This is a guide for the Hard difficulty of the game and has been written with Beginners in mind. However, it's best if you have played this game at least once before and have an understanding of the game mechanics. It would also help to have watched a couple of speedruns. It's my hope in writing this guide I can encourage more people to speedrun this awesome game.
Which version should I play? You can play any version you wish and on whichever emulator you like. But to be a competitive runner it would be advisable to play the FmTowns version of the game. This guide has been written with that version in mind, as it includes several timesaving tricks and sequence breaks.
ScummVM Version The best version to use is the latest release, which at the time of writing is 2.8.1. You can download it here https://www.scummvm.org/downloads/#current.
You can also use the daily build of ScummVM, which currently has a small timesave over the 2.8.1 release. Be aware that this is an experimental version of the game and using it could cause issues. https://www.scummvm.org/downloads/#daily
How to follow the guide
Throughout the guide, it will say "Skip Cutscene/s", Press ESC to do so, you can also Press Both mouse buttons to do the same. Also, you can Skip Dialogue by Pressing or holding down . (period) Key.
Anytime the Guide says "Dia:" it means you should Press that number on your keyboard during dialogue sections. This is sometimes much faster than using the mouse cursor to select them and certain sections go by faster when you say the correct things. However, I would advise you to try playing whichever way feels most comfortable.
There are keyboard hotkeys for all the command options in the game, they are as follows:
P: Pick Up T: Talk To U: Use G: Give L: Look At O: Open C: Close Y: Pull (Yank) S: Pu(S)h
Note, that the commands (Talk To) (Look At), and (Open/Close) are also the default options when clicking the Right Mouse Button. Depending on the circumstance, (e.g.: use it to Talk to the Bartender or Open doors)
The dialogue speed is set to the fastest it can be by default in the FmTowns version. This is not a worry until you get to the LeChuck fight at the end, where it will become much more difficult to use items with him without running out of time. You can adjust the speed by pressing - and = on the keyboard.

Chapter 1: The Largo Embargo
Walk to the left, Skip Cutscene with Largo Walk to Door (Wally the Cartographer's place), wait for him to say "Hello" and then pick up Paper. Stand in front of wally and wait for him to drop his Monocle, pick it up and exit. Walk to Ship (the one at the back), pick up the Bucket, Dia: 1, exit back to woodtick. Click on the left window at the bottom of the screen to enter the Bar's Kitchen, pick up the Knife and walk to door on right into the Bar Talk to Barkeeper Dia: 1, skip 3 lines of his dialogue and then press ESC to skip cutscene that begins. When you have control back, use Paper with Spit dripping down Wall (On the left), exit up the stairs. Walk right to the beginning of town and Pick up Sign to get the Shovel, Exit town, go to Cemetery Walk to the Graves at the back, Use Shovel on Grave, skip cutscene, exit screen and exit Cemetery
Pro strats When you enter Cemetery click on the 5th cross near the middle of the screen, when Guybrush gets close to the cross click the 4th tombstone above that (At the bottom of the hill) and then when Guybrush is close to that click the 3rd tombstone on the top of the hill. This walk is much faster than the default walk and saves 6 - 7 seconds. Here is an image demonstrating how you do the walk below.
When you have clicked the final tombstone your cursor will disappear while Guybrush walks to the graves. Try to position your now invisible cursor so that you will click the 2nd tombstone on the next screen. (Aim for the circle in the image below) Once you do, Guybrush will walk quickly to the left, so quickly Use Shovel with Grave. This method saves a couple of seconds.
Go to Swamp, Use the Bucket with The Swamp to get Bucket o' mud, Exit, Walk to Beach, Pick up Stick, exit and go back to Woodtick. Walk to the far left into the ship, Use Knife with the Rope, skip cutscene. Pick up Bowl to get Cheese Squigglies, open door on left and enter. Use Bucket o' Mud with door, skip cutscene, walk to the left and skip cutscene again, pick up toupee and leave. Exit ship and go to ship at the back, skip cutscene and leave.
Pro Strats You can prepare the rat catching here by opening the box and using the stick and the cheese squigglies with the box, while you do lose a little time doing this it makes catching the rat quickly later much more likely.
