What is this post about?
Turbo Overkill version 1.0 released 8/11/23, which prompts for some major leaderboard updates. The moderation team has collaborated with the community to better reflect the current state of the game with the addition of new levels, collectibles, bugs, weapons, and much more. This update will also help our moderation team verify or reject runs. We wanted to preserve as many runs on the boards as possible, so we have reviewed each submission under the new rules.
Updates
Ruleset
Out-of-bounds and in-bounds as a ruleset was a great start, but needed to be more defined. All of the out-of-bounds runs have been converted to the new category called unrestricted. Most of the in-bounds runs have been converted to the new category called limited, while the rest were moved to restricted. The major difference between the old ruleset and new ruleset is that it limits not only where you can go, but how you can get there there such as clipping or flying.
Here is the basic idea for the new ruleset:
Episode 3
- Added Vector-4
- Added Teratek Showdown
- Added Final Purge
Small Changes
- Removed the rule "no car hood riding on artifact zero" (has been patched for a while)
- Simplified wording for Any% Rules
- New theme
- Updated Game Release Date to 8/11/23 from 4/22/22
- Archived old ruleset of out-of-bounds and in-bounds
- Added console commands section to Game Rules
- Runs have been updated to reflect accurate category, playthrough, ruleset, and difficulty
- Old runs will still appear on your profile and it will say "orphaned"
The new boards are subject to change as the nature of the speedrun for this game could easily change since the game is still under heavy active development. I don't suspect the game to have any more major changes that would require almost a board rewrite, but we will see.
Episode 2 is now out on steam, which has called for a leaderboards update. Most changes help to better reflect the current state of the game, whether it be to categories or rules.
