I knew that my in-game timer was a little bit slower than real time (1 minute real time is roughly 0:57 in game), but I thought that this is the same for everyone, since I was comparing to quaristice's pb. However, now I watched merpell's pb and it is obvious that it is not the case (If you want to see for yourself, just go to any longer level, pause the youtube video and move it using arrows by 5 seconds).
Does anyone know how to fix this? Maybe it is just because of bad hardware? It happens even when I'm not recording and does not get worse when I am.
Sadly I think it's dependent on your phone, I found that using the "optimise" button on the settings is slower than not using it but that might just be my phone which is 4 years old now lol. If you look at the Message IL record I lose out on 5+ seconds on a straight level :/ I've looked up the issue before but seems the only solution is to get a better phone. My game speed during recording is the same as without but sometimes ill get big lag spikes
Just did some calculations, and assuming that my game runs at 4.95/5s, Hades' runs at 4.85/5s, and with some major assumptions that Quaristice's runs at 4.55/5s (it doesn't stay like that), then I have a 22:43.527, Hades has a 22:22.286, and Quaristice has a 21:57.17, so actually he would have WR. My methods: https://imgur.com/CmOfF52 Also, I just got a 22:09.41 earlier, and using the same assumptions, it actually is a 21:56.116. So this is a major issue. We are going from 2 times almost 2 full minutes apart and in reality they end up almost within a second of one another.
An IGT as well as real time would be useful but no point finding out the IGT since there's no timer on security neXus and the last three levels. Just have to leave it as it is unfortunately
That's super unfair towards you though. The game may get so optimized that there is zero possibility of you even coming close to the record.
I realised that when I first got my 25min. There's no reasonable way to calculate it though since the game speed fluctuates and I can always get a better phone lol (which i hope to soon) and do ILs. We could try contacting the dev, see if he could maybe make some better optimisation settings for slow phones?
Yeah, the real time is the only reasonable way as the in-game time speed flactuates a lot. I'll also try some emulators, perhaps there will be a good one :)
Congrats on the 22:09, man, that is awesome :)
Thanks ;) Although Quaristice already technically has a sub 22 :) :) :)
So I updated my system and the problem is solved, but now the game runs slow when I am recording, but hopefully I can solve that as well soon :)
So I just gave it a quick shot and ran the game once without recording and boom - sum of best down 27 seconds (21:31 which is still much higher than it should be honestly) and 22:01 final time. So I'm either finding a recorder that doesn't slow my phone down or buying a better phone, but either way, I am comming for you, merpell ;)
The game runs at around 2.95/5s on my phone, even when recording on 360p, 20fps, and 1Mbps. It's a bit faster when I'm not recording. This makes speedrunning impossible, but it does make ILs a whole lot easier.
Edit: I turned off screen effects and it's much faster, but still too slow for speedrunning.
iirc some games that are run on both PAL/NTSC split the leaderboards between the two and that is a similar difference of 20%. I'll put it at 0.8 for now but it can be subject to change
