Glitch hunting

Hi!

I've played the game recently and been interested in finding glitches for the game since a couple of days ago.

I've made a video yesterday showcasing a few glitches that, while being funny to use, don't show any speedrun potential yet.

And just today I've found a way to do what I call a dialogue glitch which is exploitable in speedrun!

I might do some more glitch hunting in the near future.

So I did more glitch-hunting and found a lot of interesting stuff. Sadly, most glitches and skips in this game ends in softlocks, but I've found a few important skips in the last part of the game. Mainly, I found a way to get to the mountain core early, skipping having to take the chairlift to the upper area, and skipping having to open the door of the bridge to the montain core.

Therefore, right now the only requirements to complete the game are: -having access to the third area (car's key + clearing the way with the cannon) -having the lantern -having grandpa's pipe -having Allegria's head

As soon as we got those we can finish the game.

I also found a way to skip confronting the painter on the bridge at the end (it isn't hard tbh, the devs didn't put any invisible walls to block you from taking the side way). This should end up on a softlock when you fight the Old Man in the chapel, but using the dialogue glitch that I've shown in my previous video, this is not a problem. This requires taking a short detour to get the rifle though. On that note, I found that if you do that skip, letting your grandpa sign the contract in the final flashback ends up on a softlock when you're riding the bus at the end! You're in the bus but the credits never show up. It's worth noting because the current rules state that the run ends when you get into the bus, but the game could not finish correctly so it might be wise to require the video to show that the credits show up.

I'll do a video showcasing the current route for the final third of the game that I found to work. I also might do a video with unused glitches and exploits I've found, in case someone is interested in working on this game. After that, I think I'll be done with glitch-hunting this game. I'll just do a few runs to prove that the route works but don't feel like optimizing it.

Impressive work! Looks like this skip is gonna be necessary for anybody who wants to break the current WR.

Looks like they patched it in 1.0.444. I tried to install 1.0.207 from the depot, but the game will not run with an old depot no matter how hard I try.

Are you running the steam or the gog version? the gog version should still have the vanilla build available afaik.

I'm interested to know the differences between the versions of the game. For example, in your run Lucovico, you take a shortcut around the cemetery at the beginning which I wasn't able to recreate in my version of the game. But I got the game on Steam and don't know how to play the game unpatched.

To access the version with the cemetery shortcut your gonna have to buy the game on good old games (gog.com) and then run the basegame without any of the patches. Sadly its not possible to get the unpatched version on Steam anymore.

Hi everyone,

So, for some reasons I felt like glitch hunting this game again. I even bought the game a second time on GOG to play the oldest version. Here's the new stuff I have found:

The Paper Plane Skip:

This one should be very useful in a speedrun to save time at the beginning of the game.

The Toy Cable Car Skip:

This one is still unpracticable in a run since there's still no set-up to do it consistently. Also, definitely read the description for more informations.

On another note, I've also timed what the best way to go through the labyrinth in the undergrounds. I've always thought going the intended way (following the shadows) felt more convoluted than necessary. So I've mapped out the area and timed to check what's the fastest way. Here's the map https://imgur.com/a/e1XWeg8 , sorry for the low quality and it is not on scale. We arrive from the bottom and the goal is the green checkmark. The dark red crosses are dead-ends. Basically going the purple or blue way should save 3 to 4 seconds. It's not much but still.
