Master Collection Update and Board remodeling

Hello everyone and welcome to an exciting update for the MGS3 leaderboards!

Today we can finally announce that we revamped the boards and cleaned up the categories.

This also includes 2 new games for MGS3 on speedrun.com!

New games

You can now find the Playstation 2 releases Snake Eater and Subsistence in the combined MGS3PS2 game!

Additionally we have also created a new game specifically for the Nintendo 3DS release on speedrun.com:

Furthermore we have renamed the MGS3 game to MGS3HD to reflect the new purpose of the former collective board. All runs have been moved to their new respective games. Let me or another mod know if any run went missing during the transition phase (which hopefully isn't the case)!

Master Collection runs

Last but not least, we have finally decided how to deal with the Master Collection release for Metal Gear Solid 3. The game is at its core the HD edition of MGS3 and hence will find its place right here. It is the best edition to speedrun this game and will surpass the former HD releases when it comes to load times. Since the old digital releases can't be purchased anymore, the boards will move into the future with a united leaderboard for all platforms!

In total:

• PS3 HD Edition has been merged into Single Segment, Console
• Other HD Edition has been merged into Single Segment, Console
• EMU HD Edition has been merged into Single Segment, Emulator
• PS2 has been moved to MGS3PS2
• Nintendo 3DS has been moved to MGS3D

Multi Segment has been untouched mostly but the PS2 and 3DS runs have been also moved to their new respective homes.

Emulation for PS2/3DS

Going into the future, PS2 and 3DS can further investigated for Emulation options. If you want to help out, move over to these boards and offer your experience running these games on Emulator. The Xenia category stays and has been moved to Single Segment, Emulator for an easier category placement.

Master Collection PC category

Last but not least, there is a new Single Segment category: PC!

Master Collection runs on PC will be timed by loadless RTA. @apel has provided an excellent autosplitter. However, because we also want to keep the spirit of IGT alive, we require runners for the time being to still finish their runs by going through the credits until the score screen is visible. Submit your load removed RTA time for PC specifically. Consoles use IGT and Emulator will keep using RTA as before.

We think this update is the right move for the future of Metal Gear Solid 3 speedrunning and the beginning of a new era of this game's speedrun history. If you have any questions do not hesitate to ask in the forums or on discord or reach out to a moderator directly.
