The Special Car is identical in appearance (Celica or Delta), but the handling is different, the main difference is that it skids less and leads to faster times than the Standard Car. It can only be selected for Arcade Championship Mode (1 or 3 Laps), it cannot be selected for Practice Mode or Time Attack.

The Special Car also has it's own Leaderboard in the Records screen. You need to use the Special Car at least once for this Leaderboard to unlock.

To select the Special Car do this:

Arcade Cabinet/Model 2 Emu:
Have the car in the neutral gear position, put the coin in, hold brake pedal, highlight your car (but do not select yet), then on the gears select 1st, 2nd, 3rd then 4th, then select the car and let go of brake. (You will hear a "whoosh/zap" confirmation sound if done correctly).

Sega Saturn:
Hold X button and press C to select your car.

PC Version:
Hold X key and press ENTER to select your car.

PlayStation 2:
Press R2, R2, R2, R2 then select your car.

Please state which car you have selected if doing an Arcade Championship run, it will help us categorise it correctly.
