Hello fellow Speedrunners, after the high demand, spam on pretty much all my social media places i decided to dump the game in.
The categories and submissions will be available the 15th in order to let people the time to discover, play, enjoy the game then start routing and speedrun it at their will.
If you have any suggestion for the categories please feel free to add a comment, thank you for your patience.
Have fun.
Do you plan to open categories for 2 Players Co-Op? With the online it would be great!
Hopefully we get some 3 and 4 player categories!. I plan on running this with my friends!
I’m so excited!!!!
Hey guys, I'm going to be learning, routing and practising multiple categories for the game (All Characters basically) Any Help or advice just let me know. I'm more than willing to help anyone and everyone out, just give me a heads up. GL on the runs.
I agree with the opinion of the power of retro characters. But for me personally the table is clearly visible: Categories - Every character name (Even Retro like Skate) and Co-op Sub category 1 - Version of the Character (Shiva is only 1, so you can do Shiva% Category :D even for Co-op - he is too OP compared to other Retro's) Sub category 2 - Difficulty (that's classic, i guess) I think that Izumi wanted to do something like that, but I don’t think he would be agree with a lot of categories ¯_(ツ)_/¯
The only thing that interests me is - does it make sense to do History% and Arcade%? It just seems to me that speedruns are relevant only for Arcade. I just noticed that, for example, Anthopants or Pikachu write in the category of the game (splits) "Arcade", which seemed "extra" to me. And another quetion - is there any sense from the "Boss Rush" category?
One more thing - When do you turn on the timer, do a split (stage) and when do you finish the run?
As the other games of the franchise, every main character of the game should have his own category (in arcade mode as the og games) as runs changes a lot depending on the character picked. Arcade is in my opinion the mode that makes the more sense for runs.
Then If people are interested in, maybe an History mode category where you can change the characters mid run, maybe some strategy can be done there. And finally Co-op.
All the difficulties for every category that I just mentioned.
Thats my take on categories, hf everyone.
Will there be a category for activating the secret levels and also just regularly going through them in both arcade and story modes?
I get there’s only 4 so I wont say much on IL’s but im just interested.
Also..., STREETS HYPE!!!
I would like an any% and a 100% for doing the secret levels Also Arcade mode should be a category.
I think the existence of stars in this game also provides a reasonable case for low%--never picking any consumables up off the ground. In past streets of rage games, the optimal any% in theory looks exactly like the optimal low% since getting health just wastes time. But being limited not only by health but also by star specials makes the low% a little more interesting this time around. See for example the low% of Ninja Gaiden 1.
Not begging for it though, I realize that people who played past Streets of Rage games wouldn't necessarily be comfortable with the idea of a low%, so likely no one is even trying to run it yet. It just seemed like an idea.
If you did decide to make this category, it'd be up to you whether weapons can be picked up--but I think it'd be overly cruel to not allow the player to catch weapons thrown at them by enemies, so definitely don't do that one :P
I hope there's a boss rush category! Mostly because I can get it down to 15 minutes and I'm pretty sure the time can still be cut down by at least 2 to 3 minutes aaaa
