I'm not on here as much as I probably should be. I don't review your run within a few days of submission please feel free to DM me on Twitch or Discord to let me know I'm slacking on my SRC queue - I won't mind.
Voxel has released a huge new update for the game - you may have noticed the change-up in the run categories.
Any% now refers to runs using the updated version of the game. Any% Classic is for anybody running the previous version.
The latest update includes:
- Game actually tells you when you win, get to your home!
- Much improved jumping through narrow gaps, no more pixel perfect jumps required
- Fixed buffered jump
- More feedback to show your water meter decreasing, new sound effects and visual bubbles help indicate the bar is depleting, and an alarm begins to sound when the bar reaches critical level
- Longer map! With the improved movement, the old map became a little too simple. The original map has been improved and extended
- Fixed orphaned sprite glitches
- More fair hitbox for dart traps (fires are still extra dangerous though)
- Extra effects for dart traps
- Hidden secret greets screen
- Player bubbleshot now has a maximum lifetime, no more infinite looping bubble softlocks
Not sure what's up with Twitch embeds right now. I've noticed that the videos on SRC seem to skip at times - jumping significant sections of the run and going right to the end.
I've found that clicking through the embed to the Twitch page itself, and watching it there works like a charm.
Pretty sure this isn't just a PEBCAK thing - I've tried a a couple different computers and it does the same on each? Just wanted to give a heads-up if it's happening to anybody else.
The game's developer has released a new version. The only change is the removal of the background music. I think I speak for the community as a whole (because at the time of writing I am the community ?) this is a welcome improvement for anybody that plans on running this game.
The sound loop was cool for the first 5-10 runs, but by 50 I had to turn it down. It will be nice to play with the sounds in tact and the ability to provide my own backing track.
The download link on Itch has been updated to point to the new release: https://voxel.itch.io/nes-fish
Thanks for the update, Voxel!
