I know that gamma is allowed to be at a maximum of 5.0, but there is also the following rule which adds confusion to me:
"You may not read or write to the world or options files outside of Minecraft in any way, except for reading (not writing) from the statistics or advancements file."
Doesn't this mean you can't edit gamma in the options.txt file? Or have I misunderstood the rule? Isn't options.txt an options file outside of Minecraft?
If this is the case, how can I change gamma without editing options.txt? (Not using optifine because of 1.16)
You'll find that 1.16 does have optifine. https://optifine.net/downloads (you must click on 'preview versions' at the top though)
You cannot edit the files, with the exception of gamma in options.txt
Wait what? Just optifine for 1.16 or in general? Sorry, I'm pretty out of the loop here. Why is optifine being banned?
@KingLavaCactus Just optifine for 1.16 (at least for now), and we're banning optifine for VARIOUS reasons. One major one being that no matter what, fog in optifine is like 2.5x further than in vanilla. And no combination of settings can fix that. Providing a huge and unfair advantage. We can't just ban optifine on all versions because people with bad computers will complain.
What about lithium? I use lithium and other performance mods (not optifine) with fabric for 1.16.1. Without it I can't even play at 30 fps so its imossible to speedrun or anything (even with lithium and all the mods is hard, between 30 fps and 90 fps and insane lag spikes)
My exact mods are:
Sodium 0.1.0, Lithium and phosphor
Any of those mods let you remove the fog so Im guessing that's ok, right?
@sventhereindeer planar fog simulates the fog generated by non-nvidia user. Its allowed bcoz its a vanilla feature and achievable by tweaking your hardware.