Go back to Largos room, close door and pick up Laundry Claim Ticket, Open door and leave Go back to ship and Give Laundry Claim Ticket to laundry guy, ESC skip cutscene and also Dot Skip, leave Exit Woodtick and go to Swamp, Use Coffin and row to the right until you enter the Shack. Pick up String, Pick up the Jar in the Middle on the bottom shelf (Ash 2 Life), the Voodoo lady will talk to you and you will auto walk right. Dia: 3, 3, 3, 3, 1, 1, 1, 1 (try to skip cutscenes too as there is a lot of parts here that you can, It is a little tricky so alternatively you can instead use your mouse cursor to select the correct dialogue with Left Click and Hold Period to speed through the dialogue, which if done correctly is about as fast). Walk to coffin and row back to shore, exit and go to Woodtick. Walk to the ship at the back and Open the box, use the Stick and the Cheese Squigglies with the box, Use the String with the Stick.
Pro Strats If you already prepared for the Rat then just use the string with the stick and click on the string ready so you are ready to catch the rat.
Depending on where the Rat is you have to try to make it get near the box to eat the cheese. If the rat is on the left side of the box he should walk up to the box and start eating. If the rat has walked away to the right then you have to chase after him until he goes over to the box. Once he is in front of the box use the string. Open the box and Pick up the rat and leave. Go to the window again and Use the Rat in the Vichyssoise (don't worry it's a cold soup), leave through the window. Go to the hatch and into the bar, Talk to the Bartender, Dia: 1, 1 (skip cutscenes during this dialogue) Exit through the window again and walk to Largos room, Use the Voodoo Doll with Pins and skip cutscenes. Walk to coffin and row to shore, walk to Peninsula and walk to the houseboat Give the Monocle to Capt. Dread, Dia: 1. (Note: Do NOT Skip Cutscene while guybrush is saying "would you like my monocle?", it will cancel the dialogue altogether. Use dialogue skip instead. Skip Cutscenes.
Chapter 2: Four Map Pieces
Pick up the Parrot Chow, go into the boat, Dia: 1, Skip cutscene and Pick Phatt Island, skip cutscenes
PHATT ISLAND
In the jail, Pick up Rock Hard Mattress, Use Stick with Leg Bone, skip cutscene, Give Bone to Walt, skip cutscene. Use Key with Cell Door. Open Gorilla Envelope and Manila Envelope, leave (Do not Pick up and then Open envelopes, it's unnecessary). Go to the first alley, skip the dialogue and cutscenes and then exit, follow the Gambler into the other alley. Skip cutscenes then Open slot of door, Dia: 1, Solve the puzzle by telling him how many fingers he holds up when he says "If this is...". For example, if he says "If this is One", and he holds up 5 fingers, then tell him the answer is 5. Always ignore what number he says and also ignore the 2nd set of fingers he holds up when he says "What's this?". Solve the puzzle three times, Dia: 1, take Note of the winning number and Leave Open the door and enter the Library, Look at the Card Catalog, Select C-D, select the tab in the top left corner (Disaster: Great Shipwrecks), Dia: 3, click away from the draw to see the main catalog again, select PQR, select the tab that is 2nd across and 3rd up (Recipes: The Joy of Hex), Select Dia: 3 and then Dia: 2 to exit the catalog.
Pro Strats It's slightly faster to go to PQR first, note the book, then select the draw on the top left of the screen to instantly go to the EF draw and then click the draw above to go to CD.
Walk to the right and talk to Librarian, Dia: 2, 1, 2, then keep selecting 1 to get through all the responses ,skip cutscene when she goes to get the books, select Dia: 1 and then walk to left. Open the Model Lighthouse and Pick up the Model Lighthouse Lens and leave. Go back to alley with gambling wheel, skip cutscene, talk to Dealer, Dia: 1, Select the winning number you were told. Skip cutscene, Dia: 2 to get the Invitation, leave. Go to Dreads ship and select Booty Island, skip cutscene
BOOTY ISLAND
Walk to the Costume shop, Give Invitation to Shopkeeper, skip cutscene, Pick up Dress, leave Walk to shop on left, open door and enter, Pick up Saw, Dia: 1, do this also for the Sign, (there is a small section of dialogue you have to get through when buying, ESC skip it) Dia: 1. Use Parrot Chow with Hook (where the Sign was) then Pick up Ships Horn, Dia: 1, then Pick up Mirror, Dia: 1, leave Walk to the left side of the town and Exit Walk to the Mansion, Skip cutscene, Dia: 1, 1, 1, skip cutscene, when walking through the forest exit the screen at the bottom, select Mansion and you will be in front of the mansion, walk to mansion Walk to the right side of the house, Pick up Garbage Can and walk back around the side of the house, The Chef will open the door and shout at you. Hold Period to skip his text and keep doing that until the scene switches back to the front. Immediately go back round the side again (the way you came), walk to the door and go in, Pick up Fish and leave, then walk back around the left side, when at the front again Open the mansion door and enter. Walk to the left, Pick up the Map Piece and leave, walk away from the mansion and skip cutscenes Select one of the following dialogue options 4 times to complete this sequence

Skip cutscene, walk back into Elaine's room, Pick up the Oar on the wall, leave and leave the mansion Walk to the left of the screen towards the map to make it fly away, skip cutscene, Pick up dog, skip cutscene, leave and walk to the right of the screen to return to the island map.
