Trance and Zenix runs have around 20 seconds of difference (igt being 'faster')
Both runs of Kaster and Vid have RTA equal to IGT, so I guess this has something to do with you guys using ssd or newer versions of ps3
From where this Jill moves faster in TWN came
Personally, I would prefer a fps fix mod that could be used in all OS, I believe that would be a better solution for now and for the future both related to this problem and for others that may appear, but since I dont know how to make one I cant do much about that.
Edit: if the problem goes beyond the difference in fps, which is the difference afaik, then I would like to know what is causing that in order to suggest something
does RE2 even work on DC emu? last time I checked 2 years ago for hard mode practice I wasnt able to make it work.
A yes/no filter should suffice that better in the case where you get a magnum and the tool is used, this can be easily implemented for all categories and I believe that runners wouldnt bother really much with this.
In advance, this looks pretty much decided imo, seems like most people are ok with the change (even myself tbh) and the mods left are also ok, so I wash my hands from now on.
Pyramid says that only active runners should be allowed to participate in the decision and Mags has proposed even a period to split active runners from non active. Since I dont consider myself an active runner right now, I guess I'm out of the discussion, together with many others.
I will just say that I hope that in the future when you guys have stopped to run for a good amount of time but you still care for the board, someone dont try to left you out of the discussion about some change in the rules of RE3 or any other game that you have invested a good amount of time running.
As Orch said, it is highly unlike that someone will try to make it valid more rng manipulation in the future or to undo this change, so I guess its safe.
The doorskip mod is an extra in REmake, the "pure" any% still there. What we are proposing here cant be compared. Change "Any%" to "GL%" sounds proper to me in the case we start to use the mod.
If the manip is done in game, then should be allowed in any% for sure (like death abuse in Crash games). But if the manip is made out of the game (like the QC manip for SH4) then we should have a debate over the subject.
Moe, I still think that the most of you guys are seeing the magnum/GL in a distorted way, you make it sound like game divided itself into these categories when this whole magnum% is a mindset that we created, its not fact. It is true that the magnum is a different type of rng when you compared to puzzles's rng in the sense that the impact of the rng is distributed during the run, but I disagree that the magnum/GL rng is a unique thing, the powerds locations is a rng of the same type, its effects are distributed into the run, you have to change your route, your way to fight some bosses, menus, item pickups, the only difference is the amount of timeloss, which is what trully differenciate the magnum/GL rng from the others. What i want to say is that this rng is NOT a special thing as you pointed out and using this as an argument is not valid. I will not say that this is a common type of rng, since I cant provide another example from the games I know (except for games like yugioh fm but that is a too extreme example and may not even the same type) but with so many games out there should not be impossible to find some examples. In my eyes the only reasoning to allow the tool is still for the convenience of excluding from the run a 50s rng timeloss and based in that sense is that people should vote. A way to present this should be "Since compared to all the others rng of the game, the magnum/GL rng has desproporcional impact in the run and we are considering exclude it from the run for the convenience of not having to deal with it".
I'm just trying to make things clear here, if we're going to do this at least we have to be able to provide a reasonable explanation to argue in the future against any other change in the rng of the game.
And honestly speaking, there is no evidence that if the tool is allowed the game you grow in popularity, so I dont like to use that as a motivation.
Edit: This game has 140 in the main board and mostly the same few people from the last time is here discussing this subject using the same arguments.
If you could make like 40 runners to sing up for this, then I would gladly refrain from the discussion.
Magnum rng means reset because it implies a 50s timeloss for top players. You people make this sound like the game will crash if you get magnum. It will come a time when a 12s timeloss caused by aquacure will mean reset. Its not hard to see that the same logic apply to all the others rng. And if in the future someone appears asking to lock, for example, worm rng, based in what we're gonna deny that type of request? Just saying, this is a door that if you open, you cant close. I'm not against this because i like to get magnums, if this tool is allowed I will love to use it, but based in what you will limit me to use any other tool that I want?
Thanks Julian for all the hard work put into modding this mess of a board and GL Moe, I'm sure you will need it.
GL mod should still be banned for the main any% category, but if people want to create a new category in the CE board for general fixed rng, I'm ok with. If you gonna get GL all the time, it only make sense to also guarrantee that you get the fastest codes and best enemy positions, spawns and behaviour... and why not allow turbo, free one cycle worm to everybody, so instead of blaming the game, we can now start to blame ourselves for the timeloss in the runs.
And just to finish my little rant, less than 5% of this game is RNG (which in imo is close to nothing) and the game has only ONE FUCKING hard reset point within FUCKING FIVE minutes into the run. People make the rng of this game sound way worse than it actually is.
Anyway, regardless of that, when you start speedrunning some game you should be prepared for all the BS that the run of the game has to "offer" to you, so this whole thing with the GL tool seems unnatural for me.
as Dara said, mashing 2 keys for aim will make you miss more qs.
then, put in the rules, because I do this for a long time, my left shift is mapped as an 'L' and I use both as dash/cancel, I change the setup of my hands in some situations.
I'm personally ok with this and this rule is only verifiable if you play with a camera on your keyboard.
that's weird, but I guess is just simple sound glitch
the problem with banning SR 50, is that SR50 can be easily achieved in a unintended way in some levels, you just need to be dragging in some wall doing SR40 and the thing can happen.
sorry, but unless you are talking about something completelly diferent, I believe you are confounding the meanings of turbo and macro. Your definition of turbo is what I know as a macro, and vice versa.
