TLDR: You can add characters to your run and times will be calculated using a frame counter, using the frame after Go! at the start and first frame the user loses control of the game.
Changes made to the way runs are timed to ensure accuracy, as previous method was not consistent.
Runners can enter the character they used in their speedrun where this is relevant (completely optional).
Number of grammatical mistakes and spelling errors fixed in category names.
Where is the first frame of the speedrun now?
All runs will start after the frame after either of the Go! messages dissapears (pictured below)
Where is the last frame of the speedun?
Runs will finish on the frame where the number of lines has been completed or the first frame the user loses control of the paddle. Examples of these ending screens are below to help as different game modes have different endings. The first frame one of the following screenshots appear in your run, this will be considered the final frame and used to calculate your time.
Depending on the game mode, the last frame will be different, but they have been chosen as they are clear and obvious to see when using a framecounter.
Examples of the ending screens are included below
-
First frame the Player 1 Win appears on the screen
-
First Frame the GOAL begins to slide on to the screen, which is also the first frame the number of lines is 50/50 (or 100//100 and so on for other difficulties)
-
First Frame the congratulations message appears on the screen.
