Hello all, we have yet another unexpected rule addition. Due to a new cheat/exploit technique we just became aware of tonight, effective immediately we will require ammo count on the bottom right portion of the screen to be visible throughout the run. Yes, this is for both NG and NG+ runs, knife only too. If you have something transparent over that area, that is fine but nothing that completely obscures the ammo count. This new rule will be applied to all runs currently in the verification queue.
I'm sorry if this affects some of you who have your cameras bottom right and have runs already in the queue, but we unfortunately have to take this action now. Thanks for your cooperation and understanding!
Edit: you do not have to do anything special to turn on ammo count in game, just have visible that corner of the screen where you see your ammo totals after reloading a weapon.
I would really like a couple of meme categories like Hooligan % (fastest to bust all the breakable castle windows).
I'm not sure exactly what you're asking, but console runs must use in game time to keep things fair for everyone. PC runners must use livesplit with the LRT (load remove timer) activated. Using a real-time timer is not allowed in any category.
You can also livestream to Twitch via Xbox One. Here's how: https://help.twitch.tv/s/article/xbox-broadcasting-and-troubleshooting?language=en_US
Once you stream your run, make sure to create a highlight of the run and submit THAT, not the original twitch VOD. Twitch deletes vods after 14 days (or 30 if you have Prime), but highlight videos will stay on your twitch channel permanently.
Basically NG is a brand new game starting from the main menu. New Game + is starting a new game by loading a completed game from your save list. New Game + has all your guns, ammo, etc that you've accumulated in previous runs on that save, while New Game is starting from scratch.
Speed bonus is a must for NG+. It gives 8% increased speed which doesn't sound like much but it definitely makes a difference.
Rocket pistol will definitely help you get through the run faster, and it is especially good for factory where you can use it to blow up the lights on doors faster than with the grenade launcher, which is very slow to reload.
No, the official mod is pinned in the #tools-development channel of the discord. It's made by one of our community members, Squirrelies, and does not require mod manager to install and use. There are no limitations that I'm aware of, but speaking for myself I'm not a huge fan of watching runs with the FOV turned up over 105ish--makes me a bit motion sick.
Best and most consistent method I know of which is also the fastest afaik:
A couple of people in the discord have now run this route casually using my guide and "many mistakes" (their quote lol) and finished with an IGT of around 2hr30min. I am really hopeful we can maybe get this run down to sub 2hr with optimization and the LRT!!
Just a note that I've updated the guide slightly. The new version changes some routing order. New route has you get broken slab after Beneviento, then proceed to Moreau. After you acquire Grenade Launcher and Wolfsbane, do East Old Town treasures, Lone Road Boat Rides, get the speed boost from Duke, THEN return the slab to Beneviento grave so that you have Wolfsbane to use on Axe guy. Also changed route slightly after getting ball and key mold to be more optimized use of time.
Just a note, Cvnuck was actually looking for a guide to 100% all achievements for Playstation. We pointed them in the right direction in the discord. That said, please direct any other conversation about the 100% NG run to the thread I started a couple days ago instead of this one, so we don't confuse newcomers with two different discussions of requirements, different guides, etc. Thanks!
Thread can be found here: https://www.speedrun.com/re8/thread/azg6v
See the rules on the leaderboards for the console categories. As far as I know you don't need livesplit as the console categories use the in game timer.
Your routing shouldn't change other than becoming easier because you can skip some ammo pickups.
