Runs should appear on the main page by the time they was verified
6 years ago

I'm pretty sure it's important for everyone that your run appears on the site's main page. Especially if you are "small unknown speedrunner", because more people can check your run and maybe follow your channel, etc. But seems like it always takes 1 billion of million years for moderators to move their asses and verify your run. So there is almost no chance to appear on the main page. HOWEVER, when moderators submits their runs they just make them auto-verified. So their runs always appears on the main page. That's so freakin unfair.

It's pretty obvious that runs should appear on the main page by the verification time, not by submission time. (like TASvideos site does)

https://www.speedrun.com/smb1-air For example this romhack have 7!!! moderators. How much time i have to wait to 6-mins run being verify? 1 billion years for 6 min run?

"it always takes 1 billion of million years for moderators to move their asses and verify your run" Moderators are volunteers that have lives outside the website. They're not always going to be able to immediately verify all your runs. Also, the first few runs I looked at on your profile were all verified within a day or two, which is perfectly reasonable.

"there is almost no chance to appear on the main page" Honestly I don't think that many people use the front page to find new games or runners anyway so you're really not missing out on that much potential traffic.

"runs should appear on the main page by the verification time, not by submission time" All the above said, I do actually agree that there should maybe be a setting for this. That way it's sort of viewing "new on the site" rather than "new runs".

Keep in mind that not a single mod gets paid and such have better stuff to do than verifying runs 24/7 so it does take a while, just be patient!

I think it's actually better if the main page is sorted by the time runs were done and not when they were verified because it does happen that users submit runs done like months ago and the main page is there to show new runs

If you really want to get more viewers, there are plenty of other ways, like being really good at popular games (or just being good in general actually) /edit: Yeah, I actually never use the main page either, I just follow games instead so I get notifs for new runs

"have better stuff to do than verifying runs 24/7" Then make so they can't verify their own run if there are more than 1 moderator per game. So moderators wait as every mortal runner on the site.

Most mods don't verify their own runs actually, if they do it its usually either because theres no other mods, because hes inactive etc. If they still do it theres nothing you could do against it anyway since they can technically just create a second acc and mod that one; and really, the reason given here isnt even close to the biggest problem to the whole self-verify system

"Then make so they can't verify their own run" I really don't think that's necessary. It seems like you just want that to spite the moderators because they get on the front page faster than you.

I think you're trying to create a problem where there just isn't one.

Ok. I'm not gonna post any runs here anymore. Because there is no point to do so. BB

There is a point, but yeah if all you want is free press by being on the front page then I guess you're in the wrong place.

If your only speedrunning to gain viewers your already doing something wrong, the site doesnt do anything wrong here

I completely agree with @Koh1fds. Sometimes you have to wait two weeks until they check the run, for example in the game Captain America and The Avengers (NES). I have to edit the run every day and move the date a day ahead so people see the new speedrun in time. In many games, moderators are very negligent and lazy. I moderate two games and every day I dream to see some new runs, which I check in within an hour. When moderators have a personal life or more important things, these people are generally unworthy to check the runs and they should be replaced by more active ones. Or we should change the priority of playing on the date of verification. People should see new speedruns promptly, not a week later at the very end of the newsline (it means never)

Changing the date of your run just completely destroys the WR history, don't ever do that! If someone doesn't verify your run, ask the mods if they could verify your run if they didn't do it in a few days (already asking them after a day is just dumb and impatient). Also, being a moderator isn't just about verifying runs, there's a lot more to it and just replacing good mods that don't verify runs every day with bad mods that do verify every day isn't much better either.

Like I and @ShikenNuggets already said: is someone really looking at the main page? I personally never did that, there are way better ways to get viewers

Yeah, please don't lie about your run date just for extra exposure on something that nobody really looks at anyway.

Who cares about WR history? LOL. We check this site only to see a new runs in favourite games. I go into the game only if I see some new runs on the main page. And I want to see them on the main page operatively. That's all :)

"Who cares about WR history? LOL. We check this site only to see a new runs in favourite games" I don't know who "we" is supposed to be in that sentence, but I know for a fact that plenty of people care about the leaderboards and their accuracy.

To be fair he made a good point, he just put it very badly. I'll always advocate for better verification standards and no self-verification from moderators.

That said, I think he's completely oblivious to the fact that considerable traffic is generated towards your stream from the Streams page. If you want exposure on this site, just stream.

I mean it's certainly a topic worth discussing, but I think it's pretty clear that their goal with that wasn't to improve the site's verification system.

Drakodan, we streaming many retro games on NES and our game on twitch is always "Retro", so these streams never happen in this section on site. For example I regularly speedrunning 4-5 games in one stream.

Then select the actual game instead of "Retro"?

Imaproshaman, coolestto en 4 anderen vindt dit leuk

I'm agree with @Koh1fds This is not the case for me, because the moderators of the game I run are regularly connected. But I can understand that. Receive the notification, but have to go to search for it since it does not appear on the page. I had often thought to propose it in the past, because it can create "misunderstandings". I see that I was not the only one to worry about it.
