The Active player stat in the general games page is different to the one viewed in each individual games' stat page. The way the stat is ment to be calculated is quite complex but it does allign with the statistics pages of games. Whilst the general games page shows a different number. I've tried mapping it out but it just seems to be random. Sometimes higher or lower than the true number. I once saw a game with 0 active players show up as 7. It has been like that for 3 years now. Before that the two numbers were alligned but at some point one just spazzed out for no reason and it remains like that to this day.
Also, if you don't want to include things like "concepts" or "dark" stuff cause it makes it "serious" or whatever at least remember to take out farming as well. Since it most certainly is a dark concept.
Also, "Marathons" for one of the earlier tiers.
What the fuck is happening with this board, mods, care to explain anything? I'm not complaining I'm just confused about what is going on.
@ZachPlayz There are a large number of boards on speedrun.com which break site rules, nothing is done about them because site staff doesn't want to delete any existing runs, categories or leaderboards. But also there is no precedence on the site, so even though boards like that exist, that doesn't mean you can add any like that to the site. @Curruff Also, it does mention rejecting high-score based submission here: https://www.speedrun.com/knowledgebase/supporthub/request-game-or-series Not to mention that the boards themselves to not support formatting for high scores. Every board that does that uses to weird system of up to hundreds = miliseconds, thousands = seconds and milions...... we can't set up anything like that.
Besides, this is SPEEDRUN.com, are y'all seriously considering adding high scores to the board? LUL
For a longer time the topic of implementing miliseconds onto the board has been hanging around. It most certainly make sense considering the massive amount of tied runs especially in the 10 Lines categories. The main detraction was always that it would just take too much effort, since the first time the topic came up, there were already hundreds of runs on the board. Enough time has passed now and at this point a compromise has been decided that the top 10 runs at any time, in all cats, will be given milisecond tiebreakers. (as well as runs with the same seconds as any of the top 10 runs, meaning that often it will be a bit more than that.) These will be also retracted once a run leaves the top 10 and tied as to not mix the runs with and without miliseconds. Consider it as a badge of elite status for a run. (even though for some categories every single one has it)
Tall Women Me Momentum and tempo People Soda Sumo Archetypical comedy The combination of the colours black and orange Chaos and randomness Small towns at evening Proper english Flags with diagonal designs Unusual percussion instrumentals Internet history Rhythm Heaven
Actually just now I remembered a more recent one.
Someone made a 100$ bet that they could get a run on an src leaderboard in one day and it just so happened that the person chose a board that I moderate. Whilst I was on a week break from due to a computer issue..... As a result I could not verify his runs. He joined the discord for the game on which I hang out with an alt during my absence and so I was able to talk to him as he realises he's going to lose 100 bucks due to my break!
But that's not the end, one of the people in the server suggested that he may try submitting a fake run to a board that supposedly has had automatic verification. In which way he would technically get a run on a board. He did that, but in the end the run was manually reviewed by a mod and reported to site staff due to his account being brand new and submitting a troll run, resulting in him getting temporarly banned from the site. LMAO At this point I'm back, verified his runs and he eventually got back on the site and been an actual active runner ever since. But that one was a story to remember.
I can recall 3 that stand out.
A troll submittion which had for the video link something that I can only describe as a some sort of a youtube spanish court hearings highlights compilation???
Two run submittions which had a discord server link for the video link, which once I went into was sure enough, a server with just one other person and a single channel onto which the vids of the runs he did were uploaded.
There was also a person who out of nowhere submitted a top time with a description sarcastically teasing at the run being cheated, which we found out it was, lol.
Mobile has always been kinda awkward with how to go about it, for the longest time it was just that once a few people would request a cat it would be added but that seemingly didn't work. Only more recently once enough people gathered up in the discord and got each other interested in mobile 40 Lines did a category get added.
So to end it all at once I thought that the mobile controls of "Smart" and "Swipe" could just be added to all of the current categories and they would exist as mobile counterparts to Keyboard and Mouse in all cats. All of the current mobile runs would just be resubmitted in their proper places and the current miscallenous mobile categories would be deleted.
This thread is just to in general ask, what does everyone think about this solution.
It can be whatever you want as long as the video can be seen by everybody.
If y'all wouldn't mind me being an Elo apologist for just a moment I believe the issue is just a misunderstanding between how Elo wants to go about making changes and what the community precisely wants.
Since they're the new owners, they want to be accepted and be seen as caring and already doing things around the site. That's why one of the first things they have done is redesigning the logo and the main page of the site. Everyone can immediately see that things have changed and that Elo is doing work. And it seems they'll keep going this way for a bit, focusing on bigger changes instead of fixing bugs. They'd rather work for a long time adding new widgets and customizations to user profiles, and adding more moderation tools before fixing the notification and submittion bugs which way less users would notice.
So all in all I wouldn't say that they aren't listening at all, they are aware of the majority of the issues raised by the users but they simply have different priorities. They'd rather make visible surface-level additions to the site to signal that they are working on improving things, rather than fixing the more in-depth obscure issues that the more experienced users are calling their attention to.
Of course all of that still isn't necessarily a valid excuse, but I just wanted to share (what I'd imagine to be) the other side of the issue.
I myself am just happy that things are happening.
You are correct, the run has been rejected and the runner banned from submitting any more runs to this leaderboard.
I am incredibly sorry for this occurence and I promise such things will not happen again in the future.
Survival is going to soon be deleted due to it not being a speedrun so no more categories of it are going to be added.
The question is: has anybody ever done that? I doubt it. But if you can find a replay of someone doing a 1000L Invisible Pentomino run then sure, it could be added.
Yet another renovation have been put in place.
Main changes include:
- Splitting Story Mode and Survival 90,000m into separate miscallenous categories.
- Adding the Flash Glitchless/Glitched distinction with the explanation of the starting glitch and the proper rules.
- Few miscallenous rule wordings fixed to clear up misunderstandings
As always I encourage anyone to look through these with as pedantic of an eye as possible and mention in this thread any mistakes they may find as there are bound to be some with all that copying and pasting.
Let's hope this is the last major renovation to be done on this board, and happy running!
The schedule for the marathon has been decided, you can find it here. https://horaro.org/flashmarathon5/schedule My run is on the twentieth of February 12 AM UTC on https://twitch.tv/flashmarathon. My Wonderputt run will be kicking off the entire marathon! And afterwards I'll be following it up with a much longer run of another game I speedrun. Be there if you want to watch it!
I'm going to be running the 18 Holes category of this game in the Revival of Flash speedrun marathon.
Right now the date of it, all of the fine details and a time of my run have not been decided so I will post an update here when they will be.
Yesterday many changes were made to the leaderboard.
First and foremost, most categories have been finally fitted with the true WR for the category, consistent with the official Jstris leaderboards. This is also why you might see some of the first places be names without a speedrun.com account attached, that is because the person who did the WR does not have an account on the site. Not all categories have been retrofitted that way, most of the No Hold and Invisible categories have stayed the same.
Additionally a number of brand new categories and subcategories have been added to the boards. Including:
- Big Block No Hold
- MPH Cheese Race
That is all for now, have a good day, and pls join the discord.