Pro Strats There is an alternative way to do the mansion section using the Ships Horn instead of Picking up the Garbage Cans, This saves around 5 Seconds if done correctly. Go into the mansion and get the Map first, Exit and grovel with Elaine. Get the Oar as usual and leave. Chase the map and then Pick up the dog. Now enter the back of the mansion round the left side. As soon as Guybrush enters the screen Use the Horn, the chef will come out. Click to leave and at the same time Hold Period to skip his text. If done correctly you can go back round the same way, enter the door and get the fish. There are some ways this can go wrong. The chef can run out the door when you leave and the scene switches, making you think you did it right. But on entering the door the chef may be standing at the exit shouting at you not to go in. This is a glitched Chef and can only be fixed by Picking Up his Garbage Cans. At which point he will chase you again, obviously this wastes a lot of time. The other thing that can happen is the chef runs towards the boxes near the door before the scene switches, this wastes a couple of seconds but the glitch will not occur if this happens so you will know it is safe to enter to door. The final thing that can happen is the chef will run all the way to the exit chasing after you. This wastes a huge amount of time but again it won't be a glitched Chef. The reason for the Chef walking having so many outcomes is down to when you leave the scene. If you exit before the Chef has reached his 2nd line of dialogue. The glitched chef occurs. This is why it is important to skip his text. If you exit and Guybrush is completly obscured by the house, (You blew as soon as or close to as you could) You can get the fast Chef as long as you hold Period as stated above. Although you may get the glitched chef. If you exit but Guybrush is partialy obscured by the house, (you blew the Horn a little late) the chef will begin chasing you and the boxes outcome may occur. If you exit but Guybrush is fully visable, (you blew the Horn late) the chef will chase you and you may see the long walk Chef outcome. I would recommened to new runners who want to use the Horn Strat to try and aim for the boxes Chef outcome. Blow the Horn as soon as you see Guybrush walking from behind the house. It is slightly slower BUT 100% safe.
Walk to the Big Tree, use the Oar on the hole next to the Plank, step on the Oar, Skip cutscene, Pick up Broken Oar, leave Go to Dread's ship, select Scabb Island
SCABB ISLAND
Go to the small hut, Give the Broken Oar to the Woodsmith, Skip Cutscene, leave Walk to the ship at the back, Use the Saw on the pirates Peg Leg, leave. You can not skip this cutscene so just hold Period until it is over. Walk to the Bar, Use Banana on Metronome, Pick up Jojo Talk to Barkeeper, Dia: 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 3, 3, Use Blue Drink with Yellow Drink to get Green Drink, exit Go back to Woodsmiths hut, Pick up Nails and Hammer, leave, Exit town and go to Dread's Ship, Select Phatt Island
Pro Strats There is a way to save a couple of seconds after exiting Woodtick. This is called the "Dread Warp". On the way out of Woodtick, position your cursor as shown on the image below. On the next screen when you click on Dread's ship (1), immediately move down and click on Woodtick (2) as fast as you can. Guybrush will walk to Woodtick BUT end up on Dread's ship instead. This saves a couple of seconds depending on how fast you can click Woodtick.
