Challenge #2: https://www.speedrun.com/Free_Rice#Humanities
We've managed to feed our second person! That's 38,400 grains of rice! To celebrate, I am hosting the second challenge.
You have until Sunday 11:59pm to submit a 100 grain run in Humanities, All Subjects. The person with the fastest time will forever be remembered as a God in the "CHALLENGE HALL OF FAME" to be maintained in the page forum and re-posted for all to see in subsequent challenges.
I've created a spreadsheet which shows a bunch of statistics about Free Rice. This dates all the way back to April 12th, where Oxknifer did his first run.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Z9Vr5DDzY5HLMKwBWFnQOv3ZIOEarUyhzguk0ct_DV4/edit?usp=sharing
The Spreadsheet contains the following (TL;DR)
Runs:
- Subject & Topic
- Amount of grains
- Time
- Date of verification & Runner
Record Specific:
- If the run has been beat
- Who beat the run
- When they beat the run
Other Stats:
- A leaderboard with an organised point system
- Total amount of rice
- Total time spent running
- Which subjects have or have not been ran
Extras:
The point of this spreadsheet is meant to be a simple way to view things you want to view (as well as a fun data collecting thing for me)
Instead of having to flood the forums with cool statistics, we could have a single forum post dedicated as a home to these statistics.
If you have any suggestions as to what I could add to this, PM me via discord or leave a comment under this forum post. Thank you.
Rice God: Oxknifer, with a time of 3:31.73
Runners-up: hi_im_airman
Thanks for taking a part and helping us feed our 2nd person!
I have a table of this on my spreadsheet too, for viewing pleasures :) https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Z9Vr5DDzY5HLMKwBWFnQOv3ZIOEarUyhzguk0ct_DV4/edit?usp=sharing
LiveSplit is by far the easiest thing to time with, as it is extremely easy to open it up and use within a few seconds, as well has having lots of options as to what you want to time (splits, time saves/losses, etc.) https://livesplit.github.io/downloads/
I use Nvidia Shadowplay to record because I have a hotkey set to use it. Not sure about the requirements for it, but I think you need to have and Nvidia graphics card. http://www.geforce.com/geforce-experience/download
Are you trying to keep scores hidden until after the challenge is over? Because in my opinion it would be better if you verified them once we sent the challenge submissions so we know if we need to beat a time or not. Just my opinion though.
Jaychalke, could you please join the freerice discord? I would like to coordinate these runs as we submit them one by one, so they can be submitted in the order that they were done, the same way that it would normally be when verifying runs.
Just saying this because I have a bunch of runs stored up since the 17th, which I haven't submitted yet because of this whole spanning out runs thing. I just want to make things more organised so one person doesn't claim they have the record when someone else has it, they just haven't submitted it yet. Runs don't have to be rejected either.
I'm guessing you cant delete those runs because of the rules? Just checked them and they seem quite fishy. The most fishy is his geography run because he answers the questions before it shows up.
Hey Oxknifer,
Sounds great! I have more runs that I am ready to submit. Once you have verified the rest of my runs I will start submitting one run for one day, so you don't have to do the work yourself :D
Because it seems that the only way for the runs to show up is if you copy our runs, I've added you on discord to send you video links of my runs. I could just submit it to the site but it shows up as a rejected run and it bugs me to just see a rejected run in my pending runs page, even though it isn't really rejected. I just want it to look clean :)
Hopefully this is fine with you. If there are any problems or concerns with what I've stated above, feel free to tell me so!
EDIT: Oops, I have too many runs. Is it okay if you submit two everyday? Doesn't necessarily have to be at the same time, could be posted at two separate times during the day.
Hopefully this number only gets bigger as more people come. With just the three of us this is going amazingly well :D
I'm gonna do a bunch of runs soon, so verify them one by one to maximize exposure to the site ;)
Tomorrow I'm gonna show this to my friends. Maybe they aren't into speed running but they sure are into free rice :>
Who knows, it could help to grow the community if people see that there are more people.
6 months later we found out you don't need to click on the start game button! Wow super optimized time saves! :P
