Today marks a year since the release of The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog! It still stands as the highest rated Sonic game on the Steam store at 97% positivity.

To mark the significant cultural impact and long lasting influence on the video game industry this game has had, today we are adding the long awaited and much requested 'All Trashcans' category. Please, in your excitement do make sure to check the rules and make sure you are interacting with all the trashcans and for the appropriate amount of times. They are as follows:

• Conductor Car x2

Well it's starting to turn the 8th of April around the world so...

The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog Speedrun Leaderboards are now open for submissions!

Thank you for your patience as we've worked on the ruleset and timing methods. Just in the space of this week we have seen the WR drop significantly with @Slysonic @AlphaDolphin @Dawn and @Emerldd all having shares in the quickest time at some point!

Please make sure you read through the rules before submitting so that the moderation team can use their time best with quicker verification duties.

Heyo again folks!

Seeing as there is a lot of talk about this game happening at the moment, we now have a channel in the Sonic Speedrun Community Discord to talk about this game! You can either join with the icon above or click here: https://discord.gg/Emzd5Rg4FQ

The timing rules have been agreed on by moderators and good guy of the Sonic Speedrun scene @jujstme has created an auto splitter for this game. @huds601 has also put together some splits that utilise the splitter. Check the Resources tab for the download. For those unable to use the auto splitter, timing will begin after entering your characters name and finishing on your last input before the credits.

We can't confirm anything else at this time other than auto-clickers and scroll wheel binding for the game will be almost certainly be banned. You are welcome to keep running with them, but they are very likely to be invalid for submitting to the board when it opens.

I and the rest of the mod team are so happy to see the interest that's coming from the Forums and comments on the previous News post! We ask for patience whilst we are finalising the ruleset in this coming week

CatBoo everybody!

Well this game truly came out of the blue and I couldn't be happier! I hope everyone is enjoying the game so far. As is the case with Sonic the Hedgehog games, they lend themselves pretty well to speedrunning and although this game might look very unique amongst the Classic, Adventure and Modern (surely this doesn't count as Modern right?) after recently running Backbone and seeing these types of games ran in the past, there is definitely scope for this title!

There will be a week embargo, ending on the 8th of April as we all collectively get to grips with this game and establish what rules would best suit it's speedrun. In the meantime, feel free to post about it in the Forums here and if there is enough interest and hype, perhaps we'll get a Discord server going for it.