PHATT ISLAND
Walk to the Pier, Talk to the Fisherman, Dia: 2, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, Leave and return, Give Fish to Fisherman, Skip Cutscene Leaving the screen and returning allows you to skip Guybrush's dialogue when he Gives the Fisherman the Fish, however you may prefer to Give him the Fish and skip the dialogue instead Exit town to the north, Walk to Dread's Ship, Select Booty Island
BOOTY ISLAND
Walk to the Left, Use Green Drink with Straw while wakling and Exit the town, re-enter town at the bottom side to enter next to the Spitting Contest Use Horn, Pick up Blue Flag, Walk to the Fault Line and skip cutscene, Take note of the woman on the right, when her clothing blows in the wind Press 4 or click "Ptooie", Skip cutscene and exit the area to the left. Open the door to Stan's and enter, Skip cutscene, Dia: 1, Skip cutscene, Close the Coffin, Skip the dialogue until you get the Clean White Hankie then use Hammer with Nails, Pick up Crypt Key and leave Walk to Antique Shop, Give Spit Plaque to Antique Dealer, Dia: 1, 1, 1, Leave Walk to the right and Look at "Great Shipwrecks of our Century" to get Mad Monkey Coords, Remember them. Talk to Kate (woman in big hat) Dia: 2, 3, 2, 1, Select the Coord you got, Dia: 2, Skip cutscene, Pick up Monkey Head, Walk to the left and pick up Anchor Walk to Antique Shop and Give Monkey Head to Antique Dealer (Map Piece 1), Skip Cutscene, leave, walk left and exit town Go to the Cliff, Use Fishing Pole and skip cutscene, leave Go to the Big Tree, Use the Reinforced Oar with the Hole, walk to it, Pick up Plank, Use Plank with hole, walk to it, Pick up Reinforced Oar and Use it in the hole, Guybrush will say he gets the idea and skip the cutscene
Pro Strat When you start climbing the tree and are standing on the Reinforced Oar, pick up the plank and then use it in the next hole. Then without moving Pick up the Oar (you are standing on it), and then use it in the next hole. This skips having to move Guybrush yourself and allows you to get ready to quickly Use the Oar on the next hole. This can save a couple of seconds if done correctly.
Go into the Hut, Use the Dog with the Pile and Skip cutscene (Map Piece 2), leave, Pick up the Telescope in the background, click the bottom of the screen to exit the tree and then exit to Map Walk to Dread's Ship and Select Phatt Island, Skip Cutscene
PHATT ISLAND
Walk to Poster, Use Leaflet with Poster, walk back to Dread's Ship, Skip Cutscene, Go back to Phatt, walk to the Jail, Open Vanilla Envelope (above the other two on the shelf) and leave, Walk to the right path and exit Town. Walk to the Mansion, open the gate and walk to the door, open it and go in.
Pro Strats Phatt Island is the one place in the game where you should not let Guybrush auto-walk to his destination. This is because the default paths Guybrush walks are a lot slower than they should be. If you walk from the Wharf to the mansion Guybrush will auto-walk AROUND the mountain, wasting several seconds. You need to direct Guybrush yourself by clicking in the right places. Use the image below to guide you, when clicking to exit the Wharf your cursor will disappear, even though you can't see it try to get the cursor into the area of the circle (1). On the Phatt Island map, your cursor should be in the area of the circle (2). Left Click and Guybrush Will walk down the middle (3) of the island instead of around the mountain (if he still walks around then you clicked too far down). Once he starts walking into the shady area near the middle THEN Click on the mansion and he will walk a more direct route towards it (4). Done correctly the walk should be quick and uninterupted.
Talk to the Guard, Dia: 1, 2, walk up the stairs, use "Big Whoop" (the red book in your inventory) with the Book on Governor Phatts bed. Exit room and exit mansion, walk to the gate, Look at "Famous Pirate Quotations" while walking, Remember which quote belongs to Rapp Scallion, (Best to use Dialogue skip a lot here while looking through the quotes otherwise the process will slow you down), exit to the map. Walk to the waterfall, Like with the pro strats above use alot of left clicks to walk there on a more direct route. When at the Waterfall walk to the top, Use Jojo with Pump, Skip cutscene, exit Walk to the tunnel, immediately exit and walk to the right back to the island map, then click on the Cottage (this saves time) Open the left window and open the door and enter Skip cutscenes, put Mirror in Mirror Frame, Skip dialogue until Rum Rogers Jr Puts the Mug on the table. Use Mug o' Grog with Tree, Use Near Grog with Empty Grog Mug
Pro Strats You can save time by Skiping Rum Rogers Jr's dialogue and then ESC skip when he re-enters the screen to put the mug on the table. Pick up the Mug and walk around the left side of the table by clicking near the barrel on the left (1). Then use the mug on the tree (2), click near the barrel again (3) to walk down the left side of the table back the same way and then Use the Near Grog on the Mug. This saves a good amount of time but is tricky to pull off well since accurate clicking is important.
