Die Hard 1: Level 10 Ballroom Timesave Guide 

Heya all!

As we're getting some more people fresh into submitting runs for this game I thought I'd make a quick post about a really useful timeskip for level 10 to help out any new runners getting into Die Hard 1.

I'm not yet sure of the particulars of how this works, but essentially you can skip a large majority of level 10 by performing a set of actions that result in the level ending early and saving you several minutes.

To do the skip you need to only kill the 8 terrorists at the beginning level and make sure to only kill the one hostage for the extra life, and leave the rest still standing in the level.

The route I normally use to get this consistent is:
- Kill the 3 by the elevator
- Go to the right and kill the two escorting the hostages.
- Go up the stairs and kill the guy at the top
- Head down the stairs and across the room to save the hostage for the extra life.
- Then return to the top of the stairs to kill the final enemy that appears and if all has been done correctly the bomb counter should trigger and allow you to end the level.

So far this has been tested on PAL and NTSC-J copies of the game but I've not yet been able to confirm if NTSC region copies will let you do this skip.

Die Harder: Dulles Airport Intro Timesave.

A new skip was recently found by @Kapdap which allows you to skip the first 23 seconds on Dulles Airport where you walk around and do nothing.

At the very beginning if you're quick you may see this box on the floor by the front door ![](/static/blob/qnypx2wn.png)

Shoot this box several times to destroy it and you should see this message:

This then immediately takes you to the side of the airport where you the enemies start attacking you.

Again this is can be a finicky one to get as you really have to be quick, but it saves a ton of time and is 100% worth it.

Handgun Bug Technique: Die Hard 1

This bug allows the player to fire with the starting handgun indefinitely without needing to reload.
 
To perform this bug you need to make sure you enter an end of level elevator with 0 ammo on your counter and BEFORE it reloads your clip again.

If done correctly the next level will load with your ammo count at 0 and the game will be confused and think you've not got any ammo at all, but will let you fire continuously without needing to reload.

The bug will stay active for as long as you have the handgun equipped. If you collect new weapons this will reset the bug and you'll have to perform the trick again.
