How to change controls on PC

Hob's in-game control methods are... lacking. Luckily, there exists a txt file that lets you customize the game's controls extensively. This guide will show how to find it and some general suggestions on what to do.

Your controls should be saved in the same folder as your save files. By default, this should usually be under Documents\MyGames\runicgames\Hob\SAVES, and then in a folder with a string of numbers as its name. There it should be called PLAYER_CONTROLS.txt.

In the file, each action is given its own block of code. Inside each block are strings that determine activation method, other special tags related to the action, and most importantly, inputs. Inputs for an action start at INPUT0, and any further input methods add 1 to that number. So if you had inputs for sprint you would have INPUT0, INPUT1, and INPUT2. After the <STRING>Input(x) is a colon and the desired input to map the action for. The file has a list of possible inputs at the top, so find what input you want and copy/paste it under the desired action.

For example, if I wanted to add a way to sheathe my sword using left trigger, I would navigate to [SHEATHE_SWORD] and add a new line inside that block. That line would be <STRING>INPUT2: and then I would go to the possible inputs, find AXIS_LEFT_TRIGGER, and paste that after the INPUT2:.

Some notable actions:
SHEATHE_SWORD - by default this is the same button as roll. Giving it a separate button can help when performing unsheathe long jumps.
SPRINT - you can change TOGGLES_OFF to TRUE to walk when the button is held instead of sprint when the button is held.
LIGHT_ATTACK - this is the control files' name for sword attacks.
HEAVY_ATTACK - this is the control files' name for punching. HEAVY_CHARGE is specifically for charging a punch, and has ACTIVATION:HOLD to distinguish.
PAUSE - the pause menu
WORLD_MENU - the map screen. Useful for off-camera movement.

Quest System guide

Hob uses an invisible, never-mentioned quests system to track game progress. These are often tied to the markers that appear on the map at various intervals or to things like electricity and pipe connections.

To view these quests, press the ~ (tilde) key on the keyboard to open the console. Then entering Questshowactive will display currently active quests, and Questshowcomplete will display all complete quests.

While there's no current route for an All Quests run, I went ahead and made a spreadhseet showing every known quest and how they are obtained or cleared. currently, the only quest with an unknown clear condition is Walker Discovered2. If you happen to know how to clear it, post it on the discord!
