord.gg/jacksepticeye
and to clarify, controller is better for the game in v1.0 and v1.1 (i believe the dev is fixing this for v1.2). Keyboard does not have the same acceleration and top speed as controller, regardless if you are using DS4Windows or not (which is allowed anyway)
i disagree with splitting them since the only relevant change to speedrunning is the timer being more specific, and maybe the camera? just enforce people to play on the newest version. Having both just complicates the board more than it needs to be
could just call them "Legacy" or something if its wanted to clarify.
haven't played the game in awhile, but I believe Easy is different than the rest because I believe it skips a few things. Not entirely sure though, could be misremembering. I agree overall though
the idea here is that splits are better than nothing. Considering a ton of runs have no video at all, requiring splits is a step up
multi verification. They would provide video proof of the trick (hopefully with input display or something) and an explanation on how to do it. Leaderboard mod would take this explanation and record themselves doing the trick. If proven successful, the bounty is given out.
as for a bounty for world records, this could also be done, but would have a higher chance of being faked. Its completely possible for a newer runner to get a world record for some games, but newer players are less trusted than the well known ones. And as we have also seen, even well known ones can cheat.
Alternatives to this is to let each game decide the exact requirements to claim the bounty, such as "submitted more than xruns beforehand" "posted on the forum x times before x date"
The idea is cool, and I think it can be implemented, but the leaderboard mods need to be trusted. If you were really worried, you could also set it so that only "verified leaderboards" can do this, and the global mods or something could verify the leaderboard, fully trusting the mods with verifying bounties.
edit: alternatively, you could have a threshold feature, where if it reaches a certain amount of money, a global mod has to verify it. Also if you wanted to test the feature you could set a max bounty and see how it works out
or just use a program called NintendoSpy. I believe most people use this, if they have a display at all.
editing this six years later just in case somebody finds it; you're looking for Project64spy https://www.mediafire.com/file/d1ez10rsg1yycto/Project64Spy.zip
I know I have seen it before, and I think I've seen TheBreadghost do it as well. It only works (from my very non-extensive research) if you go slowly
OH I see what you mean now, I had to go back and look at the leaderboard to see what you meant. Yeah, all medals would be fine, I was thinking you meant to be all sorted into the same leaderboard, my bad
yeah, unlock all games does have that problem, but when breadghost and I made it it was more of a meme compared to all golds, which I actually came up with. Because it is such a meme, I don't think it should be changed to "all games" because its basically the same thing without text boxes that are the reason the category exists.
medals% for a category wouldn't work because of certain levels, like Find Mii, because it depends how many stages you pass, and therefore how long you are in the game. However, making new categories for all bronze/silver/platinum is something that could be cool.
of course, this isn't up to me because I'm not a mod but this is my take on it
I'm very new to this event, having just found it a few moments ago, and I have seen that there is a plan for some time in August, I haven't seen any other activeness other than this forum post. I was just wondering if there were any new updates on this compared to what I have seen, because I am thinking about submitting (as long as I get better). Thanks!