Exit house, Use Telescope with Grotesque Statue, skip cutscene, walk back to house, Push the brick with the Black Circle on it, Click the hole where the trapdoor was and Skip cutscene Pick up Map Piece (Map Piece 3) and Exit Click Walk to path to exit to map, walk to Dread's Ship, Select Scabb Island, Skip Cutscene
SCABB ISLAND
Exit Town and walk to Cemetery, Use Crypt Key in Crypt, Enter, Look at whichever Coffin matches the Quote you got earlier. Note that the coffin order is ALWAYS the same and the coffins are ordered exactly as the quotes were in the book from left to right. (Eg: "Happiness..." quote coffin is on the far left of the room, followed by "Kiss me..." on the right next to it, and so on) Open Coffin, Pick Up Ashes, exit Crypt and exit Cemetery Go to Swamp and Use Coffin, Row to the Shack, (if you didn't look at the Ash2Life bottle already do it now, it's in the middle on the bottom shelf) Dia: 1, 1, Skip cutscene, leave. Row back to shore and exit, walk to Cemetery, walk to Crypt, Use Ash2Life on Coffin, Dia: 2, (then there will be many dialogue sequences here, just press ESC to skip these), then Dia: 2 ("I'll check the gas for you, Rapp"), Make sure he gives you the key, click away from coffin and exit crypt and cemetery Walk to Beach, walk right to the Shack, Use Key in Door, enter, Use Knob, leave and exit Walk to cemetery, enter crypt, Use Ash2Life, Dia: 2, (Map Piece 4), skip cutscene, click away from coffin, exit and leave Walk to Woodtick, Go to Wally, Give Model lighthouse lens to Wally, Gave a Map Piece to Wally, Skip Cutscene, Exit Woodtick Walk to Swamp, Use Coffin, Row to Shack, Walk right, Dia: 1, Skip Cutscene, Leave Row to Shore, Use Crate, Skip Cutscene
Chapter 3: LeChuck's Fortress
Walk to the right up the stairs, Open Juju Bag, Skip cutscene, Walk to door. Walk to Back Tunnel (Left side, you can walk to the right side but it is slower)
Look at Spit Encrusted Paper, Note which body parts appear first on each line of Verse 1 E.g. (as per the image below) Verse 1 says Head, Rib, Leg So Push the door that has those parts on it in that order. (if you can not see the door walk to the next corridor to the left and find it there) Once through. Look at Spit Encrusted Paper again, now Note which body parts appear first on each line of Verse 2 Find the corresponding door the same way and go through it. Repeat this process until you go though all 4 doors and reach the Huge Door.
Pro Strats
You can find the correct door very quickly by just memorizing the First body part on each Verse E.g. (as per the image below, highlighted in Red) Head (Verse 1), Hip (Verse 2), Rib (Verse 3), Arm (Verse 4) This is easy to memorize as it is only 4 items. As long as the games RNG is nice to you then you can complete the puzzle without reading the Paper a second time.
Because the puzzle is random every game, there is the chance that you could get sent back to the corridor. There is even a small chance you could think you are picking the correct door and still get it wrong. This is because the game has to generate 1 correct solution and at least 2 incorrect ones, and in rare cases the incorrect solution will look exactly the same as the correct one. But this does not happen often thankfully. Also If when you come out a door and there is only One door you can go through, do it. It should be correct.
Open the middle of the Huge door to reveal another door, go in. Pick up the Key, Skip Cutscene Use ESC and dialogue skip to get past LeChuck's scene. Use Crazy straw with Green Drink, Skip cutscene, Spit at the Pan once, then Spit at the Shield on the Right Twice. Hold Period to skip the rest of the dialogue. Once you have control again, Use Matches and Skip Cutscene
Chapter 4: Dinky Island
Use Martini Glass with Ocean, Use Glass o' Water with Still, Use Crowbar with Barrel, Give Cracker to Parrot, Walk to the Left and Pick up Bottle, Keep walking left and enter Jungle. You will see two paths, Go left to more jungle, and again on the next screen, while walking Use Bottle with Crowbar to break it. Use Broken Bottle with Bag, Pick up Box (Cracker Mix). Exit the scene, and again back the way you came. Once back to the Two paths Walk to right to more jungle. Pick up the Rope on the chest, Use Crowbar with Box, Pick up Dynamite, Walk right, and walk right again While walking Use the Glass o' distilled Water with the Cracker Mix, Guybrush will stop to do this so when he is finished make sure to keep walking right.
Pro Strats Because Guybrush will stop to make the crackers, it is best to do the mixing on the next screen with the Dinosaur. As soon as you enter the scene, do the mixing and then walk to where Guybrush gives the crackers to the parrot. This saves time because you are normally wasting time waiting for the parrot to come in and land on the Dinosaur, so might as well mix at the same time.
At the Dinosaur, Give cracker to Parrot, and give cracker again, walk to the path leading up. Walk to the path Up again and while walking Use Matches with Dynamite and Use Crowbar with Rope. At the Rocks. Walk right to the Big X, Use Shovel with Big X and Use Lit Dynamite with Big X Use Crowbar 'n' Rope with Twisted Metal Rods, quickly try to place your cursor on the lock of the chest. This will buffer your cursor onto the light switch in the next scene. Otherwise you have to find it in the dark. Hold Period and skip through all the dialogues.
TUNNELS
Use light switch, Dia: 1, 3, 1, 1, 1, 1 This is the boss fight of the game. LeChuck will warp you around the tunnels. The first time you get warped there is a 1 in 4 chance of being outside the First Aid room, which is the best place to be.
ScummVM only You are allowed to save the game before getting warped and reload if you get bad RNG. Hold Alt and press 1 to save and Hold Ctrl and press 1 to load that save.
Wherever you end up, go to the First Aid room, Look at and then Pick up Dads Remains (Dad's Skull), Open Medical Drawer and Pick up Hypodermic Syringe, Open the Trash can and Pick up Stuff in Trash Can (Gloves), leave
Pro Strats Try to put the Skull in the Juju bag while you walk to the exit.
Go left through door and then enter door next to the >>> First Aid Sign. You should be in a room with boxes. Open the Box farthest to the left and Pick up Balloon in Box, Open Bottom Box and Pick up Doll, Leave Walk left and enter Door, Walk to door next to the <<< Elevator Sign.
Pro Strats It is not easy, but try to get the Doll in the Juju Bag while walking to this room.
You should be in a room with a grog machine. Use Both Surgical Gloves and the Balloon with the Helium Tank (skip the cutscenes), Use Coin Return LeChuck may immediately enter the room, but it is random. Use the Doll with the Juju bag while you are waiting if you have not done it already Once LeChuck comes in. Pick up LeChuck, When you have control again Put the Underwear in the Juju Bag. and quickly Use the Clean White Hankie with LeChuck, Skip cutscene when he warps you (you can do this whenever he tries) This is also the 2nd time you should Save the game before you get warped. You want to be in front of the Elevator. Wherever you get warped, go to Elevator, Use Call Button, go inside, LeChuck may also show up quickly here, but if he doesn't you have time to Use the Used Hankie with the Juju Bag. Wally randomly drops his monocle every game between 4.7 and 14.7 seconds after he says "Hello" The Rats movement is based around RNG, but you can negate it, he will move the the right of the screen from his starting position around 4 - 5 seconds after entering the screen. This is why its faster to prepare everything and then come back later and add the string, since it takes much less time to set up. So the Rat will likely still be close to the box when you are ready to catch him. A lot of Items in the game can be used without having to pick them up and THEN use them. (i.e. the Stick in the jail cell on the Bone, or the Box of cracker mix when used with the glass of water on Dinky Island) It is slightly faster to Walk away from the fisherman after the bet is made and THEN give him the fish, which skips a small section of dialogue Even though it looks like it would take longer, its actually faster to exit the Phatt Island jail and walk to the right out of the town. Its faster to enter the tunnel under the waterfall and then get back to the map and click on the cottage, otherwise you have to walk through several tunnels, same as when going to Elaine's mansion to avoid the walk through the forest I believe there are 10 Variations of the Bone Puzzle in Lechucks Fortress As far as I have been able to figure out after playing this game possibly a hundred times, there is NO way to KNOW which Coord you can get or which Bone puzzle solution you will have, the pattern seems to be completely random game to game
